Wanna help? [Dragonbox]

Post by tablet the eunuch » Wed Mar 24, 2004 7:57 pm

I'm.... prety much at the end of my string here. It's just getting far too annoying.

See, there's been a problem with me getting the Dragon Boxes for a while now. It's not that I don't want them, quite the opposite infact, it's just that I am having horrid luck obtaining one.

First off, was the initial interest about half way last year. After deciding every three weeks that I did and did not, I ended up loosing nearly more money than I earnt (which wasnt much, but still). So I left it on hold. Four months later, after completely forgetting about it, someone on IRC brings it back up. I take a small loan from my brother, he even puts some money in, and I sell a bunch of stuff, and ut some of my own mney in. Then, we go and look for them. he says that "I would prefer if you got Number #2 first". I thought "Fine, I can deal with that", so I went and bought one for 85000 yen. Shipping wasn't too much, When it gets here though, I am landed with another $200 import tax thing. I get annoyed, before realising I also had a tracking number and what not, so I get over it and pay the fee eventually. Dragonbox 2 is mine.

From there on, it gets irritatingly stupid, to websites not agreeing to credit card informaiton, to other people spending the money on the credit card, to god knows what else. Finally, I decide on Yahoo! Auctions in Japan, but I've got to go through a bidding service, called Rinkya. I manage to find several Dragonbox 1s at decent prices, so I bookmark em. THen I find out Rinkya are somewhat irritating, requiring all kinds of steps to do before even considering purchasing a damn thing, and by then what you want is gone.

Anyway, yesterday apon furhter inspection, a great deal of those Dragonbox 1's are missing

-The Goku Figurine, which I dont mind
-The Booklet, which I want
-THE BOX FOR CHRISTS SAKE

So this has put me off edge. I cold try to get another one from Animejungle.com, but once again they would probably deny my credit card for no real reason. I tried Amazon.co.jp, but two of the sellers baild on me, either selling to to someone else or just dissappearing (thankfully, not with my money). And now, one seller sells them, and hes asking for, if you're luck, at the very least 150,000 yen and up. It's getting somewhat hectic, and annoying. So...

If I can't get it by May, then I give up. Completely and utterly. I also cancel my pre-order at Amazon for the Dragonball Dragonbox. And then, I will sell a pretty decent condition Dragonbox 2. So I am asking of you fine, wonderful people to EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY FRIENDS OR RELATIVES WHO OWN ONE AND WANT TO SELL IT TO ME. I also have some stuff to trade aswell, if that helps.

My email address is steven_is_here_@Hotmail.com. I look forward to your replies (though I will need pictures and what not, plus it has to be sent with tracking)

Thanks.

At this point ... I think it'd be cheaper just to fly to Japan, pick up Dragonbox yourself, then fly back. :P

M-Vegeta might have a point there. Tablet, another bidding service you might want to try is CELGA, I haven't actually tried them myself but I've been to their website and checked them out on a recommendation and they seem pretty good. Maybe they would be better than that Rikya one you used. Only thing is that they only accept Paypal or credit card and they usually want the payment in a couple of days. I'm afraid that's the only help I can offer, sorry I can't give you more. I hope you "luck out" and manage to find one. 8)

I find it odd how I change my mood so quickly.

I'm just thinking though, I could technically get those two other sets, but heres the problem... I relaly dont notice the quality difference all that much. And I dont relaly truely care for the japanese "next time on dragonball" bits. So....

Screw it/ Just cancelled preorder for DB box, and I will be ebaying/whatevering my DBZ box 2.

The ammount of money I'd be parting with, theres plenty better stuff to buy. I'll just get the FUNimation DVDs sometime this august.

How were you planing on watching them? I mean, with the different region. No English subtitles is another downer.

Region coding is not a problem in Australia, due to most players (well, I think most) have no region coding as standard.

As for English subtitles, i've already got a half-decent understand as to what they've talking about.

I'd still keep it for archival purposes, considering that "burnable" media has an impressivley less life than professionally pressed media.

Besides, if you sell them, do it in about a year or two. Unless you're desperate for cash.
