I've been thinking about this recently after reading the thread about Chris Ayres redubbing Frieza's pre-Kai lines, and another thread surrounding the alleged Kai Ocean dub.
Basically how can this cycle of Dragon Ball Z releases and re-releases be resolved?
I'm sure many will say they are happy with their Dragon Boxes and Kai Blus, but others will feel there is still a need to make everyone happy. Obviously in theory the latter could only be achieved if they put out a complete (not discontinued like the level sets) 4:3 Blu-Ray set (and DVD alternative for those without Blu-Ray players) with the American and Japanese soundtracks for each respective version (English dub, Japanese with English subs). That would hopefully resolve the need for a "definitive" Z release.
As for Kai, it appears unlike the original Z a lot of people are happy with its English dub, so the current DVD and Blu-Ray sets should suffice. The problem then would be to satisfy fans (as seen in the Kai forum) who want an Ocean dub. It's been teased that this dub has been recorded (maybe with the exception of the Buu arc) but without distribution rights releasing it would be a problem unless they worked out some sort of a deal with Funimation. So if this dub ever sees the light of day it may be best if any home media future re-releases of Kai include the Japanese version, and both the Funimation in-house and Ocean dubs with the Kikuchi and Yamamoto scores.
And then of course Super has its own problems with the first two arcs being rewrites of the movies, but perhaps, apart form the canon problems its not as bad in terms of home releases because the first DVD and Blus are only coming out in Japan now and it doesn't already have a convoluted past of Funimation re-releases.
These are just some ideas I had, everyone else here is free to agree or disagree.
