The Dark Transitional Shift

Post by DragonBalllKaiHD » Sun Jun 05, 2016 1:11 pm

The topics surrounding the tonal shift of Episode #46 at the end got a lot of attention last night. We see the scene changes from Goku and Vegeta discussing pacifier to the apocalyptic scene involving Trunks running away. The background music also immediately changed. I personally loved how they slapped the phrase on the Trunks shot at the end of the episode to show how truly the tone has shifted. Much more so than the Piccolo Daimao arc where Kuririn got killed. What is your feeling on these immediate changes?

I love them because how impactful they can be.
Now imagine if no one knew about what the next arc would be, and just saw it like that.

This week will be the longest wait for most people so far.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Caught my attention enough to actually want to watch the next episode of Super, something unfathomable.

I actually think this could be one of my most favourite sagas if done right.

Sometimes I wonder about this fanbase and why fans have such a hard on for a "dark" plot so it can feel like Zeh. Why does Super need a "dark" plot to be like Z why can't Super be its own thing. :(
Purple Cum Monster Vegeta arc

Dragon Ball peaked in popularity with Piccolo, Saiyan/Freeza and Android/Cell sagas. That's all there needs to be said really. All the "dark emo" jokes won't change that, neither will injecting even more toilet humor and turning the show into self-parody.

When your sequel to z your gonna have people who wants something dark like the cell saga plus super has massively disappointing/been too light hearted lately and literally no sense of danger this could be great depending on a lot of factors

To quote TFS Nail:
Am I the only one who just noticed a huge tone shift here?
I'm looking forward to a serious arc. I'm fully able to enjoy the light-hearted stuff, but it's time to go darker, at least for a while. It's the kind of arc Dragon Ball is known for (from King Piccolo to Cell, the series was pretty serious overall), and why I heard of it in the first place, so...
This week is gonna be one long and exciting wait.

Super has been recycling a lot of the same jokes and relying on callbacks/references to the old series along with retelling existing movies before we got a short tournament arc. There should be no surprise why a lot of fans are excited for the show to go back to a tone that was prevalent throughout a good chunk of Toriyama's manga.

Well in preview for the next episode we see Goku and Piccolo doing some gardening in humorous way. I'd imagine this arc will be serous , but still have humor.

Finally Super is getting dark. All we need now is Bulma being raped and decapitated to add more tension

I'm don't want a darker tone. I want more barbecues, poop jokes, quirky embarrassing moments for Vegeta, and enough food jokes that'll make Beerus cum all over the table after he orgasms from more tasty food. I won't be satisfied til everyone is jolly dammit.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Maybe that's how Black came to be.

Now I'm entirely fine with the "light-hearted" stuff Super has done. But it's nice to have some sort of balance between the two. I think most people can agree on that.
