I hope this doesn't make me look like a weird nerd, but did anyone else notice that in his first form Cell has 3 fingers and after absorbing 17 and becoming complete he does have 5 fingers?

Yes, I've noticed that too. In the anime, he always has five fingers though no matter what from he's in. I guess the animators didn't wan't to bother with remembering how many fingers to draw everytime they did Cell.

Same with Piccolo, who had 4 fingers in the manga and 5 in the anime.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all Namekians have 4 fingers in the manga. Not sure about King Piccolo though. Here's something to ponder, did Piccolo (jr.) have 4 fingers when he fought Goku? Did Toriyama really pay that much attention to it?

Every panel in the manga concerning a Namek, Piccolo Daimaou, or Piccolo JR, has them drawn with four fingers.
Well, I think. At least all the panels with Piccolo do. So nyah!

In volume 13 of the manga there's a panel where King Piccolo has 5 fingers in fact underneath it there is a line that says, "He grew a finger."

I really don't get the point of a Cell's fingers topic but ow well.
In all fact I really don't pay much mind to thier fingers. I pay much mind to thier fighting and story line.
