Ending on the Cell Saga: A better choice?

Post by matt0044 » Mon Jan 26, 2015 6:23 pm

I mean, I find the Buu Saga to have its moment and it's not bad to like it. With the Cell Saga, I feel like it would've been the more fitting ending and DBZ Kai choosing it as the finale was a good choice. It had Gohan come full circle, Goku passing the torch, all that good stuff.

Again, I don't hate the Buu Saga but this was something I was just racking my brain over. Anyone like to share any thoughts on this?

I feel like this topic is brought up over and over again. :?

The Cell arc certainly felt more definitive. But I won't deny that Buu arc also brought some closure for me for characters I wasn't really sure about (Vegeta ad Mr Satan). But I also can't imagine the Dragon Ball universe without Super Buu, he was fucking awesome! :P

For the record, the only reason that Dragon Ball Kai ended at the Cell arc was because merchandise sales for Dragon Ball Kai were poor and the only reason Dragon Ball Kai Bui arc even exist is because of the demand from the international audiences. Which is why the advertisements and tie-in merchandise this time round is much more scaled down. That and also the fact that Sailor Moon Crystal is happening.

Well the way they'd concluded with Kai at the Cell Saga was rather fitting because it showed us that little compilation with all the moments building up to where we were at. That was really cool and if they were to end Kai there it would have been a suitable ending. However, I feel with Kai I need the Buu Saga because I have the sets and it would otherwise always feel incomplete - and I guess for fans out there who got into the series through Kai would then have to jump over to DBZ or the Manga to conclude the series.

It's fresh in my mind too as I've literally just watched the whole of the Cell Saga of Kai over the last couple of days. It's such a fun ride still despite having seen it so many times and it's a fantastic arc... couldn't do without Buu though!

Kai's Cell arc ending was pretty good, but it would never be satisfying for me. I love the Majin Buu arc too much to see it disappear. Like it or not, there is another 1/3 of the story that wasn't being shown and that was not acceptable for me.

No cause we didn't get closure for Goku&Vegeta's rivalry and the battle with cell wasn't on the scale that a final battle should be on like with kid Buu.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
