When everyone on Goku's team realized Vegeta was a bitch

So when Vegeta came to Earth he left a strong impression of being totally badass/dominant. He not only indirectly killed nearly all of the Z-senshi but it took a combination attack from Goku, Krillin, Gohan and Yajirobe to push him back. Needless to say everyone feared him,respected him and thought he was strong.

Fast forward to Namek. The first crack at the image of this "most powerful warrior in the universe" Vegeta was fronting came when Zarbon let it slip out in front of Krillin, Bulma that he kicked Vegeta's ass 5 hours ago.



At this point they may been thinking this was all shit talking and not paying too much heed to it, so overall his reputation was maintain and he was still looked at as a very powerful warrior.



Then the Ginyu force came and Recoome totally thrashed Vegeta in front of everyone. The confidence Gohan and Krillin had in thinking he was just (if not better) than Goku and could pull out a win against impossible odds came plummeting. They realize that Vegeta isn't one of the top dogs he made himself out to be and he is kind of a bitch.




Fast forward to Freeza and they see Vegeta cower and try to flee from Freeza, and even witness him crying like a little bitch before getting killed. Needless to say Vegeta's reputation of being as good as Goku went to shit after that and he was looked at as a Goku lite if not more so a punching bag for villains. I'm pretty certain behind his back Krillin, Tien and Yamcha make fun of him.




His reputation only got thrashed even worse throughout the series as he got hammed in by Android 18 in front of everyone then Cell. Even in the Buu saga when he regain back some credibility by beating Goku, he ended up failing to beat the big boss of that season with a suicide attack.





At this point Z-senshi can always expect Vegeta to fail and their confidence in him turning the tide of battle and coming out with a win went to 0. I think everyone in Z-senshi just thinks vegeta is a good staller until Goku gets here now.



So as we see vegeta went from being considered by them as a great warrior who they were confident was like goku and could beat powerful foes by pulling out a win from his ass to being a staller whose only purpose was to hold off the villain long enough for Goku to get to the battlefield.

Let say there is a new powerful guy X and goku was out of commission or away. Everyone of the Z-senshi will be hesitant to go into battle without Goku even if vegeta was there. Why ? Vegeta has a terrible track record of beating foes and gets defeated very badly.

So everyone would basically say hold up for Goku because they have confidence in him as a fighter. They don't for vegeta. They use to when they first met him but not anymore.

Is this a real question? The only people who would have anything close to a positive opinion on Vegeta would be Goku, Bulma, Trunks, maybe Bulma's parents, and maybe Gohan. Everyone else (correctly)finds him an asshole or are perhaps neutral(I don't think Buu has a real opinion).

I've made this point on here before. Goku's sins regarding allowances for his opponents are exactly the same as Vegeta's -- perhaps even more problematic, as the only time I can really think of Vegeta allowing an opponent to get the upper hand was during his fight against Cell.

It's just that the moral universe of Dragon Ball supports Goku because his motives are pure--he wants to test and better himself, while Vegeta's are not, at least until the Boo arc--he wants to be the best at any cost. On a plot level, though, Goku makes all the same mistakes as Vegeta, more frequently, but is constantly rewarded for them in the long run.

That's not true. They likely held a higher opinion of Goku, it doesn't mean they'll wait for him if Vegeta's there.

I mean respect in the context of this thread. They don't need to like him. They can respect his strength and fighting credentials to trust him to lead them and protect them.
Even then, did anybody displayed any dislike for him recently? After the Boo Arc he become a good guy. The Battle of God events make me think everyone likes him, since he swallowed his pride to try and save them. They cheered for him at the recent tournament.
Maybe there's some exceptions like Tenshinhan, Jaco (although he's an alien) but for the most part they like him.
