How am I supposed to work the avatar thing? It's really confusing; so if anyone could tell me how I upload avatars, I'd be greatfull.
Thanks for any help (if it can be called so) you can give me.

1) Find an image that you want, save it onto your computer and then re-scale it so that it's 80 x 80 pixels (or less) using a graphics software. Something basic like MS Paint will do. (For MS Paint, to limit the size of the working space, press Ctrl+E and then enter 80 in both boxes.)

2) Upload the image onto a webspace - e.g. your own website domain if you have one, or a public file/images host. I use Photobucket.com. (To upload using Photobucket, first create an account and then login; go to where it says Add Pictures and click on Choose to find the image you saved on your computer; click on Submit and wait for it to transfer.)

3) Find out the weblink of the avatar image that you have just uploaded. (Hosts like Photobucket spell it out right beneath the image; otherwise, right click on the image to find out.) Copy that link.

4) Go to your Profile page on this forum and scroll to the bottom where it says 'Avatar control panel'. Paste the link in the box that appears in that section.

5) Click on Submit and then check your profile and posts to see if it appears. That's all there is to it.

Hi, I need help too. Any time (in MS Paint) that I press ctrl+E and put 80 in both of the boxes, it just cuts out a chunk of my picture from the top left corner that is 80x80, instead of resizing the entire picture. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Ya, MSPaint really doesn't work well for re-sizing. I use Image Enhance for editing the majority of my images, especially for cropping and resizing.
You can download it here:

In my experience, Image Enhance is a poor program. I would suggest to everyone here without brand name editing software to use "The Gimp" (here), GIMP is a GNU Image Manipulation Program modeled off of Adobe Photoshop, but it's also a free program. It is one of the best image editing programs I've come across in a long, long time.

Yeah, so I would suggest everyone try it to see if they like it. =)
