Why didn't Goku meet Grandpa Gohan in the afterlife?
Why didn't Goku meet Grandpa Gohan in the afterlife?
Goku dies twice, and yet we never see him meet Grandpa Gohan again for the entire span of DBZ. Am I the only one who finds that odd or disappointing?

Maybe he did in the seven year gab between Cell and Buu off screen.

Re: Why didn't Goku meet Grandpa Gohan in the afterlife?
I almost certain that Goku and Gohan met each other in heaven again during the gap between the end of the Cell arc and the beginning of the Majin Boo arc, considering that Grandpa Gohan got to keep his body. The idea itself is really a wonderful thought and it's such a shame that the Z anime never ran with it.

I'd make a guess that he probably did, we just never got to see it sadly.

Well, for whatever reason Bardock and Gine also did not meet with their son. These reunions we might never be able to see it and how they probably would play out.

I'm pretty certain Bardock and Gine are rotting in Hell. They may have cared for their kin, but that doesn't negate the fact that they were space pirate and for many years took part in mass genocide of countless species, while willfully working for an evil galactic overlord.Hot Rod wrote:Well, for whatever reason Bardock and Gine also did not meet with their son. Gine was notoriously bad at her job. She likely would have been treated like the normal people who died that aren't evil or heroes.Lord Beerus wrote:I'm pretty certain Bardock and Gine are rotting in Hell. It would have been hella awesome if Grandpa was actually watching Goku train along with King Kai and South Kai at the beginning of the Majin Buu arc. It may have been probably the only reasonable cameo he could have made in all of Z.
Out of Universe reason? Grandpa Gohan no longer mattered after fighting Goku in Baba's tournament. In Universe reason? Just like the Bulma/Vegeta courting and the Krillin/Eighteen courting, Goku and Grandpa Gohan spending time together happened off screen.
Re: Why didn't Goku meet Grandpa Gohan in the afterlife?
As already said above, Gine was not cut out as a warrior and was saved many times. So I would not be surprised if she could not/never even kill/killed anyone before and was sent to Heaven.

Goku didn't seem to care for his real parents. So I doubt he wanted to visit Bardock and Gine. To Goku, Grandpa Gohan is the one that help take care of him as a baby.

Grandpa Gohan got stomped to death after death by a giant gorilla monster in the other world. This triggered Goku's SSJ3 transformation.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

But that doesn't negate the fact that Gine willingly took part in acts of mass genocide for quite a while before retiring because she wasn't efficient enough in killing. She ain't no saint.Hot Rod wrote:As already said above, Gine was not cut out as a warrior and was saved many times. I could ROFL any day to this postfadeddreams5 wrote:Grandpa Gohan got stomped to death after death by a giant gorilla monster in the other world. This triggered Goku's SSJ3 transformation.
On topic, guess there was filler scene in Goku & Chi-Chi's Wedding Arc, where they gotta search Basho Fan to clear fire at Gyuumaou's Palace.
Which led to Goku meeting Grandpa Gohan (with some weird guardian)
By end of conflict, its pretty much a happy resolve. Gohan was more than happy to spend his time with that princess/guardian
Regardless, I still feel Goku must have met him in 7 years gap. He simply adores his Grandpa too much, though as adult I doubt his nature.
Its guys like Granpa Gohan & Mutaito Sama that TOEI should "ressurect" instead of Golden Frieza, Platinum Cell & Diamond Buu
Cuz old guys like this could:
1. Give old-school (80's-90's) fans a dial-back to how "original" DragonBall was. Giving much needed break to MOAR & MOAR POWA!!!
2. Old guys are awesome. Netero (HXH), 3rd Hokage etc. Give Mutaito-Sama & Gohan some unique capabilities, which could rejuvenate the whole "martial arts & chi" aspect which has been dyin since Buu Arc

Well guilty by association is a crime in plenty of mortal institutions. Does it buy you a one way ticket to Hell? I'm going with inconclusive because I'm not even trying to start a debate on morality and ethics, but will remind everyone that Vegeta still slaughtered that village but everything came up daisies for him still; The series doesn't say where neutral souls would go, but I think she goes there.Lord Beerus wrote:But that doesn't negate the fact that Gine willingly took part in acts of mass genocide for quite a while before retiring because she wasn't efficient enough in killing. Re: Why didn't Goku meet Grandpa Gohan in the afterlife?
Everything didn't come up daisies for Vegeta. During the Majin Boo arc, Vegeta was practically told he going straight to hell for all the evil shit he did in his life. And the only reason he got a second chance was because the Gods were in a desperate stage with Majin Boo on the verge of reeking havoc in the universe unchallenged.FoolsGil wrote:Well guilty by association is a crime in plenty of mortal institutions. Goku doesn't care about his real parents, hell, he doesn't even like the family he does he anymore than he likes say Krillin. Grandpa Gohan is the only family Goku's ever had that he's actually, completely loved.Hot Rod wrote:Well, for whatever reason Bardock and Gine also did not meet with their son. Vegeta blew up himself just to kill Buu. He also help Goku and the others many times in the past. Without Vegeta, they would have never defeated the Ginyu Force, Frezza and Cell. He also save Goku's life from #19 seeing that #19 almost killed him.everyone that Vegeta still slaughtered that village but everything came up daisies for him still

Re: Why didn't Goku meet Grandpa Gohan in the afterlife?
Vegeta's reasoning for killing Ginyu, Freeza and assisting Goku were completely selfish. The first two are in the way of his current objective and he bluntly tells Goku he'll kill him once the Androids are dealt with anyhow. He's also the reason Cell, The Androids and Boo even become an issue in the first place though Goku's stupidity does help out a great deal too.Hellspawn28 wrote:Vegeta blew up himself just to kill Buu. Obviously none of this means anything in the DB universe since Vegeta got revived by Porunga at the end of the Boo Saga but Vegeta keeping Beerus' attention occupied is basically the first threat he actively stops to help without his own selfish ends in mind or something he helped escalate.

Re: Why didn't Goku meet Grandpa Gohan in the afterlife?
I think Grandpa Gohan was reborn as Gohan (budhist things).
I am Mirai Popo, the legendary Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, a Makaioshin, the Dragon God of the Ultimate Dragon Balls. Half namekian, half wolf, half robot. I am the dragonborn and the Messiah of the future. The king of the smurfs. I am Captain of the Ginyu Force, I beated Satan at the World Martial Arts Tournament final. I spanked the crap out of super saiyan 8 Goku on Dragon Ball AF. I am top tier, fear me.
