Broly The legendary Super Saiyan coming to Toonami

Post by samuraix123 » Sat Nov 08, 2014 11:15 pm

Hello Everyone! I hope it's okay if I make another topic about another Dragonball Z movie coming to Toonami. I seen they posted this on their Facebook page
Movie Time Announcement!!
We’re sorry we don’t have them for next week, but we’re kicking off movie month with the last two episodes of the Hellsing Ultimate!. 9’s the first week, and 10’s the next week. And there’s a whole bunch of movies too! Every week for a month we’re showing two movies (if you count Hellsing as a movie, which we are). Full list below, and full schedule to come in the next couple of weeks. Spend your holiday in Hyperspace with us!
December 6th – Hellsing Ultimate 9 and Summer Wars
December 13th – Hellsing Ultimate 10 and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos
December 20th – Dragonball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan and Akira
December 27th – Evangelion 1.11 and Evangelion 2.22
I wonder if they will air the Japanese score like they did with the Cooler movie?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
Still recording Toonami broadcasts on VHS after all these years!

DBZ Movie 8 is my first DBZ movie that I saw in Japanese, so I have a lot of nostalgic for this movie. So I will be watching this for sure.

Probably will be Kikuchi. I doubt they'd suddenly switch audio tracks if they didn't for both airings of Coola.

I won't be watching it either way though, I just can't sit through the old dubs. Unless they get Movie 13, I love that movie but hate the ending even though the title gave it away.

I seriously hope that they use the American soundtrack for this one.
Movie 08 is the only one where I actually enjoy the hard rock music because it matches Broly perfectly.

Let it go, guys.

The unofficial American music won't be used again because from now on they'll always use the official soundtracks but if you still want your unofficial American scores then watch the FUNimation home releases.

Quite a shame they're going to broadcast a Broli film of all things, they would've been better airing M#1, M#2, M#3, M#12 or M#13 than this boredom.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Mark Menza's OST along with the vocal songs is still "official" in the sense that it's part of the official releases in the US. However, I still agree that there's no reason for people to be upset over the almost certain fact that the original score will be used this time around. It's still there, it won't go away.

I'm all for them removing the American score from future broadcasts/releases.

I actually appreciate them showing this movie because it probably had one of the better dubs out of the Funi in-house dubbed movies. The only major changes dialogue-wise were the references to Muten Roshi being intoxicated; other than that, the dub was actually pretty faithful. Of course, I may be forgetting other changes they made, but I still remember the movie being pretty accurate in comparison to the others.

It isn't
Nah it really is that's why it's rated higher than them on Myanimelist. Except for Fusion Reborn, not sure why as that was half alright and half terrible. It's the most popular of the lot by a mile for a reason and it at least feels like a movie instead of just two filler episodes stuck together.

The other two Broly movies are atrocious though.

It's most popular because of this idea that Broli is the strongest thing ever. The earlier films had more plot; the only thing really good about Broli is Vegeta showing a more human side in it.
An interviewer asks, "The soundtrack in Sonic 3 has become legendary. Is it true that you worked with Michael Jackson on it?" Takashi Iizuka kills all of our hopes and dreams by replying, "You know, those are just rumors, and SEGA does not want to say anything about them. So they will forever be just rumors..." WHY!?

I would hope that they will show Fusion Reborn one day on Toonami. Since Toonami is made for a older audience and is on a later night time slot unlike the old Toonami which was made for the 5 - 14+ age group then they could show the funny Hitler scenes. Hitler in Fusion Reborn is a gag version of the real person, so I think they can get away with it.

Soon as I hear Kikuchi's music in the movie, I'm changing the channel. I don't wanna hear any silence, tambourines, and dumb clarinets while Goku has getting pulverized by a Saiyan tank, I expect to hear hard metal, which fitted well for the movies IMO. So...yeah, I'll accept that if the composer will be Crapkuchi, but I'll watch something else as soon as I hear ONE TUNE from him.

BTW, why are they using him again? Is it because of contract issues or something?

I remember people here in the past hated the rock music soundtrack and now they want it back :? ? I grew up watching the movie via fan subs on a bootleg tape which had the Japanese soundtrack. So I'm happy that we are getting the Japanese music for once and it allows more people to listen to it.

Yeah, so many more younger fans who grew up with the English dubs are here these days. It feels like a very different forum than when I joined back in '08.

But yeah, I remember back in 2000-2001 when I started seeing OMG JAPANESE DBZ CLIPS on all of the old websites, so the Japanese version and its score are also very nostalgic for me alongside the English dub.

In DB, Kikuchi's Kikuchi
But in DBZ, Kikuchi's Crapkuchi

Just getting that out the way, because I don't think Kikuchi's fit for Z AT ALL! I wish Yammamoto did both the original Z and Kai, but with different tunes. A mixture of orchestra and metal, but let's save that for the music section.

Anyway like I said again, not holding my breath for the "unofficial" rock music to come back, and won't bitch about Crapkuchi returning, but I'll be happy if they don't put his music in...JUST for this movie!

This.

YouTube has the infamous infection of eBroly™. Some of them believe that eBroly™ is stronger than Super Saiyan God Goku but oh well, let them be.

I'm not familiar with Kikuchi's Z score, only his DB stuff, but this gets me curious. Was there a different approach taken to the score in Z as opposed to the first series? Also, maybe it's a bit too much to be throwing names like that around.

Not on here, but I've seen stuff like "Failconer", "Fagza", and "Johnshit" thrown around. Those kinds of names are schoolyard insults, though.
