Recently I heard the He-Man theme in a context that had nothing to do with Dragon Ball and upon hearing the music I immediately thought of the intro to that Canadian dub of DB by the Blue Water Group.
He-Man theme(you can hear it without dialouge at 1:14
Blue Water intro
You can also see that the similarity is commented on in the comments for the Blue Water dub.
Interestingly Shuki Levy, the composer of DBZ's Ocean dub soundtrack, also composed the He-Man soundtrack, so he might have reused it in the DB dub, if it was him that composed the soundtrack for Blue Water's dub.
What do you think?
Blue Water dub intro = He-man

I'm pretty sure the Blue Water DB song was based on the French version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfBBbR4Z_RU

Shuki Levy never worked with or composed music for Ocean studios/Blue Water, that's a common misconception among Dragon Ball fans it seems. The only involvement he ever had with Ocean/Blue Water and Dragon Ball was in the highly censored FUNi produced Ocean dub of the first 53 DBZ episodes, since FUNi let their distributors Saban (the company Levy worked for) handle the music. Also there was no soundtrack for the Blue Water dub, they just used the original Japanese music.dbgtFO wrote: Interestingly Shuki Levy, the composer of DBZ's Ocean dub soundtrack, also composed the He-Man soundtrack, so he might have reused it in the DB dub, if it was him that composed the soundtrack for Blue Water's dub.

Speaking of the French DB songs, Bernard Minet's Dragon Ball et Dragon Ball Z sounds almost the same as France Gall's Poupée de cire, poupée de son.

Ah, okay. I guess that rules out the Levy link, but it seems the French producers were inspired by the He-man theme then.NitroEX wrote:I'm pretty sure the Blue Water DB song was based on the French version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfBBbR4Z_RU

Haha, guess someone got a Little too inspired by a song from their childhood.kei17 wrote:Speaking of the French DB songs, Bernard Minet's Dragon Ball et Dragon Ball Z sounds almost the same as France Gall's Poupée de cire, poupée de son.
