Goten & Trunks in 'Super'

Do you think they will finally look older by the time Freeza finishes his 4 month training or by the time the Champa arc comes? I wonder why the producers of the show are so hesitant to make them age in the series.

They will likely not appear at all until Toriyama gives the word. If they do, they will look the same. Toei is not taking ANY risks.

I hope they do but I don't think they will.

They probably want someone for the kids to relate to.

Both them and Toriyama are playing it safe which is already having a negative affect on the show even though we're only 18 episodes in so hopefully they change things up before it's too late.

Goku got a wild growth spurt right? They'll probably do something similar to the kids or say something like since they both missed the Saiyan tail gene this hindered their growth or something.

Manga FT was more similar to his main counterpart with the whole trading off a tail for a Super Saiyan thing and he aged properly.

It could maybe happen if Bra and Pan took their place as kids, but I don't think that'd happen. It probably won't happen especially because I don't think we're leaving the 10 year gap any time soon, if not ever.

Gohan also aged properly in DBZ. By Cell Games he looked a lot different from his pre-Chamber of Time self.
I really hope Toriyama will design Goten and Trunks to look a little older. It's easy, make them a little taller and change their face a little to look more mature.

I think Toriyama will eventually age them in another year or two of time skip -- yeah, Gohan aged more naturally, but I think as long as he starts aging them by age 14/15, then it is not super unusual for the series, since that is when he aged Goku and Krillin, and Trunks in the special was 14 years.

It was at Toriyama's insistence that Goku was aged the first time, I don't see why he wouldn't age Trunks and Goten *eventually*, especially if they can have Baby Pan and Baby Bra for little kids antics. It is not like Trunks or Goten are major characters anyway.

I think their lack of aging right now is just due to how irrelevant they are for this story. The anime staff is including them (well, just Goten so far), unlike the movie, but it seems like their role will be pretty irrelevant anyway. So, Toriyama didn't bother redesigning them at all and they're just carrying on the BoGs arc designs.

Ok, I don't see how how a character *looks* can possibly be blamed on the writing.

Marron looks the right age in relation to Trunks and Goten, who look the wrong age, but relative to each other they all look right -- Trunks looking like the oldest, then Goten, then Marron. Then again, Maron might also be a little person/extremely short and never be that tall like Krillin, so maybe she will never be very tall.

Pan looks a few months old and is a few months old. Why should she look older? She looks more appropriately aged than Baby Trunks ever did, who looked like an infant at 6+ months.

They'll stay kids forever in Super, becuase those appearances are what sell the most merch. I mean, do you see GT Trunks or Goten on merchandise shelves that much?

GT Trunks and GT Goten don't sell because they're ****ing terrible characters, both in terms of personality and design.

Teen Trunks and Goten, done right, should by all means be better in every way to those annoying twerps.

But Super should be trying to sell new merch, since Kai's merchandising failed due to lack of new content. Still, considering their roles so far in this show, it's not like people would be buying merch based on any new designs for Goten and Trunks here, considering how they haven't really gotten spotlight after the first couple of episodes.

Depending on the time jump post FnF Arc, most characters should get some new designs. Right now they're just reusing what they have from the movies.
The kids having Goku's growth rate isn't really a issue. I fail to understand why some people are so turned off by it.

The reason I dislike GT (and EoZ) Trunks is because he's way too similar to Future Trunks. That's not to say I hate his future counterpart--on the contrary, I love him--but Kid Trunks has too much spunk (Gotenks is basically 100% Trunks!) to develop the way he did, imo. The difference between the two should be day and night.
