Has Dragon Ball inspired you to be an artist?
Basically what the title says, has Dragon Ball inspired you to learn how/venture into being an artist? It inspired me since I first laid eyes on the show years ago, but still character portraits are about as good as it gets for me (which are still horrible). My problem is I have these character designs in my head and It's almost like when I focus on trying to draw them, especially the lines, It goes a mess. It's like details of the image in my head become very blurry, but I can draw the pose the character is standing, just not the fine details such as placement of the eyes, details of hair, clothes etc. I cannot draw the manga or anime style to save my life, but what's really weird is that I am somewhat decent at drawing real-life style things such as cars, houses, swords, mountains, real-life looking people etc. I don't even have to think about those things to put them on paper, but the manga style of Dragon Ball I find myself of focusing on the image in my head which never pans out for some reason. Have any of you been inspired to take up being an artist by Dragon Ball that might have even lead you to a life career? Did/do you have the same problems I have and if you did how did you overcome them?

DragonBall & Pokemon (Lugia, Ho Oh, Moltres, Articuno & Charizard in particular) inspired me to be a professional artist
DragonBall, specifically from the awesomatic scene of Future Trunks hacking Mecha Frieza in half with close-up shot of his SSJ face was what sparked the fire in me.
Not only that, I like how DB has this great emphasize on anatomical proportions of characters. Not disgustingly Hulky (like some Bleach characters) or ridiculously anorexic (again like some Bleach & OP characters like Ichigo, Luffy, Ishida etc)
It has right body & face balance, which appeals visually. I still have over 500+ DBZ drawings which I would start drawing the next second each DBZ Episode ends. Good times~

I've been drawing long before I started watching DB, but it did inspire me (as other series have also) to improve and continue to improve my drawing skills. So much of it is practice. Some people have a natural talent for drawing--I don't. I certainly don't. It's taken me a long time to even get to the point I'm at now and I've still got room for improvement. One of the best things about drawing, imo, is there's always more to improve on. It gives you something to look forward to with your art knowing all your drawings now build upon your skills and lead to even higher skilled drawings in the future. Drawing is kinda like DB in a way; you keep training, you get stronger. Something like that.
Additional thoughts:
-References are valuable tools, especially when you're drawing a pose or action you haven't drawn much. Not copying line-for-line though. You learn more from it if you make it your own, imo.
-Drawing the body's frame (the outline/bare-bones) before really getting deep into a drawing will help align proportions better.
-Don't mind erasing and starting from scratch if you're not satisfied yet with a drawing; 2nd and 3rd drafts may end up closer to where you want the art to be.

I don't have much artistic talent, but I remember trying to imitate Toriyama's art-style whenever I would draw. There's something about the Super Saiyan face that fascinates me, most specifically the eye.
There was one moment where I painted Super Saiyan hair and a face on a pumpkin in high school.

DRAGON BALL IS THE KING OF (Fighting) ANIME!!!!!!! In my opinion, at least...
My reaction to anything about Dragon Ball post-2013 that I don't like and/or is stupid.

Yes. Yes it has. I owe Dragon Ball a lot. Especially with my animation timing.

Oh, yes, it has!
I started doing cosplay back in 2004. I barely knew how to sew back then. My mom and I made a great team! I started with the easiest Dragon Ball Z costumes (Android #18, some Bulma outfits), then I moved to more complex designs and other series. Now I'm finishing Costume Design in University, and I work making costumes by commision, thanks to my love for Dragon Ball.

I am not an english speaker and I'm self-taught. Please excuse my awful grammar, I'm doing my best to improve.

It has inspired me to be a better artist, but not the reason I became an artist, if that makes sense. What inspired me to become an artist was my dad, since he's a painter and I've always looked up to him. Seeing Toriyama's illustrations and the way he draws fight scenes did inspire me to do even better with my own work.
