Have any FUNI VA's ever posted on this forum?
Given this forum has existed since the early 2000's, have any FUNI VA's like Chris Sabat or Sonny Straight ever registered an account and posted here? Even if they only posted a small handful of times and left, does anyone know?
Re: Have any FUNI VA's ever posted on this forum?
I want to say Sean Schemmel and somebody from Faulconer productions have posted here before. I could be wrong though because I think it was before my time here and I'm just recalling somebody saying they did.

Sean schemel actually was a member on here at one time, unfortunately penguintruth decided to be a complete and utter dick with rude posts and personal attacks towards schemel and basically scared him away.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

Was he the one that had a big quote from Schemmel as a signature for a long time? I remember somebody having a quote where Schemmel said even though he played Goku he didn't like the direction they had him playing or something like that.

More specifically, if you're talking about Scott Morgan, he still posts regularly: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/memberl ... ile&u=3494dario03 wrote:I want to say Sean Schemmel and somebody from Faulconer productions have posted here before. Re: Have any FUNI VA's ever posted on this forum?
The Schemmel incident took place a long time ago. Pre-Kai. Maybe pre-JumpTour08 special. Maybe during the Ultimate Uncut era?
I barely remember it; all I know is it resulted in one of those long argument back-and-forth threads between the two parties before Schemmel left for good.
It's a shame things turned out the way they did; having someone from the VA's regularly posting (even if they no longer live in Texas where Funi's studio is) would've been interesting/informational.

Nope, was in response to Dragon Soul lyrics: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... 16&t=13187Chuquita wrote:The Schemmel incident took place a long time ago. Pre-Kai. Maybe pre-JumpTour08 special. Maybe during the Ultimate Uncut era?

EDIT: You can also easily find something in response to the ocean dub in a separate thread.

Whew, no. It was in 2010. Well, obviously Pokewhiz7 has already provided the proof, but it's something I recall so vividly I just had to chime in.Chuquita wrote:The Schemmel incident took place a long time ago. Pre-Kai. Maybe pre-JumpTour08 special. Maybe during the Ultimate Uncut era?
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Was there ever any proof that was really Schemmel though?

Re: Have any FUNI VA's ever posted on this forum?
Saying he "scared him away" would imply that Schemmel had been taking part in friendly discussion until penguintruth decided to hurl insults at him, and forcing him to leave the forum. I'm no fan of penguintruth but I feel the need to point out that this isn't what actually happened. If you dig up Schemmel's posts it's clear that his only motivation for being here was to respond directly to criticism about him, nothing more. I would argue that Schemmel would never have even bothered joining this forum had people not been critical of him in the first place.superrayman3 wrote:Sean schemel actually was a member on here at one time, unfortunately penguintruth decided to be a complete and utter dick with rude posts and personal attacks towards schemel and basically scared him away.

IIRC Schemmel called Kanzenshuu/Daizenshuu EX " A bunch of assholes".
On a sidenote I love PenguinTruth's post. They're super funny.

Re: Have any FUNI VA's ever posted on this forum?
All I'll say about the Schemmel/Penguintruth exchange is that I don't believe either party handled it well.
With all due respect to both of them, both of them could have had the discussion they had in calmer, more mature language, but they both decided to be unnecessarily rude and confrontational towards one another. I can't lay the blame solely with either of them. I mean, on the one hand, it's not a good idea to confront somebody on the internet who doesn't like your work. This is the internet...people are gonna have opinions, many of which will not be maturely expressed, and if you're putting your work out there for the world to see, then you need to have a thick skin. On the other hand, when Schemmel asked Penguintruth to clarify what he meant by "somebody with no talent" (referring to Schemmel), rather than going into a mature and detailed explanation (which is one of the reasons I love Kanzenshuu), his response was, "Yeah, you're really lighting the world on fire, aren't you?" That's a rude response that doesn't go into any detail, and he had a great opportunity to do the exact opposite.
And for what it's worth, their back-and-forth exchange came back to bite both of them in different ways.
In any event, I'm not here to rag on either of them. Rather, I'm here to make a suggestion. Whether they should be reading about it online or not (and they shouldn't be responding in a confrontational manner either way), voice actors do read about what people think about their performances. Rude and unspecific critiques are just that, rude and unspecific. They help nobody. On the other hand, detailed and specific critiques are quite appreciated, as it's entirely possible that fans may pick up on something in a performance that even the director hasn't, and actors can use that to help improve their performances in the future. So, without wanting to sound like I'm lecturing anybody, as far as I'm concerned the lessons learned from this exchange should be: have a thick skin, be kind, and be detailed. Then everybody wins.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Re: Have any FUNI VA's ever posted on this forum?
I'd love it Schemmel came back or one of the other FUNi VAs posted sometime. There is so much mystery to the early days of DBZ in the US and it would interesting if we got some additional insight from people on the production side of things.
Personally I think modern FUNi Dragonball is well-acted and clever. I'm more a fan of the Japanese version, but the US cast has evolved to the point where they honestly deserve praise for their work. This may come off a bit too optimistic, but If they did come visit these forums again we'd get a chance to compliment them on their current efforts while having thoughtful discussions.

I blame VegettoEX and the moderation team doing poor job of not breaking up their arguments. It's a shame it turned out like this. Kanzenshuu gave him a bad impression when he completely left the forums. This shouldn't happen in the first place, anyway, both parties not being smart about handling that situation professionally. I hope in one day when VAs participate here the moderators will do better job handling the situations with better judgment. Be rational, less douchebaggery, do your job properly, and both parties are happy.Chuquita wrote:The Schemmel incident took place a long time ago. Pre-Kai. Maybe pre-JumpTour08 special. Its a shame some Dragonball fans act so nasty to the FUNimaion voice actors. Even if you're not a fan of their work, at least show them some damn respect when they show up to interact with fans.
Especially given we're not in 1999 anymore, the voice actors all do fantastic jobs now.
