The revival wish after beating Cell

Post by Thanos6 » Sat May 13, 2006 4:42 pm

"Revive all those killed by Cell..."

Good wish, but it seems they forgot a lot of people...

*Everyone killed by #19 and Dr. Gero
*The truck driver who runs right into the back of Vegeta when he's fighting #18

Couldn't they have said "Everyone killed since May 12th except Dr. Gero, Cell, the Cell Juniors, and #19?"
Trunks & Goten forever

Maybe they didn't want to be greedy! I'm sure bringing back the dead is a lot of work for Shenlong.

Well, I guess the most ligical thing would be that Toriyama forgot those people. It wouldn't be the first time. The same stuff happened in some of the movies, too (I forget which ones).

...That's harsh, man. Android 16 played with the little birds instead of killing... he is Z's variation of Android 8... They both have souls and they are alive in their own special way... Shenlong just had a brain fart and forgot.

:? No, #16 was purely mechanical, and thus had no soul, which is why we never see him again in heaven, hell, or alive. #8 had a soul, atleast in The Path to Ultimate Strength, in which he was wished back to life, which is only possible of those who have souls, meaning #8 was a human being at one point, unlike #16.
I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

Well... I was being somewhat sarcastic in 16's defense, since he's such a nice character, but since you want to get all technical... I doubt that Android 8 was perviously human in either the series or Path to Ultimate Strength... in the latter, when he was blown to bits, there were no signs of any organic insides.
It is somewhat difficult to tell, though. In the confines of the series, I believe that both 8 and 16 were meant to represent the 'soul-less and longing' cliche, and by the end of their story they had medaphorically achieved a soul. You can't listen to 16 try to reassure Gohan and say that there's nothin in that big tin-man's heart.
But I think the real reason #16 wasn't brought back was just because it would have lessened the emotional impact of his sacrifice for Gohan.

The people killed by Vegeta and Nappa when they arrived on Earth were never wished back either.

Well, they didn't know that Raditz had killed someone. Even though his body would be near the battle area. Hm, would be kinda funny... "Oh look guys! This farmer was killed! Let's gather the dragonballs!!"

I just got this picture in my head of Shenlong like '...one farmer? Come on, guys. I was okay with this when the pig was askin for panties... but I think you guys just miss me sometimes'

Yeah, I'm thinking the Z gang only wants to us the DragonBalls to wish back multiple people (at least in the later sagas). No one's gonna miss one farmer...

My other excuse besides the one in my previous post is that everyone was just so caught up in Goku's death that they didn't have the brainpower to think of the wording of their wish. I mean, Yamcha even wanted to wish for some money at one time...

I always thought that since Vegeta and Nappa hadn't openly rebelled against Freeza until they actually fought the heroes, East City might count...

Thinking in Freeza, the namekians killed by Vegeta stayed dead didn't they?

Well no, they were still rebelling. Vegeta took it upon himself to go with Nappa to Earth without informing Freeza to get the dragonballs for himself.
DB_Fan wrote:Thinking in Freeza, the namekians killed by Vegeta stayed dead didn't they?
Yes. Since the wish was for everyone killed by Freeza and his henchmen, the ones from the village Vegeta attacked weren't revived since Vegeta wasn't working for Freeza by then.

Artificial Human #8 wasn't "wished back to life" techinically so much as it was worded... "Make him the way he was before" which can be looked at as something different...

I think the case of the wish mentioned in the initial post is that Toriyama-sama kinda forgot about things..and he was hoping to end Dragonball anyway.

True. Goku basically wished for Shenlong to repair him.

#16 doesn't have a soul, though. He's a robot.

Well, I hate to bring GT logic into the conversation...

But, android 19 was on earth when the hole to hell was opened.

And he was a full robot too.

Therefore he must have had a soul of some sort. Or at least some kind of "robo-soul".

But it is GT...
There is no better combination in the world than Dragonball, Cherry Pepsi, and Cheez-Its. It's a proven fact.
