Kuririn or Tenshinhan?

Post by Jerseymilk » Wed Jan 14, 2004 5:05 pm

Okay here's something I'd love to get everyone's opinion about. Who is the strongest human being, Kuririn or Tenshinhan? In the Buu saga during the tournament, Yamucha actually states to Kuririn's daughter Marron that she shouldn't worry because he is the strongest man in the world, at least amongst humans. But is it really true? I know that Kuririn got the advantage of an extra power-up from Senchourou-sama on Namek, but Tenshinhan trained with Kaio-sama and definitely also trained really hard during the 3 years before the arrival of #17 and #18. Kuririn had a hard time fighting Cell in his first form. Tenshinhan managed to hold him off in his post-absorption-of-#17- form, even though it almost killed him. What does everyone else think? I like to hear your thoughts on the subject.

When did Krillin fight Cell in his first form? He attacked perfect Cell for absorbing #18.

I think from when Senchourou increased his strength to when Gohan kills Cell Krillin is a LITTLE bit stronger than Tenshinhan (I think he kept his increase a bit over T's level of strength and that they progressed at the same rate). Then Krillin stopped training so from there on it's Tenshinhan. Before the boost we know it's always been Tenshinhan.

Oh sorry, I probably should have explained. It was only filler in the anime I think. Kuririn stops Cell from absorbing a young woman and her little brother. He tries to fight Cell only because he wants to give them a chance to get away. He's not crazy enough to think he can win! One thing about Kuririn, unlike Vegita, he's usually never underestimated his opponents, except for Raditz when he first arrived.

Oh. It's a good thing YTV finally has all the DBZ eps. They restarted from the beginning not too long ago so they're only at Freeza just transforming to his fourth form. I've got a lot of waiting before they reach Cell.

I stopped watching the anime and became a manga-nut when the Android saga first started on YTV like 2 years ago. I restarted watching the anime new year's when they aired the 00ber Boo flashback episode.

Ya, I think YTV aired the Buu saga at that point to go with their whole animania marathon thing for New Year's. I can't believe after some 15 years, they're airing "Saint Seiya", now known as "Knights of the Zodiac"! They took out all that crazy 80's J-pop I love some much! Hee hee! Anyway, the kids aren't really paying attention to DBZ, they're all going nuts over Inu-Yasha and GT, like they were just made yesterday. Oh well, at least were slowly reeling them in to our world! Muwaahaahaahaa!

Soon the mighty Baby Saga shall reveal itself, and turn them all to the dark side! MUWAHAHAHA!!!!!

....Did YTV ever get the last eps of DBZ before starting DBGT on Fridays? :? If not the kids must be confused as to who the hell Uub is and why Majin Boo is just randomly walking around (like I was when YTV went from 1st saga of DB to Radditz saga of DBZ some years back).

And what the hell is "step into the Grand Tour! Grand Tour!" crap on my DBZ movie 8 DVD?! Is that the opening on the DBGT dvds? I sadly like ours better. Though our DB opening is sad.

Another one of these... ;_;

I say Tenshinhan, for pretty much all the reasons Dayspring said. As far as what Yamucha says to Marron (which is most people's argument for Kuririn), you have to look at the context of that. He was reassuring Kuririn's daughter, and probably didn't have Tenshinhan in mind at all. Or even if he did, Yamucha's opinion isn't fact. After all, how many times do the villains say "I'M THE STRONGEST IN THE UNIVERSE!!!", only to be proven wrong. ^_^

Good points TripleRach. To answer your questions Dayspring, yes for once YTV moved their butts and did air the last episodes of DBZ. And yes that evil, embarassing "GT RAP" song is unfortunately the theme on the English version of the DVDs. And yes, the Blue Waters dub we have for DB is definitely bad. I checked it out once to see if it was as bad as people said it was and I'm still getting horrible flashbacks of little Goku's voice! As for the kids being confused, well they usually are anyway since they all seem to frequent websites that say DBAF is real, Chi-Chi is actually an undercover Saiyajin, and Toriyama's dead. They seem to be mostly ticked off right now about the fact that YTV only aired about 8 episodes of GT and then went on reruns! I don't blame them for wanting to kill YTV, although it's not exactly all them.

