I don't know if the Dragon Ball fanbase would be a good idea to throw in for exclusive launch games but given that Bandai Namco has been refusing to release Dragon Ball games for the west on 2DS/3DS this could be their opportunity, despite that it'd piss off fans (some complain but decide to pre-order afterwards) for sure though that's to be expected nevertheless.

Ideas for New 3DS - Dragon Ball games:

Dragon Ball: Origins 3 (by a different developer because the original no longer exists)
Dragon Ball: Xenoverse Portable
Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team 2
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z 2
Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai 3
Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Budokai (a remastered version of Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butouden from the DS)
Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Mission 3 (throw in Z and let us have one of Heroes' Ultimate Mission games already)

All of these games would certainly be better on the Vita due to the superior graphical capability but the 3DS graphics are very good too and the money's on Nintendo's handhelds so it's not even questionable which is more profitable.

By the way, why did Bandai Namco release Goku Densetsu (US: Harukanaru Densetsu -- they clearly didn't even bother giving it an English title) and Attack of the Saiyans in Europe/US but not Ultimate Butouden and Ultimate Mission?

Ultimate Butoden was released the exact same month the 3DS came out (in Japan; US/EU got it a month after that). A lot of those very-late/tail-end generation games on the ol' DS didn't make their away abroad.

Yes, the 3DS was backward compatible, and yes, Nintendo could get away with releasing a Pokemon game on the ol' DS when the 3DS was already available, but Bandai Namco was in a position to get lost in the shuffle localizing yet another random licensed game. Probably not terrible business sense there.

The Ultimate Mission games are tie-ins to a product that doesn't exist outside of Asia. That's why those games weren't localized.

I don't see how Xenoverse or Battle of Z would run on 3DS (new or otherwise) without looking like a mess. Xenoblade on New 3DS looks worse than it did on Wii. How are PS3 games going to look on that thing?

When they release a proper Dragon Ball game for 3DS, I expect it to be compatible with normal units and at best be enhanced for New 3DS. AFAIK Bandai Namco didn't make any DSi-exclusives, so why would they make games for the 3DS equivalent to the DSi? The boom-era of handheld games are over. There's no point in slashing your selling potential if you don't have to.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

The Ultimate Mission games are card based so they could pass them up as part of Dragon Ball Z in some way or another and as for Xenoverse think of it this way: Sonic Lost World was different on the Wii U and 3DS but still the same game overall.

I'd bite the bullet and buy a New 3DS if it came down to having any of these.

I think handle DBZ games outside of Japan haven't done that well lately which is why we haven't got a DBZ game on the handle outside of Japan. Attack of the Saiyans would have sold better if they didn't make it so short. At least cover the Freeza saga similar what Legacy of Goku did and AOTS would have been the next generation of Legacy of Goku games in my opinion. There was also Harukanaru Densetsu which didn't seem to do that well neither and I guess Namco Bandai didn't bother releasing Ultimate Butoden over here in the US since they most likely think it didn't sell well. Super Sonic Warriors 2 got mixed reviews which is likely why we never got a third game in the series.

I get that reasoning, but I don't agree with that arguement. The Ultimate Mission games aren't JUST tie-ins to a collectable card arcade game. It's a card-based Dragon Ball 3DS game, that brings the gameplay experience to a portable device.
Fans KNOW it exists, and that it has pretty much every character ever. That alone would bring more sales than Harukanaru Goku Densetsu ever did.

The "Dragon Ball Heroes" brand does not yet exist outside of Japan. Naruto SD STILL doesn't, and we still got a western release of its 3DS game.

There's still no Dragon Ball game on the 3DS, in the west. That's a market that Bandai Namco still isn't reaching. It's money they're not making.

I'm done buying consoles for games, and I've maybe bought three games post 3ds purchase. I just don't know if new 3ds would be worth my while. I don't know if they're going to do a new handheld for Sony or not, so I'll give it time and see what happens first.

It's not like I like video games less, it's just the internet has really sucked a lot of that time away now that it's faster and all. I played an amazing amount of handheld games prior to high speed internet. Phone lines could not compete the way games can't with streaming shows online for me.
On hiatus.

I would probably want them to port Ultimate Budoten. I wouldn't actually mind a Budoten comeback and this would be really cool. I started playing the games very recently and they are extremely fun. I haven't played Ultimate Budoten yet and it looks good from the screenshots. Does anyone have a review on it?

It also makes sense because it goes up to Kid Buu and is Dragon Ball Z Kai!

Dang that sounds like a really good game and on par with Budokai 3. I really hope they release it here!
