Goku/Gohan going back in the ROSAT before cell games

Does anybody think that if goku and gohan decided to go back in the time chamber for another year/day they would have somehow learned SSJ2? Or would the power increase of been minuscule and would have just strained their body?

Goku outright indicated that he felt that there wasn't much more he felt he could do, and that spending another year in there would be essentially unnecessary.

It would've been pointless. Goku said both he and Gohan have reached their limit in the rosat, so another yr there would've been pointless.

As the posters before me have stated, Goku hit a wall in his development and any additional training using their current methods would prove miniscule. Think of it as if you're grinding in a low-level area in a RPG. His solution was to rely on Gohan's anger boost to overpower Cell. I feel had Goku had a simpler way to witness Super Saiyan 2 power before the Cell Games started, he'd be able to figure it out for himself within a second trip to the RoSaT. Afterall, Saiyans have a knack for learning by seeing. Even if he couldn't, seeing as we don't know how long it took him to unlock Super Saiyan 2 on his own, Gohan at the least would be able to control his own power easier with additional practice.
