Rank the Legacy of Goku series
1. Buu's Fury - I know this doesn't have the "Legacy of Goku" moniker attached to it (which may be why it sort of flopped) but gameplay and graphics wise it was a natural continuation of Legacy of Goku 2. The game is a lot easier than LOG 2, while also being longer and more in-depth. The graphics also look stunning for a 2000s Gameboy Advance title.
2. Legacy of Goku 2 - I remember spending hours playing this when i was a kid. A dramatic improvement over the first LOG game. It's a very close second, the main reason it isn't first being since it wasn't quite as long and in-depth as Buu's Fury, also i like the Buu arc better than the Cell arc
3. Legacy of Goku - Well i think this game had some beautiful music, yet the gameplay was absolutely atrocious. The side-quests were also boring as hell and like something you'd expect from a Christian children's show. The graphics are passable though. Overall a poor game that just seems like it was created to cash in on the show's popularity in the West.
I'm not sure if the GT game "Transformation" is considered a part of the Legacy of Goku series, although i can't really rank it since i never bothered playing it mainly due to it looking like a fairly crappy game.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
Transformation is not apart of the Legacy of Goku series despite being made by the same company. I think it was going to be a LOG4 since the URL of the website had LOG4 at one point. I would have rank the games then it would be: LOG2-LOG3/BF>LOG1. I wish the first game got a remake on the DS back in 2005 or 2006 or we got a proper sequel instead a crappy GT game that you can finish in one sit down.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
1.) Legacy of Goku II
This one was just amazing! The gameplay was tight, the story was engaging, and the difficulty was just right. Storywise, I really liked how it began and ended with the Future Trunks story; it felt like everything really came full circle at the end.
Regarding gameplay, this one improved over the first game in every single way. The combat system felt better (enemies actually being pushed back after an attack was a nice touch) and all the different characters felt unique.
Additionally, the optional sidequests were both fun and rewarding (golden capsules and missing Namekians). I also liked how the world itself felt alive; this was done through varying NPC dialogues and scouter database entries for nearly everyone. All in all, this is a game where all the improvements and additions from the last game felt warranted and added immense depth to the experience. Nothing felt cheaply tacked on. Every idea seemed fully fleshed out and was enjoyable.
2.) Buu's Fury
Although I had a lot of fun playing this game, I did actually find it quite disappointing. For starters, the story didn't give me that "full circle" feeling I got from the last game and instead felt like a bunch of random plot events happening. I realize this is more of a critique of the original source material, but I felt I should mention it because it is a part of the game.
But my biggest problem with this game was the decline in gameplay quality. The gameplay problems manifested in the combat. For some inexplicable reason, this game makes it possible to back enemies into a wall and just keep pounding them with melee attacks. This makes combat waaaaaaaay too easy and makes the plethora of combat options seem rather unnecessary when all that's required is to mash the A button until the enemy dies. The worst part about this is that Legacy of Goku II actually solved this problem; in that game, the enemies bounced away from the wall to end up behind you if you tried to back them into a wall. For there to be a regression like this is very disappointing. Additionally, the enemies in Buu's Fury seem to also have dumbed down attack patterns. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's really easy to just start attacking enemies and not give them any chance to counter-attack; this was much more difficult to do in Legacy of Goku II. This reduced difficulty means that increased combat options are not utilized except to just mess around with for fun. For example, I never used the block function or the energy shield even once. In fact, the block button is an inconvenience because it used to be (in LOG II) the quick button for accessing the scouter. Now we have to press "select" and then "R". This may seem trivial, but it's really quite annoying because a useful feature's quick button was re-assigned to instead give access to a useless feature.
Aside from gameplay, the world also does not feel as lively as it did in the previous game. The NPC's don't have as much dialogue and what little they do say does not vary too much. Additionally, the scouter entries have been severely truncated and seem like "tl;dr" versions of the ones in LOG II.
I also have problems with the unnecessary additions in this game. There are now stores, zenie, and actual "things" that can be purchased. Buying healing items is almost useless because they're used so infrequently (because combat is too easy) that it's enough to simply horde the ones that enemies drop when you beat them. There is now also gear to put on including weighted clothes, capes, costumes, shields, and more. Again, you can get by simply by using the gear that enemies drop, thus rendering the entire store and money system useless. To add to that, the gear only serves to make an already easy game even easier.
Finally, I also dislike the lack of variance in the characters. They're all Saiyans, they can all button-mash enemies to death, and they can all transform into Super Saiyans. The previous game's characters felt more varied because:
1.) Piccolo wasn't a Saiyan and his Super Namek form was vastly different from the Super Saiyan form.
2.) Gohan was a child and was quick, but powerful.
3.) Trunks had a sword.
4.) Vegeta was slower but was really strong.
5.) Goku was the all-rounder.
6.) Every character had their own unique special melee attack. I have no idea why this feature was removed.
In a nutshell, all the characters in Buu's Fury felt too similar to each other.
As a whole, this was not a bad game. I actually did have fun playing it. But it felt like the developers had way too many ideas floating around and were not able to effectively integrate them without them feeling tacked on. The only new idea that worked was the fusion technique; this was actually really cool and fun. Everything else? Not so much. There was also so much regression from the previous game that I couldn't help but feel disappointed. If they had taken the exact same mechanics from LOG II and applied them to the Buu arc storyline, I think this would have been a much better game.
3.) Legacy of Goku
I don't even feel like elaborating on this one. The gameplay was dull and not fun at all. The enemies don't move back when you hit them and so this makes it too much of a risk to attack with melee attacks. I actually think this fact alone makes the game too unnecessarily difficult (and not in a good way). The controls also feel really clunky because you can't run or move diagonally. It is also very linear and only allows you to play as Goku, which stinks. Thankfully, they completely reinvented the series with the sequel.