YTV has all the way to the end of the Baby saga though in reality (that's what, half GT?) so good on them for a change. They started over because it was the holidays. All channels went to repeats at the end of November and then dropped shows for a while for X-Mas specials.

I like our DB though. Except for the opening + ending the music's the same. It's also fairly unedited considering there was more nudity+gay jokes in it. Mmmm....nudity... DAMN Toriyama for drawing Kame-Senin in a teddy! Now I can't ever bring myself to wear women's lingerie again! It's a good thing he died of a heart attack! Or was shot in the heart, I forget. Or was he on one of the 911 planes?

DBAF! God! So many sites have sections dedicated to DBAF that have more "content" than their DB and GT sections! I found one site that had a pic from THE ANIME ITSELF where Goku was SSJ5! That HAS to be proof! (It was a ZOOMED-in face pic of SSJ3 Goku with his hair photoshopped silver).

Hmmm, Goku with silver hair? I'll have to check that out for myself.

You talking about the Blue Water dub? I would be more pleased about the original music and whatnot if it wasn't for the fact that FUNImation's dub of Dragon Ball is actually shock horror not bad, and the fact that I shock horror actually prefer the English version of the end song to the Japanese version shock horror. Plus (and it feels really weird to say this), the FUNImation voice acting for DB pisses all over the Blue Water version. Henderson is about a billion times better than whoever BW have doing Goku.

(Still, it's not as bad as the BW GT voice for Vegeta. Seriously, if you're trying to copy the old voice, it has to sound at least VAGUELY like him. Compared to that, Sabat is actually Drummond with a fake mask on.)

Is YTV's DBGT Blue Water dubbed? Man I'm dumb! I should have figured that from the diff opening credits+the fact we have eps 1-12. :?

Ya GT is the Blue Water dub in Canada too. Boy, Liam Vegita must sound bad if it makes you prefer Sabat!

My opinion of the FUNImation lot goes up and down. For some reason, we actually have the FUNImation version of the end of the Freeza saga, instead of the Ocean dub. I remember first watching it. The pain at Kuririn's voice. The fact that everyone had sounded like they'd suddenly taken up smoking 40 ciggies a day. Even Gohan, who sounded quite similar, had lost much of "his" acting skill.

But compare the FUNI DB dub to the BW one, and you'll realise how far they've come. Henderson had improved massively (and for some reason, seems to be more comfortable with Chibi Goku than Gohan). And yes, even Sabat. Comparing Buu era Funi dubbed Z with the BW GT, and his voice is much better than the BW one. Same with Piccolo. And don't even start with Kuririn. I'm with SirBoardOwnerMike on this: I couldn't stand Kuririn originally, but Strait grows into it, and you grow used to it. Going back to Klassen, Kuririn turns into an extremely annoying whinging twat, without any of the slightly dirty charm that Sonny adds to it.

And as for the GT Kuririn...pain. Extreme pain. God awful kill me now and forever pain. Oh god, the pain. It's the only reason I'm thankful he's not in it much.

The answer is simple. Kuririn is the strongest human...because Tenshinhan isn't human! He's from Earth, but their's lots of non-human species that live on Earth in the DB world. I mean do you see any other 3 eyed humans?

Ya, but the third eye is just a reference to the Asian belief that we have a third invisible eye. The fact that it's visible on Tenshinhan just shows he has become "enlightened" from all his hard training. I'm not sure if that can be used as an argument that he is not human. I've always been told that he is most definitely human. (Sigh), Who really knows for certain? Only the "Toriyama Man".

Well since Tenshinhan is based off that 3 eyed god in the chinese legend, I think it's safe to assume he's not exactly human. Besides, does anyone notice he never ages? He's way older than Goku but hasn't changed pratically at all.

But it doesn't even blink! What sort of crazy eye doesn't blink!

It'd be hell if he ever got trapped in a sandstorm.

Well, Yamcha and Kuririn only really noticably age right at the end of Z, during the "10 years later" bit. And even then, if Kuririn shaved his hair, I don't think it would be that obvious. Same with Yamcha. It's the mid-life crisis ponytail that gives him away.

Pu'ar doesn't seem to age though. Lucky cat-type thing.
