Watching Fusion Reborn for the first time

Post by jollyr » Tue Jan 06, 2015 1:03 am

It's certainly one of my favorite of the movies and I think Janembas the most unique villain of all the movies. I also like how they got into Vegetas feelings on death a little. I also think all the villains coming back from hell could've made a great movie on its own and I think it was kind of wasted in this one. But how do you all feel about this movie?

The movie I have the least problems with. It was solid I'd say.

I like it quite a lot, except for the really odd animation/drawings of everyone when they are fighting the living-dead villains.. especially Gotenks and Trunks. They have HUGE black lines around them and it makes it look like a pre-schoolers cartoon. It's quite distracting.

Other than that, I enjoy it. The way Janemba breaks apart when he teleports is so damn cool.

He's basically Buu... fat, playful villain easy to underestimate based on manners and appearance, that holds a dreadful power. Changes into awesome-looking sleek battle mode like Evil Buu.

I'm sure that was the point. The part with Goten & Trunks was a gag scene and the playful art style helped convey that.

Well, Buu has a child mentality. Janemba is more of a baby. So he's basically... Baby Buu. lol.

Super Janemba is another story.

Definitely my favorite DBZ movie villain.

Definitely one of my fave db movies. Rewatched it semi recently for the first time in a while.
I miss the old art style so hard. It's not Toriyama, but so much tighter than present day Yamamuro.
Gokû's dialogue (more so his performance of it) with Vegeta after being rescued is heart-grabbing. Emotionally charged counter part to the brain-meltingly cute "desu" scene in BOG.

Also, the sheer number of silly faces Vegeta cycles through in a blink and you'll miss it moment after Gokû tells him he's already dead in response to Vegeta being all would rather die than fuse.

Not to mention this movie qualifies as containing an abridged Fukkatsu on 「F」. It revives Freeza and his army, they prepare to attack, and get destroyed by The Great Saiyaman. :3

And that's why Saiyaman isn't in 「F」, because he defeated a revived Freeza already. :3
On hiatus.

I feel basically the same, there's not much for me to complain about though my favorite movie is #13.

I don't often care for villains but Janemba is pretty cool, especially when he teleports and the scenery itself in the movie really fits him. Everything from Hitler returning to the weird art style just fit the playful atmosphere (such an odd sentence lol), I liked it.

I won't spoil it for you but I like 97% of #13 because despite not caring for kid Trunks I really liked that the focus was mostly on him and Tapion, I learned to like Trunks here but its not an action heavy movie so it may bore you.

The 3% I dislike is the ending, which the (JP) title kind of gives away so have fun figuring out that mystery lol. Tell us how it goes.

For me that film falls under "so dumb and over the top it's good".

It's fun, it has good choreography, some neat character designs, a couple good fights, cool powers, and Freeza getting one-shotted. A very solid movie for what it is.

SS3 Goku and SS2 Vegeta vs Evil Janemba might be the best DBZ movie fight. At the very least, it's in the top three for me. And SS Gogeta vs Evil Janemba, despite being an anticlimactic curb-stomp, was still stylish. At least it wasn't literally over in or two hits, like most climaxes in these movies, and Gogeta had to actually beat on Janemba.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke

Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Definitely my favorite DBZ movie.
Great animation, character designs, music, this movie has it all. It still has (in my opinion) one of Goku's best transformations, it still gives me goose bumps.
Janemba by far is one of the coolest DBZ villains, his techniques are awesome and the way he teleports by breaking into little cubes is "mondo cool".

The moments between Goku and Vegeta were great, definitely felt some bonding there. The comedy was great as well, from Goten and Trunks going up against the dictator and his army of the undead, Veku VS. Janemba and Pikkon VS. the barrier I find all really funny.

And finally, the moment Gogeta enters was just badass. :D

I loved that, it was something new and different but hey to each his own.

That was literally nothing... Vegeta did like 2 things and then got instantly smoked. But Goku's fight before that was awesome. And I also love how little we saw of Gogeta's ability, I like the mystery.

Movie is cool. Not the best but far from being the worst.
Janemba is great though.

I consider them all part of the same fight, because there's no real break between them.

When I first saw it, I was a bit disappointed that Gogeta wasn't in there that long.

After seeing Broly for so long, Janemba was a nice change. It just felt the movie was a bit short.

I was kinda annoyed by Hitler in this movie.. Why does he have to be here? In the dragonball world? It's funny and all but It just felt so out of place. Would have been neat if it was the red ribbon army or something.
