Toei animation and FUNimation Relations
Toei animation and FUNimation Relations
I came across this http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Toei while looking for G1 Transformers info. I know that Toei animation messed up some Transformers episodes. http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Anim ... or/Gallery But I didn't know that Western anime distributors had so much difficulty working with them and that Funimation is the only Western anime distributor with a good relation, lucky them. Anyway, after all, the mistake and errors TOEI made, and still making, I still love TOEI for the great stuff they produced back in the 80s and 90s I really Enjoyed that time.

Well, I don't know about any other companies relation with Toei, but those Transformers errors aren't ALL Toei errors. I'm sure most of those errors are AKOM errors, an animation studio from Korea that was used to animate most of the series. Toei really only did a handful of episodes and the movie (plus whatever Japanese exclusive series they did).

Re: TOEI animation and FUNimation Relations
This has inspired me to try to come up with a list of what other western anime distributors have actually worked with Toei currently and in the past. So far I've got:
ADV: Sailor Moon (formerly, sub-only), Saint Seiya (formerly)
Cinedigm: Saint Seiya (currently), Zatch Bell (currently)
DiC: Sailor Moon (formerly), Saint Seiya (formerly)
Illumitoon: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (formerly), Beet the Vandel Buster
Diskotek Media: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (currently)
4Kids: Ojamajo DoReMi, One Piece (formerly), Ultimate Muscle
Funimation: Dragon Ball franchise (DB, Z, GT, Kai, films), One Piece (currently), Toriko
Viz Media: Sailor Moon franchise (SM, R, S, SS, Stars) (currently), Zatch Bell (formerly)
Disney/Saban: Digimon, Power Rangers/Super Sentai
That's...a lot more than I expected, especially considering I'm probably still missing stuff. Huh.

Re: TOEI animation and FUNimation Relations
Tokyo Mew Mew was animated by Studio Pierrot and some other company owns it. Toei doesnt have anything to do with it.
Also Viz worked with Toei on Konjiki No Gash Ball (Zatch Bell!)

Re: Toei animation and FUNimation Relations
Oh. Was sure it was a Toei series. My mistake and list updated (Cinedigm actually has Zatch/Gash now, according to the recent release on Crunchyroll).
Re: Toei animation and FUNimation Relations
Traditionally Toei has had issues in getting licensors proper materials and various other issues.
In recent years this seems to have vanished to a large degree (roughly around when the newest attempts by them and Toei America took a nosedive.)
In recent years they've actually seemed to work with companies relatively well.
In prior years the only company that seemed to consistently get good materials out of Toei was Saban Entertainment.

Just off the top of my head, Discotek also has Dr. Slump, at least it's first five movies.Theophrastus wrote:This has inspired me to try to come up with a list of what other western anime distributors have actually worked with Toei currently and in the past.
