Cooler's Revenge vs ROF, which do you like more?

As in the title, I think these two can work well for comparsion - Cooler's revenge versus Freeza's revenge. Which do you like more/less? Which has better writing, action, pacing, utilization of characters, new characters, music, animation, overall execution etc. ?

ROF for me because it was able to have a good serious storyline while having a good amount of humor in it. Freeza return in the movie felt like a proper return since he was defeated too easily in Fusion Reborn and GT in my opinion. DBZ Movie 6 had really bad animation and the only thing I like about the movie is the scene where Goku and Vegeta team up. Not to mention I find the writing in DBZ Movie 6 to be bad and the movie gets worst with each viewing in my opinion.

Cooler's Revenge is Movie 5

Shit for a second I thought we where talking about DBZ Movie 6. I tend to forget the Funimation English titles for the old movies. I still take ROF over DBZ Movie 5. DBZ Movie 5 is fun and all, but it's also kinda forgettable too. Coola himself is nothing that special outside his 5th form.

As much as I dislike both Coola films, I'll have to say that F is in a league of its own when it comes to shittyness. M5 didn't have any severe writing issues, it was just a bit bland and boring. F has a lot of severe writing issues ON TOP of being boring.

They're both pointless with F being the second worst example of blatant fanboy pandering (Force Awakens is the crown champion) that has some good fighting choreography while Cooler doesn't even have that, so I guess F wins.

While it's been years since I've seen Cooler's Revenge, I'm gonna have to go with ROF by far. While ROF was flawed in it's story telling and slight pandering to fans (which I feel people grossly exaggerate given the old movies were essentially nothing but attempts to pander to fans), it was at least entertaining in both the choreography and character interactions.

While I feel the Cooler's Revenge movie was retread of the battle with Freeza, I would have been completely fine with it if not for the fact that the movie was ultimately very boring. The only worthwhile fight was probably when Goku was fighting Cooler because you can see the desperation of Goku against this menacing foe, but honestly, it's still stupid because it's something I've seen before over and over again. Sure maybe when the movie came out it was somewhat new, but the thing is it's aged horribly. It's boring. I don't want to see pointless one sided beat downs when it's supposed to be climax of the film. While the same thing can be said to some degree with the ROF, that movie at least properly built it up. Goku didn't just go SSGSS and start owning Freeza. Freeza had the edge but made the mistake of not mastering his new found might against Goku which proved to be his downfall. When Freeza's lackey sucker-punched Goku with the ray gun, it felt cathartic to see a beaten up Freeza get owned by a SSGSS Vegeta because he didn't play by the rules so neither should Vegeta. I'm not gonna defend the ending though... That made me sad...

The ROF also had characters that feel like the characters. Goku felt like Goku and Vegeta felt like Vegeta. Gohan was Gohan and Freeza was Freeza. The characters also had fun lines and played off each other perfectly because that's what they do best and because they had the running time to include these great character interactions. In Cooler's Revenge, most of the characters are fine for the most part besides Goku who has oddly become some animal Messiah, but the problem is that these character interactions are mostly taken away in favor of boring fight scenes and saving animals.

I won't deny that Cooler's Revenge did have some interesting moments in it, such as the whole, "I should've killed Goku when I had the chance" moment, but in the end, it's not a movie I watch every year or every other year or really at all.

I don't think I ever watched that movie. I watched the "sequel" and it was "meh". I loved RoF, but the theater experience made up for a lot.

Resurrection F, hands down. Better animation, better fight scenes, better fanservice and a greater amount of good humour too. But I will say that Cooler's Fifth Form is a way better design than Golden Freeza, I'll give it that.

Coola's Revenge is one of the DBZ worst movies.
Goku spents half the time hidden in a cave, waiting for Gohan to bring me a senzu, while nothing interesting is happening. Piccolo's fights with Coola's soldiers are ok but not memorable. The movie only starts to get interesting again after Goku is healed.

In other hand, ROF is one of my favourite Dragon Ball Movies ever. Even though it has some flaws. As a Toei movie is perfect, but I expected more from Toriyama.
Still, it was the kind of Movie I was expecting BOG to be. A old school Toei (more serious) Movie with Toriyama special touch.

They're both pretty pointless, but movie 5 is so much better than FnF. The plot, such as it is, doesn't insult my intelligence. The action doesn't flat out bore me. The minions are more interesting. The Super Saiyan transformation is better. And as far what's beneath the surface, movie 5 is one of the better ones in terms of actually being somewhat poignant. The whole idea of Coola letting Goku live as a baby because Freeza is just too soft, only for the irony to hit him right before he dies is just excellent. Oh, and the music when that happens. Amazing. Nothing in FnF even comes close to reaching that.

Cooler's Revenge hands down. It had a lot of tension, the fights were fun, Cooler is possibly my favorite movie villain. Having Goku be KO'ed for most of the movie really does add to the direness of the movie and this gets hammered in further once Cooler transforms, you realize that even if Goku wasn't KO'ed Cooler had the advantage. Also...I really liked the Armored squadron.

5th Form Cooler was badass (you might even say iconic), while Golden Frieza was ugh...

The plot in Cooler's Revenge was vintage DBZ

Goku & Co hanging-out, Villain pops, Goku out of action, Chaos & tension arises, Goku is BACK for some kickass action!

ROF was asspull after asspulls.

The animation is probably better in Movie 5, but F has the hand-holding teleport, so.

Cooler's Revenge and RoF are DB movies I place in the "meh" category. Neither are among the best DB movies have to offer but I wouldn't say either is god awful either. However I do think Movie 5 has the edge here.

Comparing them back to back, it's funny how they both succeed in different ways and how they fail in different ways.

To me, the prologue and everything after Piccolo shows up is great. Everything in between is just pretty boring. No action, just a lot of sneaking around. I get that it's supposed to be tense with the heroes being completely outclassed, but it just comes off as filler and a way to pad the movie out.

RoF has some really high points, but that's pretty much it. The story is so forced and nonsensical, creating so many plot holes and inconsistencies with power.It has no stakes and doesn't have anything to contribute to the overall lore of DB other than Freeza's Golden Form.

Movie 5> Movie 15.

Cooler's squad was better than Freeza's in "F". That's about it. "F" was a lot more enjoyable and was actually quite humorous. Also SSGSS so "F" hands down.
