I think it's ironic that for all the hate GT gets, a lot of fan artists choose to use their story as a sequel to it. Anyways first four chapters are up.

Re: Dragonball Next Gen
Not all that good. I seen much better Dragon Ball fan manga in terms of art and story. I think I'll give this a pass.

Re: Dragonball Next Gen
The art is alright but the story doesn't seem to set it apart from every other GT sequel. It's got the same premise of a random alien landing on Earth for either revenge or because he's looking for a worthy opponent. Then again there's not really much else you can do for a sequel so at least the villain has an interesting backstory. Something that bothered me was that this guy was only sensed when he landed on Earth even though he was stronger than Omega Shenron who was stronger than Buu who could be sensed from Other World.
Re: Dragonball Next Gen
Dr. Gero suddenly having a brother and a new Android was dumb as hell. But I did like the Android's design. And for what it's worth the newest villain had the most original design and backstory out of all the GT sequels I read.
I don't like how Vegeta is characterized. I hate Vegeta with a passion but I know he is a different man by the end of Z. But in Next Gen he talks like the prick he always was between Namek the beginning of the Buu Saga, so I didn't like that.
Other than those, the story isn't really noteworthy.

I read this before and I haven't been up to date with it. I like the art and the main villain looks pretty cool.

Why is it that every post GT story has Goten die in the very beginning? Lol
I agree with Kentai, how did this get on a manga site?
Also I face-palmed at Mystic SSJ3

I believe the fan artist of this fan manga is on this forum too. I do admit that the villain with the half halo on his head looks cool. He looks very different then what you see in the DB universe and that's what I like about it. I like things that are different and stuff that you don't often see.

I felt like Gero's brother was put there as a parody of lazy fan fiction ideas. He was killed off shortly after being revealedFoolsGil wrote:Dr. Gero suddenly having a brother and a new Android was dumb as hell. But I did like the Android's design. Yeah good point. This was supposed to take place eight years after GT so 23(?) years after the Buu saga when his attitude changed the most. All those years he's been leading a quiet peaceful life on Earth aside from what happened in GT which only spanned a year or two.I don't like how Vegeta is characterized. Dragon RN is my favorite GT sequel. I absolutely hated GT but this felt like the most believable sequel to it.

Dragon Ball RN is the fan comic that had Vegeta becoming fat right
? I remember that comic and I don't think it ever got finished. I remember RN back in 2007 or 2008.

Saw it again. It was a refresher course. There's some good, but I hate what they did with Krillin, the resurrection of a bunch of old baddies, some guy who looks to be a Daimao clone, Broly wank, and Fat Vegeta. Krillin is so undignified, old baddies plot is done to death, Daimao looking clone, Broly somehow even considered a GT level threat pffft, and Vegeta getting overweight even though in canon he never was this pathetic after Goku remained dead.Hellspawn28 wrote:Dragon Ball RN is the fan comic that had Vegeta becoming fat right? On the bright side we got some spotlight shared among the cast which is nice, and Majin Boo the pimp
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Yeah last time I checked their site a few years ago they had chapter 5 "coming soon". Their site has been offline for a while though so I guess the story has been discontinued.Hellspawn28 wrote:Dragon Ball RN is the fan comic that had Vegeta becoming fat right? I know that Vegeta would probably never become a couch potato or that Gohan would get so rusty that he forgets how to fly. I see it as a funny what-if that after getting so used to life on Earth Vegeta becomes more human. Vegeta was around 30 when he first landed on Earth and at least in his 60's in most sequels so he spent the first half of his life as a space pirate/soldier and the second half peacefully on Earth. All the action in DBZ took place within a span of a month of two if you include all the events together while the rest of those 30+ years consisted of just either training or hanging around Bulma's house.
I agree the villains somehow being resurrected was an unoriginal idea. I think the author wanted to focus more on the Z fighter's lives and for the sake of giving them some action he decided to just resurrect some former villains instead of making up his own that would mostly be based on a former villain anyway.

Re: Dragonball Next Gen
The comic is interesting, but Vegeta & Gohan seem a little out-of-character to me.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
