When Beerus dies...?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

When Beerus dies...?

Post by Soccerjam » Thu Oct 22, 2015 5:28 pm

When Beerus FINALLY dies, he will be sent to H.F.I.L. where he belongs, right? Screw the title, destruction is bad no matter what and if Yemma gives him special treatment for destroying planets with life on them does that make villains like Frieza look innocent!?

If I destroy an old, musty, uninhabited shack and build a hospital there, am I going to Hell?

Do we even know for sure that deities get sorted into Heaven or Hell? King Kai seems to still be hanging around wherever he wants, and the same seemed to be true of Elder Kai (even if he was only dead briefly, in the middle of the Boo chaos). It could be that deities get the privilege of doing whatever the heck they wanna do.

Calling Beerus evil is like saying a tornado is evil for destroying a village. His job is to destroy, it's a necessity of the universe like its a necessity for humans to breathe. Whether or not you agree with the way Beerus goes about his job is irrelevant, either he destroys 10 planets every few decades or an entire universe will (presumably) be annihilated. Freeza is another matter, Freeza basically had the freedom to do whatever he wanted with his life and he consciously chose to be an evil bastard who murdered for fun and sport. Beerus didn't.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Errrr ... that's always a very bad excuse to defend someone who does something morally questionable. Beerus has the choice to judge when his job is done justified but really nothing he does is actually justified. He does it out of personal reasons. He does not just look at the universe and say "hm ... okay, it is time for that planet to die, its time has come, it is a planet with too negative consequences for the universe (THIS would have been perfect for Earth!), he just is a moody person that does what he wants and takes "does not matter, I am a deity" or "Destruction is my nature" as an excuse, just as people here do. A tornado does not do that. It does not kill because it wants to. A lion wants to kill but does it only because of pure instinct and has no individual consciousness as a person as well as no moral thinking as it is the construct of people. Beerus IS a person. He might not have the same morals but he is very well aware of it as well as does he have morals - he even knows the concept of mercy and chooses to follow it whenever he wants. Still he just choses what he wants to do in a more selfish way (of course when it comes to basic psychology everything we do comes from us wanting it but that is not what I meant with it). That is why he very well is somewhat evil. It is his job to destroy for balance, not to be a complete a-hole by doing so.

If he dies then I would imagine things will go out of order. I remember when Galactus died in the 616 universe and it cause Abraxas to be released which almost destroyed everything. So Beerus can't die.

I never said I like the way Beerus goes about doing his job, I don't and that's why I think he's technically a "bad" God of Destruction. But the fact of the matter is, Beerus has to do what he does. Beerus can choose to not do his job and instead of him killing a few billion every 50 or so years, trillions more will die with perhaps the integrity of the entire multiverse coming into question with one of the twelve gone. Oh and, if your entire point for existing is to murder billions, you can basically be viewed as an asshole no matter what you do but at the end of the day, in the Dragon Ball universe, billions most die so that many more can live and be born at some point from their ashes.

Eh, not exactly the same. What you do is always bad then for some, no doubt about it. But at least no one can blame you for doing it just because of personal reasons but because of judging it the way it is supposed to be: Fitting for the growth of the universe. Now as thinking, individual beings of course there will always be an emotional side and we all will also choose stuff for our own good, no doubt about that - and in some situations I think that is even the better choice - but the way Beerus does it is very exaggerated. It is like people in real life abusing their position for personal reasons - which happens a lot. Their job is also needed. They are a-holes nonetheless. I also think Beerus is a very questionable character for Dragon Ball because it is possible to read him as the person that does morally questionable things but you can hang out with him as long as he does not do anything bad to you or you cannot do anything against him. That is a very bad message (obviously not intended but it still comes from hanging out with someone like that) and I hope not too many see that. Vegeta was very similiar to that but at least he does not kill people just out of his mood now. If Beerus becomes similiar to that - fine.

Both Kaio and Kaioshin refuse to call Beerus evil (even when Goku asks Kaio), he's essentially a neutral force in the Dragon Ball universe, regardless of fan opinion. He's not going to Hell no matter what he does; he'll probably keep his body just like Kaio did.

Vegeta is still arguably worse than Beerus in this regard. Vegeta murdered countless for the thrill of it and has never been shown really being remorseful for any of it. He's arguably even worse than Freeza because at least with Freeza and Beerus, you can probably keep your head intact just by cooperating with them and doing their bidding, Vegeta just killed anyone and everyone because he could and it remains very creepy at how leisurely everyone hangs out around him with these facts in mind.

Beerus always have and always will have the excuse that his killing is necessary for the health of the universe. The way he goes about doing it may not be to mine, your or many other peoples liking but as I said, either a few billion die or all life across the multiverse does. He HAS to do it regardless of any objections he himself may have had before or still does somewhere in the back of his head. It's quite possible Beerus might've even tried to do things with a more thoughtful approach, trying to weigh the pros and cons of destroying one planet over another and simply decided it was easier this way than to potentially drive himself nuts by agonizing over every decision and consequence.

Yes, because I lived there and just happened to step out for a minute.

If a volcano erupts and destroys a city, does that mean the volcano is evil and is going to hell?

Whis said that another god could take his place. The Kaioshins are just as important as Beerus if not as strong, and when most of them died the universe didn't collapse or anything.

I personally think Beerus was given the Job, to be the God of Destruction and to Destroy as he see fit. Now a good one would probably destroy planet's that are a threat to others. A bad one would just go around killing for no reason. Beerus in my opinion is good nor bad, as I don't think he even cares who dies or lives, or what planet he destroys. It simply comes down to the matter of who pisses him off on what planet. In a way he is neutral, since he doesn't exactly make slaves of people (Which he could), and he doesn't really destroy for the benefit of mankind either. He's.... just Beerus, a being who destroy's to make way for creation, after all the universe would eventually get to crowded if planet's were never destroyed. He is the Yin to the Yang, a necessary balance in life itself. Therefore I don't think he'd go to Heaven or Hell, he might keep his body or there might be a place for God's to go when they die if he chooses too.
