GT's Hell Portal

Post by Bulma's Foot Masseur » Mon Dec 07, 2015 9:21 am

For years I always thought it was totally stupid that Hell Fighter 17 could telepathically brainwash Regular Android 17 from Hell, but I was rewatching the saga earlier and discovered something. After Goku gets trapped in Hell and asks King Yemma if he can help him escape, Yemma replies by saying that he can't due to there being strange forces at work on Earth that "he doesn't understand at all", followed by an image of a cracked Dragon Ball.

One way or another, Yemma confirms that the balls' negative energy was affecting reality even before Black Smoke Shenron was summoned. Could that have weakened the fabric between the life and afterlife, thus making the whole "Android 17 gets brainwashed by a character he's never met who is in Hell" plot point easier to swallow? If it turns out Gero had actually been waiting years for this moment (with some last minute help from Myuu), that'd make a lot of sense, because otherwise I don't see what's stopping them from plotting this exact same scheme again after Android 17 is brought back to life.

Good catch on the dragonball being cracked and such. Things like this are missed almost all the time. The fact that they are cracked could indeed be what is effecting the different dimensions and thus allowing for things to happen that normally would not be able to. If Shenlong (Shenron) could effect things from various dimensions when granting wishes, for example bringing people back to life, moving people in and out of dimensions, stuff like that, then why wouldn't the energy from the cracked dragonballs do the same? The fact that they were cracked could release a great deal of negative energy. When they're used that last time that's when the energy is released all at once, instead of a steady stream as was happening when they were just cracked under the pressure of the negative energy. Make sense?
