DBZ In Africa; rare Manadarin dub subbed in english airing?!

WEDNESDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2015
The major Pay-TV operator in Sub-Saharan Africa StarTimes, acquired the TV rights for Dragon Ball (153 x 26’) and Dragon Ball Z (291 x 26’).

The series will be broadcast in all the English-speaking African countries.
Edit, found a video for Dragon Ball on their Youtube channel and their facebook channel (I don't like how it's stretched to 16:9, God forbid it's that in the TV broadcast):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM-V0NNaLno
https://www.facebook.com/STkungfu/video ... 823645389/

Airing times:
http://www.startimes.com.ng/tv-guide/
Scroll down to their kung-fu channel or search for "Dragon Ball". it's been aired 08:30 and 16:30.

Edit:
I can't say for sure in what language this is, but Puto had the theory it's in Afrikaans. And the "let's go!" sub makes me think it's an Afrikaans dub with english subtitles.

Edit 2:
i got a kind of answer from Startimes via facebook:

Me:
I just rewatched the trailer, and unless my ears fooled me, i heard Goku say 'jah' that is for 'yes' in South Africa? This would imply it's a new dub émoticône smile?
If that's the case, I'd be very interested in watching your channel. But since I'm located in Norway, it would have to be online.
Or is this in Afrikaans?

Them: Thank you for contacting Startimes Kenya.

This is startimes Kenya.Yes it is Aftrica.

Warm Regards.

It looked subbed because of the subtitle "Let's go"
"You think you can defeat me? Using the power of those MOSQUITOS?! I am the legendary WARRIOR!" - Broly (Big Green Dub)

I don't know what that was about, but have a listen again to the whole trailer. Plus read Toei's newspost.

It'd be interesting if this truly is another English dub of the series

Doesn't sound like English. Probably Afrikaans with English subtitles or something like that.

You know, its interesting when each language give their respective takes on the series as Mandarin, Korean, Cantonese, Hindi now Afrikaans dub

When you try hard to attempt something beyond your grasp DESPITE being painfully incompetent at it, you get Malaysian Speedy Dub. Where its neither Malay Dub (mother tongue language) or English Dub either

Either way, happy that DBZ is still in the limelight

The official site says the channel is managed by a Chinese company, so I checked through my collection and unfortunately, it turned out that it's not an Afrikaans dub. It's actually a rare Mandarin dub produced in mainland China, which is different than the Taiwanese Mandarin dub easily accessible on the Internet. Only the first 52 episodes of the mainland Chinese dub got a home video release on VCD in 1997, so it would be still a significant find if you could obtain TV rips of the unreleased episodes.

Of course I've got a copy 8) and here's a clip used in the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHLnIHMhrj4

What? Are you saying they're airing a Mandarian dub subbed in english...? Did they dub all of DB and DBZ?

I don't think we should judge what video looks like from a youtube/facebook trailer.

A Mandarin dub subbed in Engish airing in Africa... Represents today's global power shift, doesn't it?

They dubbed only the original DB. Only the Taiwanese Mandarin dubs exist for Z.

Hah, yeah, but you're positive this is the Mandarin dub you own a vcd of? What makes me unsure, is the "Jah" in the trailer there. Of course this could be a Mandarin sound but it could also be the Afrikaans for "Yes."...

Okay, but if they only dubbed original DB, then they'll have to use another dub for DBZ. Because they bought TV rights for all DBZ, too.

It's just part of a Mandarin sentence.

Ah, that's too bad. However, it will be interesting to see what they do about DBZ.

Will Dragon Ball be dubbed in English? If its their own dub I could be interested because we've already have Funimation's (Saga Sets & Blue/Yellow/Banana Bricks), Ocean Dub's (Saga of Goku) and Blue Water's (no home release only TV).

It's most likely either a chinese, rare mainland dub, or an Afrikaans dub...

I find this whole situation interesting. Mandarin with english subs?
If only we had someone in that area who can give us more detailed information on how it is being broadcast? What are the english subs like? Is Mandarin the only spoken language for the program, or does it have secondary audio programs? If so, what languages?

That box art sure is, uh...something. They declined to use official Toei art for some reason?

That is strange. Why not air it in the original language or dubbed into English? :?
