Chapter 1: The Journey to Space Austraila
“I can't believe it bro! We're on our way to the first ever DB-Con! This is huge!”
Danny was very excited as he looked outside his plane window with nothing but ocean below him. He felt a surge of excitement in his spine. He imagined this is probably the same excitement that Kuririn and Yamcha felt as they flew towards the 22nd Budokai. Zeon looked over at Danny from the seat next to him not to impressed.
“I mean, a DB-con is a neat idea and all, I just don't get why it's in Australia! If anything it should be in Japan!”
“Well” Danny replied, “That's true bro and I agree with you, but the cool thing is that at least we'll get to see Gabby and Kay. I hear Megan got hired to do some promotion in her cosplay at the event so she's flying out too!”
“No shit?” Zeon replied. “Awesome, it'll be nice having that sort of whole crew together”.
Danny looked over to the aisle seat in his row next to Zeon, where Lance was deep in concentration playing some video game on his Gameboy Advance.
“Hell, I bet Lance is the one that's the most excited since he's never met any of them in person! Yo! He's so excited he forgot how to dress himself! HA!” Lance paused his game and looked down at the tutu he was wearing.
“Hey! Flying makes me nervous” he retorted. “The tutu relaxes me.” Danny smiled .
“It's cool bro. If anything it looks great on you. Kinda turning me on!” Zeon then gave a playful frown.
“Gee! Thanks Danny! And what am I? Chop Liver?”
The 3 Florida flyers gave out a hearty chuckle, not noticing the confused face of the man sitting in front of them who had heard the whole thing. Suddenly, a large ding was heard. The flight attendant spoke.
“Alright everybody! We are about to start passing out your lunch. Today we are serving a nice grilled chicken breast with a side of veggies and mashed potatoes. A flight attendant will be with you shortly to pass out your meal. Enjoy!” The attendant hung up the mic and began pushing a cart down the aisle stopping every 3 steps to serve people their food. Eventually, she made her way down to the middle of the plane where the 3 young men were seated. They put their trays down opened up and started eating.
“You know, I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone and it'll be awesome.” Zeon stated, “But it just sucks that we have to put up with all this shitty airline food! You call this chicken? It's a piece of plastic with TV dinner vegetables on the side! Jesus fucking christ it's horrible!”
“Yeah, it's not that good” Lance replied. “But to be fair their job isn't to keep us well fed, just to keep us alive long enough to reach our destination.”
“I'm just happy to get some food. I'm starving. At this point I'll eat anything!” Zeon looked at Danny's pudgy belly and refrained from making the easy fat joke.
Zeon sarcastically said “Well, the good part is it's only 10 more hours until we reach Abu Dhabi for our layover! That means well get another opportunity to eat all of this wonderful food.”
Danny grinned “Hey bro! I bet people who don't know any better think we're dropping you off there Zeon! Hahaha!” Lance tried holding in the laugh but let out a loud snort which caused Danny to laugh harder, which in turn caused Lance and Zeon to also burst out laughing. However at this point Zeon started to regret not making that fat joke.
The 3 Youtubers had met up in Orlando to fly out from there to Sydney where DB-con would be held. Zeon had the longest drive, but Danny and Lance were able to carpool together. They met a day before their flight and had a fun and eventful day at Disneyworld. It was a bit packed, even for a Thursday in March, but the 3 men had a blast, especially Lance who took pictures with almost every Disney princess he could find. Worker or not. Throughout the day the 3 discussed film, life and of course, Dragon Ball. More people where supposed to show up, but due to work or other obligations they couldn't join the trio for fun. Danny's girlfriend as well as Quamann were busy with work, but sent their best wishes. Blackentfist just didn't want to spend the money to fly to Florida and then Australia so he would just meet them at the convention. Mike from Laughingstock Media was sick with the flu so he decided to stay home. As for Rhymestyle, he never got back to any of them.
Danny was scrolling through his phone looking again at the con schedule. “You know, I really can't wait to see all these awesome seiyuu. I still can't believe were getting Horikawa, Nakao AND Nozawa at the same event.”
Zeon peeked over at Danny's phone.“Yeah, this is a once in a lifetime thing. It's such a huge Dragon Ball celebration, it's kind of unprecedented. I don't think there's ever been a convention this large for any anime”
Lance chipped in “Apart from Star Wars, I can't think of any franchise that has ever had a single convention dedicated to it that was this massive. It's gonna be great!”.
But to them, apart from meeting all their Youtube brethen, the most exhilarating event that their were looking forward to was the most unexpected one of all. The news was very last minute and it was the only reason the 3 decided to fly to DB-Con. Toriyama-sensei himself would make an appearance and hold a Q and A panel.
