Dragon Ball Franchise on Kix (UK Channel)
I promised a friend from Rangercrew to ask if Dragon Ball Z Kai was edited a bit more for UK audiences. I also ask if they didnt resort to using The CW's version. I doubt they used the The CW version, but they did take out the afterlife part on one episode like they did.
Also, I want to explain why I didnt put this on the Kai section. Because since Dragon Ball Super is coming, it might also air on Kix.
However... Since Adult Swim has the rights now, both the Kai Buu Saga and Super will be uncut. This means the UK will need major edits. They allow a lot less violence than the USA even in really r°wholesome and family friendly° stuff like Power Rangers. Sure, some of the swearing might make it since some words are less on an issue. Kix itself allowed the word ass. Apparently Arse is more than just Ass spelled differently. I really doubt Toei wont air DB on Kix. The Corporation that actually owns Pop, Kix and Pop Girl has a REALLY friendly relationship with Toei. They even aired Pretty Cure which no country other than Canada got. (And despite some announcements saying so, it never aired on New Zealand and Australia.)
And not only that, but the UK Kix channel might actually use the Ocean version since it migh be censored for airing!
Anyway, I want to have this question answered and discuss these other issues. Feel free to close or move if its not on the right section.
EDIT:The section surrounded by °° had a more insulting word that I have removed. Sorry for any sleight it may have caused.

As far as I can tell, Kix just aired the same version that Nicktoons did.

And, since when was Power Rangers babyish?Cure Dragon 255 wrote: babyish stuff like Power Rangers.

I don't know about close relationship with Toei, but they do air a lot of Toei's shows for cheap. These are shows that would never see the light of day on TV again, Dragon Ball Z Kai was a nice surprise. I think they just air a pre-edited version, I don't think Kix have the team to edit anything further. A lot of people were guessing/hoping they were going to air the ocean version but it is very slim it will see the light of day, Kix will probably just continue to use Funi's edited dub if it still airs.

I actually adore Power Rangers, I wanted a word that conveyed Wholesomeness and Family Friendly ness. Even the very kid friendly Disney Seasons got some edits on Disney.One_Instance wrote:As far as I can tell, Kix just aired the same version that Nicktoons did. And, since when was Power Rangers babyish?Cure Dragon 255 wrote: babyish stuff like Power Rangers.
I should have just said wholesome and family friendly, not an insulting word like that.I'm sorry.
Kix has aired most of Power Rangers and Dragon Balls's Nicktoons version uncut. I hope they will air Dragon Ball Super And Buu Kai. I dont live there but I want to have Kix like you have NO IDEA. Its so awesome.

I live in the UK and I have watched many episode on Dragon Ball Z Kai and I can tell you that, unfortunately, the editing for the version on Kix! is pretty much the same as the version that aired on Nicktoons. Honestly, it's been quite a while since I've seen anime on the UK TV, so quite frankly, I'll take what I can get.

That's not unfortunate, that's great! Nicktoons really did a great job between being kid appropiate and actually being faithful and respectful to the original version. Disney XD MAULED Naruto Shippuden with a PG V ratings which should have allowed them to get away with murder (literally), and Nicktoons shows you can pull off a decent TV Y7 version of DBZ outside of Toonami.
Sure, its not uncensored (Even Pretty Cure was fully visually uncensored, No Footage cut sans the altered OP and ED.) but its great. Had DBZKai been uncut it would have had the fate Naruto had in the UK (And I swear I forgot the Horrible Jetix version of Naruto when I made my Shippuden Argument, Its an extremely lucky coincidence lol.) the kid friendlier edit allowed it to air pretty much as is.
If they had The CW version it WOULD be extremely unfortunate.

Considering I'm in my 20s, I guess I just have a very low tolerance for when blood gets edited out, especially as blatantly as it was when I watched DBZ Kai on Kix. But hey, you're right, it could be much worse.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:That's not unfortunate, that's great! Yeah. But remember, its a kids channel. Adults probably already seen it a million times already. And there are uncut DVD's in the UK, not only of DBZKai but also DBZ itself. Sure, the DBZ sets are extremely flawed but still. And keep in mind I live in a region where Uncut DBZ is pretty much non existant, because despite living in Latin America ,Home of one of the most faithful DB dubs, edited DBZKai has pretty much saturates the airwaves now. And there are NO (The caps are for emphasis, not yelling or an angry tone) DBZKai uncut DVD's, or even DBZ DVD's at all. Only Televisa in Mexico has DBZ uncut as it was intended. Every other country is insanely screwed. You are lucky.
Oh and there is no uncut DBZKai version. The edited Nick version is the only version we'll ever get.

Man, I didn't know it was that tough to be an anime fan in Latin America. It must really suck.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Yeah. But remember, its a kids channel. Re: Dragon Ball Franchise on Kix (UK Channel)
Dont Worry, we DO have that terrific DBZ dub. Sure its not available on DVD and pirating such a good dub is extremely detrimental to such a dub and the Latin American Anime industry, but we do have it good. Sure, our One Piece and Pretty Cure dubs suck ass but stil.
I want Kix so bad. They air loads of shows I love. I do know being a fan in the UK is extremely tough, no Theatrical release of BoG. That HAD to suck!

Re: Dragon Ball Franchise on Kix (UK Channel)
Does Kai still air on Kix? I remember being annoyed that they were showing loads of Power Rangers and hardly any DBZ Kai.
Re: Dragon Ball Franchise on Kix (UK Channel)
Kix do still air Kai. They have a double bill every night at 10:30. I've noticed they have a tendency to repeat the Saiyan and Frieza sagas loads but only show the Android and Cell sagas occasionally. They're currently re-airing the Cell Games for the first time in a very long time.
I wouldn't worry too much about censorship with the Buu saga. I remember Kix airing Batman of the Future which was a pretty violent show at times, and I'm pretty sure they left it completely unaltered. As far as blood is concerned the Buu saga never really had all that much compared to previous sagas anyway.
I'm pretty much 100% sure that Kix will never air the Ocean dub and quite frankly I hope they don't. We don't need all of that dub switching nonsense that plagued the Toonami UK Broadcasts. Kix have been consistent with Funimation's dub so far and I'd prefer them to keep it that way. Funimation's dub of Kai is great and there's every possibility that Ocean Kai will turn out to be another trainwreck like the Westwood Z dub.

That's not something you'd have to worry since Kai is already censored even by the uncut edition.Lord Beerus wrote:Considering I'm in my 20s, I guess I just have a very low tolerance for when blood gets edited out, especially as blatantly as it was when I watched DBZ Kai on Kix. Good point. And censoring gets even worse in Dragon Ball Kai 2.0.dbboxkaifan wrote:That's not something you'd have to worry since Kai is already censored even by the uncut edition.Lord Beerus wrote:Considering I'm in my 20s, I guess I just have a very low tolerance for when blood gets edited out, especially as blatantly as it was when I watched DBZ Kai on Kix. I take it the Videl vs Spopovich fight got cut to bits then. Ouch.
