Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
No matter how ridiculously impossible it may be now, which single character would you like to catch up with Goku and Vegeta?
For me it's a no brainer and Piccolo takes the cake.

Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
I don't even have to say it, people who know me already know my pick. I don't even think I have to re-explain either as I've done that enough already.
Though honestly besides that, I'll take anyone...or no one if that means we'll get a spin off or side special staring anyone else....literally anyone. I'll take anyone. I'll take Beerus, Whis, Yamcha, Muten Roshi, Mr. Satan, anyone that rips the attention from them and hands it to someone else. I don't care who, just not those 2.

As for me tho I know its very impossible and unlikely to happen, I want Master Roshi. Next Piccolo and Gohan.
Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Piccolo or Gohan.
Vegeta and Goku have surely had their time as the focus of the story.

Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Well I would like it done like One Piece actually. Krillin may not be able to keep up with Goku, but at least once every two sagas he has a villain at his own level to overcome.
But keeping in with the thread, Piccolo, and Tenshinhan's Kikoho.

Piccolo deserves it. He's the only one left of the trio that always trains.
Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Gohan should be shown as that he still can do it, other than that Piccolo should be shown to get a good deal stronger.

Gohan. Mr. Satan's master returns as a zombie and kidnaps Pan, angering Gohan and making him regain his SSJ2/Ultimate/whatever power.

Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
I'm apparently in the minority here, but I'm actually fine with Gohan 'retiring' as the only time I ever really enjoyed his character (though he was pretty cool during the Cell Games) was during the Boo arc. By that point it had become clear, at least in my eyes, that the kid just didn't take to fighting the same way the other Saiyans did, despite having an ungodly talent for it. He deserves to have a more laid back peaceful life if that's what he so wishes.
Now that aside, I definitely wish #18 had gotten to keep up at least long enough to have a fight on the side of good. If I was going to make a crazy potshot dream, of course I'd say Kuririn. But thinking about who's more likely...I guess Piccolo. Actually, you know what? I'm gonna say both Piccolo AND Kuririn. Piccolo to show that not everyone has to be a Saiyan to be capable of staying relevant, and Kuririn to show that not everyone has to be an alien at all to stay relevant.

Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Yamcha.
Remember how excited they were in the past to train & surpass Goku? And then remember how Goku and the rest of the Saiyans drove them to retirement...? Poor guys.

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Piccolo was so close to doing it during the Cell Games... then his hugely amped attacks and supposed near Vegeta status crumbles when only Vegeta can be the one who can surprise attack and distract Cell. Then he gets nerfed to oblivion when the next arc starts. He deserves his moment again dammit.

Piccolo. And the human z warriors. Gohan has had his day in the son. And every time he gets great power he becomes a sadistic sob and seeks to torture his enemy. And usually comes to bite him in his ass. Piccolo has always been a cool character. I loved his battle android 17. I just wish he get a massive power up and train with the heroes.

Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Yeah, I think the obvious answer here is Piccolo. He'd been keeping up with the Saiyans fairly well up until the Cell Games (being near Vegeta and Trunks then) and he never stops training so there'd be no reason for him not to keep moving up from that point... but SSj2 and especially SSj3, Mystic/Ultimate, Super Saiyan God, and so on just made it impossible for him to stay on the same level power-wise.
And for a more unorthodox answer: Buu and/or Uub. Fat Buu should still be at least on the upper end of SSj2 level (I think "Mr. Buu" might actually be stronger than the initial "Good Buu" after the split -- considering that Super Buu's main body seems to have basically been Kid Buu grown up while Fat Buu was tucked away in a pot, he must be more Kaioshin than Buu now, so rather than being held back by the Kaioshins' power as much as before he might be able to bring out more of it... not the full power of South + Dai Kaioshin, of course, otherwise he'd have been beating Kid Buu in their fight!... but not held back by their power as much as the original "Good Buu" was), which makes him the strongest non-Saiyan by a pretty good margin, and his weird magic abilities are super useful so he doesn't even need to be an active fighter to have an important role if you set things up the right way.
And then there's Uub... with base Goku being absurdly strong now, it seems pretty clear at this point that Uub is intended to have Kid Buu's power as his "starting/untrained" amount of dormant power (like his equivalent to the 1307 or whatever Gohan powered up to when he got angry at Raditz) rather than his full potential, so who knows how insanely huge his actual full potential might be.

Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Yeah fat buu has unlimited potential. I wanted to write a topic that he is potentially the most powerful character in the series. I am sure if he trained he could boost up to unimaginable heights and he can absorb people. But I think uub will be that character. He will be stronger then goku I think. But his story is set. After dbz. He will be stronger then goku.Pantalones wrote:Yeah, I think the obvious answer here is Piccolo. Perhaps a story when Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and the other Saiyans leave Earth to fight an enemy and whilst they are away another force tries to attack in their absence leaving Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Chiaozu, Krillin, Yajirobe and #18 to defeat them?DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Yamcha.

Considering the "too boring not enough fight" response the public gave to BoG, something like that wouldn't sell much, but would be so damn interesting.Diotor wrote:Perhaps a story when Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and the other Saiyans leave Earth to fight an enemy and whilst they are away another force tries to attack in their absence leaving Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Chiaozu, Krillin, Yajirobe and #18 to defeat them?DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Yamcha.

Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Gohan&Piccolo can get as strong as them if they wanted and are both extreme bad asses when they want to.
Will it happen ? I hope so but I don't think it will,I think this'll be a Goku&Vegeta arc from beginning to end which is OK with me cause they're my favorite characters but I would like to see some changes down the road.

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Beerus and Whis (and any new characters newly introduced). I don't want Goku and Vegeta to surpass these two easily just like they've done in the past to everyone else and then make these two characters the bottom of the barrel in terms of usefulness.
I think it has been established at this point that the humans are never gonna catch up again, and rightfully so, if they do happen to be useful once more, it'd probably be a half-assed excuse and cheap power-up. Same with Piccolo. Gohan, Goten and Trunks are a different story as they can perform the ritual at any time and be at a level similar to Goku and Vegeta (or superior, hello there SSGSS Gotenks), but it has also been established that they don't care to train or have an urge to get increasingly more powerful like their fathers do, so unless those power-ups serve as character development, as in, they embrace the fact that they have to keep training in order to uphold the peace (development that I've been waiting for Gohan for 2 whole arcs now), then I'd rather they remain weak.
If Future Trunks returns (something I highly, HIGHLY doubt), then I'd very much love for him to be given the SSJG power as well and catch up to Goku and Veggie.
Oh and I want Oob and Pan to do something too, if the series ever goes beyond the 28th TB.

Re: Characters you want to keep up with the core characters
Well, I still consider Piccolo as a core character, so not him. My pick would be Tien then. The guy has the same drive to train but just can't catch up.
