Dragon Ball: Movie 1 - Big Green Dub Trailer

The Old Bastard is definitely there but what's odd about it is that the background music isn't the original instead some crappy replacement, which is strange considering the actual Z movies had the authentic score featured.

I'd really like to watch the whole movie with the Big Green Dub but seems to be a rarity. :(

You know, this is first time I've seen that promo. I can't believe they actually showed the Big Green Dub of the first Dragon Ball movie on Toonami. How the hell did I miss that?

The actual dub used the original music—I know this for a fact, because many years ago somebody posted a link to the first part of it here.

The music in that promo isn't crappy at all.

Watching it again, the music reminds me of one of the latter Planet of the Apes films (the original series) or late 60's - early 70's Godzilla.

I believe I've heard that music before, I just can't put my finger on it...

James Bond perhaps?

I was thinking that at first too, but I don't think that's right. But, what do I know?

It's crappy in the sense that it doesn't fit with Dragon Ball and so the ideal soundtrack to use it would have been Kikuchi's which they did according to Puto who's seen it. Lucky him.

Think of it if someone placed Faulconer or even the horrendous Menza tunes on Dragon Ball episodes, it'd just be a total utter mess and make that 'Stop' button more useful than ever.

By the way, the song in itself is great but not everything mixes well together.

Wasn't there some thread a while ago by some guy who said he had these DB Big Green movies?

No, why would it? It's fiction. The strength of the characters is not possible to reach in reality.

You might be thinking of the Z movies 1-9 plus the Z TV Specials 1-2, now that's something which is available out there and easily acquirable (digitally, that is).

I wonder if AB Groupe has this stored somewhere in their collection of Dragon Ball cassette dubs and who knows if they've got the Z movies 10-13 also dubbed but never aired. The Big Green Dub has always been one of my favourite aspects of Dragon Ball's mediocre dubs and for historic reasons it holds up quite well.

Who voiced the Old Bastard? Is he still alive? Can a reprint (in limited quantities) of the Big Green Collection be made and be signed by the Old Bastard? All questions without answers. :P

I'm talking about a guy who made a thread here a year or two ago who said he had recordings of the DB movies and GT special. I know about the Z movies and specials on DVD.

I'm pretty sure that music was exclusive to the Toonami add and not actually in the movie. And even if the Big Green crew did use replacement music then it would probably be the Megaman music from the Westwood & Blue Water dubs, seeing as they own the rights to that.

I'm fairly certain the Westwood dub BGM remains the property of Ocean or AniTunes Music since it's been used in non AB Groupe cartoons and dubs such as Megaman (like you mentioned) as well as Monster Rancher and more recently, LBX.
