Toriyama & Future Trunks (Storylines)

From Mirai's Wikipedia article:

When asked by DBZ fans "What happened to Babidi and Buu in Trunks timeline?" Akira Toriyama clearly commented "I didn't think that far ahead of the series. I didn't even know if the series would have gone on. The Cell Games was supposed to be the last saga, but the fans wanted more, so i just went on with it. If I had known that the series would have continued, I would have just kept him in the present timeline, since 3/4 of the worlds population was annihilated in his timeline."

Does anyone have a source for this quote? I couldn't find one anywhere on the Net...

And I wonder how Buu would have unfolded (how Toriyama would have written it, that is) if Mirai couldn't/didn't return to his time.

It sounds more like fandom run amock; with people making assumptions, being misinterpreted, and a new rumor is born. Although I'm forced to admit that I really like the idea of future Trunks sticking around for the Boo saga.

I would love having Mirai Trunks in the story until Present Trunks was fully grown, then it'd just be way too weird.

I always thought it would be cool if he "coincidentally" visited everyone (like he did after beating his worlds Artificial Humans) about the time Gohan was spreading the news of the 25th Tenka'ichi Budokai.

Oh well. Great Fanfiction idea's, but will never happen.

Yep, when the Trunks from the last Budôkai (ten years after Boo's defeat) is the same age as future Trunks.
I think it's just because Bobbidi couldn't get any good energy on Earth.

That still wouldn't make any sense though. Even assuming that Babidi decides that there isn't enough humans left on Earth to slaughter to ressurect Majin Boo, that wouldn't stop him from doing it anyways. And more likely than not, he would've come across jinzôningen #17 and #18 and killed them.

Unless...in a untold chapter Babidi comes to Earth and ressurects Majin Boo, only to be destroyed by Hildegarn being released simotaniously. Trunks arrives on the scene with no idea of what just happened, picks up Tapion's sword...*brain explodes*

There are several possibilites that could work. There's the previously mentioned idea that Babidi took Buu elsewhere to revive him where he could find enough energy. There's the possibility that the Androids' rampaging already released Buu but without sufficient strength to even pull himself together.

And then there's the one I think is most viable, Babidi landed and set about to try and retrieve/ressurect Buu and ran into 17 and 18. Dabura, unable to sense them, wouldn't have even given them a second thought. And then they'd have blasted Babidi into oblivion. Dabura, free from the Majin control, would have left for his own realm.

My guess is that because the destruction caused by the androids was the original timeline until Trunks came from the future to change it, Trunks saved the world from one menace, allowing it to be attacked by another.

It relates back to the never ending paradox that is time travel. One small change in the past can cause drastic differences. The original time line could have been that (remember the is just a hypothetical guess) Bibidi never had a son, and Buu remained trapped in that ball for all eternity, never attacking earth.

There are so many possibilities that it is impossible to come up with a real answer, the truth is that Babidi and Buu did not exist in Trunks' timeline because Toriyama hadn't created them yet.

EDIT:SORRY if this would be considered a "Necropost" I didn't even realize the date until after I posted it. It's about a week and half old, so it's hard to really tell.

Nah, I think the (un)offical 'rule of thumb' is 2 weeks before it becomes a necropost.

Anyway, your altered time-line is non-viable even by the real world temporal phsyics (such as they are knonw, anyway). Namely, you can't change the past in the present. So even Trunks going back 20 years wouldn't have changed something like Babidi's existance (as he was born tens of thouands of years ago).