@ Guy above me
While I agree with your rankings for the game, I have to disagree with your analysis of the combat in LoG2 and Buu's Fury. Specifically, how characters bounce off the wall in LoG2, and they don't in Buu's Fury.
This feature made LoG2 combate much, much easier than Buu's Fury. You could essentially pinball any enemy in the game around battlefields, and they would never be able to do anything to you. This totally trivializes the game moreso than any of the additional features in Buu's Fury do. What's more, while it's possible to keep punching an enemy into the wall in Buu's Fury, the timing is much harder to pull off then in LoG2, and enemies in general are stronger in the 3rd game than the 2nd, so they can capitalize more upon escaping.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
Legacy of Goku 2 to Legacy of Goku 1 is pretty much what the Wrath of Khan was to The Motion Picture. It was a huge improvement over the first that many people were surprise how good the game turn out. The game got good reviews and the game was good enough to get a Japanese release. I find it rare for a game made mainly for the North American market got a Japanese release. The third game was fun but it was too short and easy in my opinion. I wish Namco Bandai would hire Web Foot to do a remake series on the 3DS.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
Legacy of Goku 2 is my all time fav!
We were playing the first and it was kinda fun, tough the mechanics was broken. Remember punching the opponent and he did my in one punch.
Then I visited the old dbz.com and there were promo pictures of LOGII! It looked so awesome and I was hyped about next story in sequel to LOG.
Man, even the gameplay was awesome, as I could actually fight hand to hand with ki blasts as complementary attacks. Kamehameha also looked like a kamehameha on handheld.
Not to mention the weird missions in the first one, like collecting flowers, bring a boy his boat + weird fantasy stuff, like going trough a portal in dragon's mouth to fight Raditz or teleporting in crazy and creepy Namek temple.
There really was stuff, that wasn't even in the series!
But LOG II got - History of Trunks as a prologue (really clever and awesome - ending it also with Trunks returning), remake of Movie 5 and 6 (together with already transformed Cooler being on Namek),
filler stuff like Vodka with Taopaipai etc.
LOG3 - Buu's Fury was improved LOG2 and I didn't liked the episodic title card format and the inclusion of the movies (we didn't met Brolli in LOG II, so they could've let him out).
My ranking is like this, not as a standalone games, but in LOG chart:
1. LOG II - 9/10 (the character face sprites were hideous)
2. Buu's Fury - 7/10
3. LOG - 2/10 (I can play it just from nostalgia and if I was completist and wanted to play the whole LOG series).
BTW. GT Transformation was first announced as sequel to Buu's Fury and I was hyped for it, really was. Then they released what we know now and having the same artist on the character sprites, who did the horrid faces in LOG II really didn't help it at all. Also ending it in half of GT was dumb, battle mechanics and gameplay sucked ass, so after wanting to play at least as Vegeta or SSJ Goku (getting money for unlocking stuff was pain in the ass), I just finished the main campaign and never touched the game again. Was there only like 1 play mode? That didn't helped either.

