A 3rd DBZ special?

If you have the DBZ BGM collection, look at page 36 in the booklet and between episodes 211 and 212, there was a special that aired on 12/31/93.

I can barely read any of the kanji (I think the first says "Zen") but it ends with "Dragonball Z" in plain english.

Could this be that "overview special" that wasn't really important and all it was is Goku and Gohan talking about the DBZ movies? I remember because Ramza used to have it raw or something in bad quality.

Maybe it was referring to the Playdia recycled VHS release from Bandai, a.k.a. the "OVA"?

It doesn't exactly have サイヤ人 in the title.

I wish I had access to a scanner or decent digicam.

Mysterious special? Did it have any new animation or was it just Goku and Gohan doing voiceovers overtop of movie clips?

That's the thing. We don't know.

Although it seems likely, since Castor says it exists (The voiceover thing, that is).

Interesting, I just noticed this extra Special in the BGM Collection booklet. Well spotted, Castor Troy.

The Special title says:

'全部見せます年忘れDRAGONBALL Z'
(Zenbu Misemasu Toshiwasure Dragon Ball Z).

It translates to 'Year of Forgotten Dragon Ball Z All Revealed', literally.

Basically, it's a New Year's Eve Special of DBZ. So, yeah, it would seem that there is a third Special. Would be great to see what it was like.

This is interesting, I have never heard about this until now. Is it possibly that "episode" that was on the third Trunks VHS tape "Z Warriors Prepare" or is it something else entirely with Funimation having made that overview episode by peiceing things together? I was always curious about that anyway, even if it is something different.

We're not talking about anything relating to FUNimation. At all.

This was something that exclusively aired on Japanese television, and never saw a home release of any kind, including on the "Dragon Box" sets.

Could this be that "World Of DragonBall Z Special" thats been floating around?

It was kinda like a narration - it summed up the entire DragonBall timeline (from DB and the Bardock Special) right up until the Cell Saga (or somewhere around that thime) in a TV Special.

There seemed to be a few new bits of animation, but hardly anything major. Mostly just stills from the Saiyan takeover of Planet Plant. The whole thing was dubbed by Funi though, so could be a different thing.

. What is being talked about was originally referenced in this thread from a Japanese product's broadcast date listing, and it's been mentioned several times that it was a Japanese special that had characters narrating over top of it, and that Ramza even had it on VHS from way-back-when.

I guess there wasn't much in terms of new footage for it to be salvaged for the Dragon Box but still.. It would have been nice to see.
