More Lunch cameos noticed

Post by Sun_Wukong » Tue Mar 30, 2004 5:50 pm

1) DBZ episode #11 "The Saiya-jiin, Greatest Warriors in the Universe, Awake".
It basically shows her being chased by the cops for robbing a bank. She then states that she's on her way to meet Tenshinhan.

2)DBZ episode #12 "Napping on the Path of the Snake, Goku falls Off"
Lunch calls Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu in from training for a meal. Lunch tries to convince Ten to become a theif with her. Ten refuses and walks out. Chaiotzu continues eating and Lunch shoots at him out the door.

Part 2- During an earthquake that Piccolo causes, Tenshinhan saves Lunch from being destroyed by a flowing waterfall. He powers up and creates a burst of energy. Bulma then locates him on her scouter.

I've only seen the cameos about her getting drunk being mentioned. I dont know if anyone else noticed these

Well if you've seen the original uncut DBZ, then these incidences are kind of hard to miss. The majority of them take place in one entire episode. Actually, there's also another scene in the next episode where she tries to follow Tenshinhan to Kami's palace but can't climb up the pillar so she rummages around in a teepee looking for a plane capsule. And who's teepee is it, but none other than Bora's who she tries to attack when he confronts her. Then a teenage Upa appears too to try and help but then Lunch's nose brushes against one of Bora's rope armlets and she sneezes and stands there looking very confused and embarassed. 8)

All so different from Toriyama's explanation concerning the absence of Lunch. Methinks he just forgot she existed. Because they kept training, Tenshinhan+Chaozu would tend to move around a lot to find better places. Not knowing this, Lunch was supposed to be lost in the mountains looking for them without ever finding them. The only panel to contain Lunch after the 23rd budoukai was edited so that contained #17 instead (giving HIS ki to the Genkidama instead of Lunch giving hers). Gyaha!

I bet Toriyama started to draw Lunch and forgot how to, so he just did #17 instead.

Actually he drew her perfectly. It was finished panel but he erased her and drew in #17 instead. According to the daizenshuu he didn't even change what she was saying. :P

Oh no, I know he drew her fine, I was just joking. Wasn't it because he figured it had been so long since he had put her in that readers wouldn't know who she was anymore?

Not sure. I don't have the daizenshuu w/me to check. Afterall, he did leave in #8 and Upa+Bora, who weren't seen ever again since the end of the Red Ribbon saga. You can argue Bora+Upa had cameos in the anime, but only because they were in one of Lunch's cameo. I know he wanted to have #17 and forgot to put him in somewhere, so maybe he changed that panel since Lunch's was the only one with just one person in it.

I just posted em because it seems like no one ever mentions them. Oh, and I dont know if posting about fansubs is a no no but, I've recently been following Anime-HQ's release of DBZ, remastered, uncut, and subbed ^_^

Hm.. I remember reading scanslations a long while ago.. Wasn't Lunch/Juunanagou's dialgoue "That voice.. I recognize it" or something like that... Of course, if I'm wrong, I blame it on shitty translations and memory.

Also, in the anime, didn't Lunch get her own ki-giving shot while 17 was holding up some guys and forcing them to raise their hands?

Oh, Wu-kun, Lunch also appeared in the Freeza saga, when Goku was delirious and seeing his friends laughing with Freeza's voice (their own voice in the dub, though Lunch was strangely silentt). I think she also appeared in one of the flashbacks.

Yes, she was given a shot in the anime. She's shown getting out of a big truck in an intersection. I guess she'd been working as a trucker, who knew? :)

Sun_Wukong: We don't have a problem with talking about fansubs here, as long as they are ones for anime that have not yet been licensed in North America. We don't like Anime HQ, especially EX.

They were in the Piccolo Daimaou saga.

Ah well, at least it was finally relealed that #17 was still alive. We hadn't seen him since he was absorbed.

Well, he was almost definitely killed with Cell, right? Hell, he was probably killed when Cell blew up. But he was probably revived when they made the wish to revive those killed by Celly-booya.

Yes. Because DBZ is already available uncut, subbed, and remastered (sort of).

But the rest is practically all ready as we speak anyway.

That's what I meant. Anime-HQ having DBZ uncut and subbed isn't really the most impressive of feats when we already have it uncut and subbed.

What pisses me off to no end is their absolute KILLING of the market for seasons 1, 2, and the Cell Games. They've even got dual-fucking-audio on the Cell games.

Dude, Veggie-man (I'm sorry, but I like naming people I like), you sound like me when watching dub anime. Or when my dad's on a bitch session and my sanity's cracking.

EDIT: Though I do agree with you. It's annoying as fuck when people try stuff like that.

Wait, "dual audio"? If the original Japanese is one of the audio tracks, what's the other?
