Chances of seeing DBZ Games come to PC?
At first, I didn't think it possible because... you know, it's just a general idea that people believe.
But when I see how the Naruto games are doing on Steam, it gives me hope that maybe, just maybe Namco Bandai might give DBZ on PC a chance? Maybe a later Xenoverse port? I would have loved for that to be the case with BoZ. Probably just wishful thinking, though.

Re: Chances of seeing DBZ Games come to PC?
It's certainly likely. PC gaming has seen a pretty massive surge over the past few years and many Japanese developers seem to be catching wind of that now. As you mentioned, the Naruto games coming across was a pretty big step. Since then we've seen Konami (and in particular Kojima Productions) focus pretty heavily on the market; bringing across Metal Gear Rising and announcing PC versions of both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain too. Even Visual Novels are hitting Steam in abundance as of late. There really seems to be a greater understanding of the platform in Japan now.
I think with regards to Dragon Ball; it'd require a pretty substantial amount of sales on the consoles to warrant a PC release. Keep in mind that those Naruto games are selling pretty big and reviewing great on their console releases. I'd say that certainly has a lot to do with it. They need to see that's going to be profitable.
So yeah, it's possible. It'll most likely rely entirely on initial console sales to propel it but yeah, I could see it happening.

I'm surprise it will take them this long for a DBZ game on the PC. Budokai 1 - Battle of Z never made it on the PC and PC gaming always been a big gaming thing since the 90's.

Re: Chances of seeing DBZ Games come to PC?
Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 came to PC because CyberConnect had almost nothing else do with 3 Full Burst, since it was an enhanced re-release of an existing game, but it also seems like that was the excuse they needed to start releasing the games annually. Dragon Ball kind of had that lazy year a couple years back and Namco did not make the experiment, even if those particularly games probably were not the best ones to port!

Took them long enough. I don't know why Budokai 1 was not on the PC back in 2002 or 2003. It feels like it's too late for DBZ games to come out on the PC.

PC gaming was never all that big in Japan compared to the West, though. It used to be a very niche audience you'd cater to by release AAA games on them. It really only started to pick up recently. It never came to me as a surprise, since what few games would make it onto PC would usually come months later.Hellspawn28 wrote:Took them long enough. Why would it have been? The audience certainly would not have been there.Hellspawn28 wrote:Took them long enough. I don't know why Budokai 1 was not on the PC back in 2002 or 2003. It feels like it's too late for DBZ games to come out on the PC.

PC gaming always been a big thing since the 80's and 90's. I remember as a kid, PC gaming was just as big as consoles. Steam always been around for the past 10 years. Budokai 1 came out when DBZ was still popular on TV, so it could have sold well on the PC back then.

I think that with steam less people pirate and that's why it's getting released on PC.

But they also had almost entirely different libraries- as mandated by the limits and specificity of console design at the time- and were the focus of developers from different parts of the world, were they not? An era that uses the terms "Console RPGs" and "PC RPGs" does not inspire much hope of synergy. Except for Capcom. Bless Capcom, they've been doing PC ports of their stuff at least as far back as least Mega Man X (or should I say DOS, in that case?).Hellspawn28 wrote:PC gaming always been a big thing since the 80's and 90's. Not enough to inspire confidence. Per Wikipedia, Steam did not actually become a game store hosting third party games until 2005 (Tenkaichi 1), and did not have a sizable game library until 2007. Considering Steam is the only outlet PC gaming has that could field the kind of audience to make porting a 21st Century Dragon Ball game make sense, my doubt continues.Hellspawn28 wrote:Steam always been around for the past 10 years. Re: Chances of seeing DBZ Games come to PC?
PC gaming has been becoming more popular than consoles and with Steam and its sales there's no reason to even pirate it, and if you dare to pirate a game the developer might include a special surprise for you in it.sangofe wrote:I think that with steam less people pirate and that's why it's getting released on PC.
People should really stop saying "People who play on PC only pirate them!!".

Not in this one but on Xenoverse it has been by a certain member who seems to have something against PC, but his motives seem to be invalid and outdated.

There is almost certainty that there will be some piracy on Xenoverse now that Dimps is going to port it to PC. Steam does not always have 100% protection against the piracy.

There is zero protection against piracy on any platform. Every game ends up cracked up at some point. The piracy argument is aimless.

PlayStation 4 ISO games (and Xbox One too) have started to float around the internet so it's just a matter of time when it gets hacked for people to play for free (as they like to say it).
Here's a small list of what's already available:
Destiny - 18GB
Amazing Spider-Man 2 - 10GB
Sniper Elite 3 - 19GB
Tomb Raider DE - 23GB
inFamous Second Son - 23GB
MGS V Ground Zeroes - 23GB
No system is safe from being pirated.

Re: Chances of seeing DBZ Games come to PC?
The current generation games require you to have the consoles' BIOS to be able to play pirated games, which obviously is not as simple as downloading the GBA games. I will definitely buy Xenoverse when it comes out to support the official release, though. Even if I want to play pirate PS3 or PS4 games, my PC monitor wouldn't be able to handle the graphic. Personally I prefer to play the games on my flat screen TV.dbboxkaifan wrote:PlayStation 4 ISO games (and Xbox One too) have started to float around the internet so it's just a matter of time when it gets hacked for people to play for free (as they like to say it).

Re: Chances of seeing DBZ Games come to PC?
The thing about piracy is, it's one of those infraction that simply cannot be enforced or controlled. No matter how many layers of DRM are pasted over a game, people will find a way to crack it, while actual buyers are put off by how limited their options are with their copy (physical or digital) of a game. I'm not saying there shouldn't be anything done about it, but current methods of preventing piracy are just ineffective.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:The current generation games require you to have the consoles' BIOS to be able to play pirated games, which obviously is not as simple as downloading the GBA games.