Pretty obvious 2 and/or 3 would be ranked 1 or 2. Even though I never played them. The only thing I have for LoG 1 is nostalgia.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
Legacy of Goku 2 is my #1. Buu's Fury comes second.
I did like Legacy of Goku 1, but like as said above the combat lacked a bunch. It's so basic, even if you level yourself up to 25 max, a weak enemy could easily defeat you if you rely on hand to hand combat. I found myself actually using ONLY Kamehameha's through the 2nd half of the game. I'm not joking, combat is deadly when you're facing the Ginyu Force and Frieza. Fire a kamehameha, fly behind character, kamehameha, fly away and gather energy. Funny thing is, if you fly out of range far enough, the enemies eventually stop following you. This way, you can beat Final Form Frieza by only firing blasts at him and flying away. Punching is useless and dangerous at the same time.
Flying was a cool thing to have in the 1st Legacy of Goku, but for some reason they took out this addition in both Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury. They replaced this with "platforms" found in every level that takes you to another area. So, there are things I like and don't like about all 3 of the games.
Buu's Fury was not hard. I can beat this game with a level 100 character. Powering up to Level 200 seems pointless. They tried to be inventive by adding a bunch more doors for higher level characters, although this idea flopped. Most of the locations were not important, and dull. I also found that collecting the "Hercule Exhibits" was a bit tedious, and there was no real reward for you after completing the entire collection.
I did like weight addition to gaining experience. That made leveling up somewhat faster.
As far as music - Legacy of Goku 1 nailed it. Lacking gameplay, but the music was awesome in the 1st of the series.
I have no idea why they never named Buu's fury "Legacy of Goku 3". That's really what it is.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
My guess is that Atari wanted a different name for Legacy of Goku 3 to attract more people to buying into the game. I still wish Webfoot did a remake of LOG1 when they had the chance. My idea it can be a remake of LOG1 can have LOG2-LOG3 gameplay.
Playable characters:
Goku
Vegeta
Gohan
Piccolo
Kuririn
You can have Lord Slug be a optional boss similar to have Coola was in LOG2. You can unlock the Garlic Jr saga as a bonus saga if you completed everything at 100%.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
I think Turles/The Crusher Corps would be a good hidden boss between beating the Saiyans and going to Namek if they ever remake LOG, despite Tree of Might not really fitting into the timeline. I was surprised Broly was the hidden boss in Attack of the Saiyans as opposed to Turles since Broly was from much later in the series.Hellspawn28 wrote: You can have Lord Slug be a optional boss similar to have Coola was in LOG2. Also in terms of music, my ranking for the games would be LOG 1>Buu's Fury>LOG 2. Buu's Fury had some of Faulconer's best work from the show but the first LOG had great music that wasn't available anywhere else. I think FUNi should have used some of the sad music in the game (like the music that plays when Goku & Raditz die) in their dub.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
+ What I loved in all the games was the music!
I thought that it's awesome and liked all the various pieces.
I even downloaded the roms and tried to rip it via Visual Boy Advance Emulator into mp3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69_9i-1vmR8
It was shock when I later discovered that it is actually remixed music from the US version, and more shock was the actual usage in the episodes.
The music didn't sound as cool as the midis in the game, it was like from some 80's-90's US action Saban show and it went on and on and on...

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
For me this is very easy:
1. Buu's Fury: Awesome game with tons of stuff to do after you beat the story. I love how they blended the movies together with the main story. The use of Faulconer music in this game is done even better than in LoG 2, and you get Fusion and SSJ3, and I happen to prefer the Buu saga to the Cell saga.
2. LoG 2: A classic DBZ game that made huge improvements over LoG1. Great use of Faulconer's music and fun side quests. And more faithful to the story of the show than its predecessor.
3. LoG 1: An underrated game with some good things going for it like being one of the few DBZ games to let you travel Snake Way and Train with King Kai. And the clips from the show and occasional voiceovers were nice too.
I'd love to see a remake of all 3 games put into one, with the first one being made much longer obviously.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
One of my favorite things about Buu's Fury is that you can choose what you upgrade when leveling up. So instead of automatically receiving +1 or +2 strength, you can collect a bunch of points and choose how you want to upgrade yourself. Personally I focus most on endurance and power. I limit my strength as much as possible since the game is really easy.

Re: Rank the Legacy of Goku series
LOG2 was popular enough that people made many mods out of it. I remember in 2004-2005 that a person on the Dragon World forums made a fan made remake of LOG1 which had the same gameplay of LOG2 & LOG3/BF but cover Radditz up to Garlic Jr. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo and Kuririn where playable characters and had Roshi as a hidden unlockable. Funny enough the game did had DBZ Movie 8 has a bonus feature and I find it funny that Broli was a bonus boss in Attack of the Saiyans. Maybe the same person end up working on that game
.There was one AF mod of LOG3 which end up not being finished.

LoG 2 > Buu's Fury > LoG 1
I only managed to play through LoG 1 once, it was too frustrating for a second time. Buu's Fury got a few runs, but LoG 2 stopped working ages ago, sadly.
