Looking forward to the DragonBall Z Complete BGM Collection!
I'll skip straight to the point - which BGM piece are you looking forward to the most on this new CD set? Remember, most likely only the music composed FOR *Z* will appear, and as a lot of music from the original DragonBall shows up in this series, your favorite just might be one that won't be on *this* particular set (of which I am guilty as charged!). If you're not sure, you can ask me - I'm usually pretty knowledgable about general DragonBall BGM. Just give me the details and which Z scene it appears in.
To get this topic started, I'll name off the piece *I'm* personally looking the most forward to: it was composed for Movie 6 (the second Coola film), in the scene where Goku and Vegeta look up at the cliff and see a countless number of Meta-Coolas standing there. In the TV series, it was used in episode 160 (the establishing shots of Cell's perfect body), among other episodes. It has a despairing air about it, and it's most effective when it shows up in scenes where the characters lose hope.
And for the curious, my favorite piece from the original DB happens to be the drum-pounding music from Roshi confronting Piccolo Daimao and telling him his master was Mutaito-sama.

BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.
The piece I would like is the one I think originated from DBZ Movie One, where Garlic jr. first appears and boast abouts his plans for the dragonballs. It was also played after Freeza and his father King Cold completed their landing on earth. I got the 5-CD set and recently released Movie BGM Vol. 1 and 2 Cds and either had that piece. There's hoping it shows up this time around.

I'm looking forward to the BGM when Vegeta realises Gohan took the Dragonball on Namek. This piece of BGM reminds me of Vegeta; its sounds very dark. It is also used when Vegeta fights Android 19 in the sky. I'm also looking forward to some from the Bio Broly Movie, Movie 12 and Movie 10.

Yes, it was composed for Movie 1, for the scene with Garlic Jr. boasting his plans (I refer to it as "Garlic Jr.'s Castle", since that's also when we get the first shot we get of his abode). They also use it when Vegeta prepares his Gyallic-Ho to use on Goku, and on Namek when Goku tells Kuririn and Gohan to head back to the spaceship (just after Piccolo is shot through the chest, and just before Freeza blows up Kuririn). This piece is often in my thoughts as I look forward to the new CD set, and I can't wait for it either.Riptor1 wrote:The piece I would like is the one I think originated from DBZ Movie One, where Garlic jr. first appears and boast abouts his plans for the dragonballs. When you mention the Movie BGM volumes, do you mean the two Ongakushu CDs (the first with music from movies 1 through 7, and the second with Movie 8's music)? They actually aren't *recent* releases (in fact, they're older than the 5-disc set), but they may have RE-released them recently.
That one was composed for Movie 2, The World's Strongest, for the scene when Dr. Kochin first brings out the three bio-warriors (Kishime, Misokatsun, and Ebifurya). Oh, and by the way, you might want to use more punctuation (i.e. "...reminds me of Vegeta; it sounds very dark"). It doesn't really bother me, and I'm not trying to point out your mistakes like some kind of jerk, but they're rather strict about grammar around here, and if VegettoEX catches wind of this, you'll wind up with a virtual floggingVegetto wrote:I'm looking forward to the BGM when Vegeta realises Gohan took the Dragonball on Namek. Almost all of the music from Movie 10 (just a couple of pieces are missing, probably just overlooked) has already been released on its own soundtrack. And Movie 11 has a *complete* soundtrack with *every single piece*! Check out http://www.daizex.com/multimedia/music/ ... usic.shtml for info on both soundtracks, but if you want my advice, I would wait for this new CD. I haven't yet seen Movie 12, but if it follows tradition musically, it has all new music that never previously appeared before, and as a result, *none* of it would be on CD since the 5-disc set only goes up to Movie 9. However, that's what this new BGM CD is for!!Vegetto wrote:I'm also looking forward to some from the Bio Broly Movie, Movie 12 and Movie 10.
It comes out February 22, for 4500 yen (currently approximate to US $40.00 - or at least that's what CD Japan says). You can pre-order it at http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=COCX-33564 (I already have). Don't worry, it's an English-speaking site, and they accept US currency. There's also a collection of vocal songs to be released on the same day (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=COCX-33567), though I understand it isn't a complete collection, and who cares about the dozen-for-a-dime vocal songs when the BGM has been in its shadow for so long?Blitzen wrote:When is this coming out, and how much is it?
Some more of my favorite pieces include the lengthy (I think it's 4 minutes or something, and that's long for DBZ BGM!) theme used when Kaio explains Bojack's history, in Movie 9. In the TV series, they strew this piece all over the early Boo saga (around the Majin Vegeta arc), particularily during flashbacks.
I've also been pretty partial to the music from Movie 1 when Garlic Jr. transforms, which is used ALL OVER THE SERIES - it even appears in the last few episodes, when Goku taunts Oob to the breaking point!
Or how about another Movie 1 piece, when Kami is fighting Garlic Jr., and he lights up and blows Garlic back into the wall? That one's great.

There was a piece I liked that I don't think is on a CD I know of.
It is used in the Buu saga, when Vegeta is trying to get Satan to make the Earth people give more genki. Just as he goes to grab his neck that's when the tune's playing.
Another piece I liked that was not on a CD was when base form Vegetto was about to take that massive ball of energy on and when he tells Buu to do it. There's a neat piece playing in the background.

Exactly, They were Re-released about a year ago, CD Japan still has them listed. When you mention the Movie BGM volumes, do you mean the two Ongakushu CDs (the first with music from movies 1 through 7, and the second with Movie 8's music)? And speaking for BGM hopefuls, I'm also hoping for those from Movies #12 and #13 as well.

Movie music! It's originally from 9, the Bojack movie, and it plays when one of the henchmen kills Dosukoi (the aptly-named Sumo wrestler).Bejiita wrote:There was a piece I liked that I don't think is on a CD I know of.

The despairing, low-key piano composition? Yeah, I like that one too. It comes from Movie 8 (the first Brolly), where Brolly kills Paragus (boy, there's a lot of killing going around, huh?).Bejiita wrote:Another piece I liked that was not on a CD was when base form Vegetto was about to take that massive ball of energy on and when he tells Buu to do it. It's already on CD (DragonBall Z Ongakushu Vol. 2, track 18 ), but that's not too widely known.... I think.

Yea, I just chose those two because they sound good, I thought one would be on that DragonBall Z Ongakushu Vol. 2, I need to get that, but I won't need to if it's on this new 3 set CD, I'm definately purchasing.kenisu3000 wrote:Movie music! I don't really know if this song IS on this CD or perhaps the Daizenshuu, but hopefully that piece from Movie 12, when Janemba has started searching for Goku and Vegeta, and they are hiding in that prickly mountain. The song is somewhat tension-rising, a lot of violins playing, and I think a synthesizer (But I wouldn't really know!).

I haven't quite seen Movie 12 yet (only DBZ 1 through 11), so I can't tell you, but I can guarantee you it isn't on the 5-disc Daizenshu set, because the music there only goes up to Movie 9. However, don't lose hope... this new set is called the *COMPLETE* BGM Collection, and I don't think they'd bait-and-switch us like that. It's 3 discs long; and though there's been some skepticism about whether 3 discs would be able to hold all 500+ (at a guess) pieces from DBZ, I've got a good feeling about this. It's really an announcement of the Complete BGM Collection from the first DragonBall series that I'm waiting for: That show has some awesome music, cutesy though it may often be!!Eclipse wrote:I don't really know if this song IS on this CD or perhaps the Daizenshuu, but hopefully that piece from Movie 12, when Janemba has started searching for Goku and Vegeta, and they are hiding in that prickly mountain.
