DragonBall Villains' Ears...

This is mostly just a general observation, but you can comment on any other stuff similar to what I'm about to say. Throughout DBZ (but not DB or GT), all of the main villains' ears have been in the same fashion; they look like boxes with square holes in them! Here's a list of the villains I'm talking about:
- Frieza (all forms)
- Cell (all forms)
- Buu (all forms)
Alright, so it's not all of the baddies, but it's all the ones that change form. veeeeerrrrry odd... (or at least in my opinion)

There's also a question about "recycled" character designs (kinda relating to this) that can be seen in the AskDaizenshuuEX section (It hasn't been updated in a while, so you should be able to find the question on the main page of the section.).

Don't forget Janemba! Yea...that is kinda odd, but it's really easy to draw compared to Toriyama-sensei's sophisticated ears.

Yea, I do see what you mean, it's like they are all related somehow.

I found it hard when trying to make up enemies and I find myself automatically using Buu's ears or Piccolo's. Or some type of variation.

I guess it's like Toriyama trademark, and when you think about it he was planning on finishing up after the Freeza saga so the fact that he could create even more original designs after that is nice, despite having similar ears, Freeza, Cell and Buu are all fantastic designs for characters, along with all of their forms.

In one of my Shonen Jumps he was asked that... I remember that it seemed kind of disrespectful, the way it was worded.

I can't remember exactly what he said, but he didn't really see it as a recycled design... he just thought that's what an evil alien's ears would look like. Something out of his nightmares?

From memory, it said "Why do all the villians in the series have those stubby volcano ears?" He replied "I imagined that monsters looked like that when I was a child."
Yeah, something like that.

If you think about it, any characters who wore scouters, were kind of the same idea. The ear-piece of the scouter looks quite similar to the "bad guy ear," thus Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz and all of Freeza's minions had one ear that looked like Cell's or Buu's.

Are you talking about character names? You're expected to use English spellings. Nobody around here wants to see "Seru".

Well perhaps an in universe response might be, for Cell anyway, that he inherited his ears from Frieza, whom he got cells from...?

Pui Pui and 3rd form Freeza did have that Alien-esque head.
