How's DB: Advance Adventure?
I don't think there are nearly enough Pre-Z Dragonball games out there anymore... So I was pretty happy to hear about a Dragonball GBA game comin our way. But I had a few traumatic flash backs to DBGT:Transformation when I heard it was a side-scrolling action game.
Seein as how I left my emulator days behind many years ago, I don't have a method for tryin this game out to see how it is. Most reviews I've read said it was good but too short.
So my purpose for the thread is to ask my favorite forum-goers if this game is worth picking up!

I just got it and am having fun it's a solid retro game ( the copyright at the start makes me think it's a re-release.) What's super nice is the fact there's limited voice with the main characters ( general hrgg haaaa Kinto-uuuun etc).
There's also a limited 2 player fight mode if your friend has a cart.

It's not only a side- scrolling adventure; it has a beat- em up aspect to it too (fight in the tournament). You get to fight Krillin and Master Roshi, and some other secret characters. I highly recommend it, 'cause it's the best Dragonball game on the GBA to date!
You can jump off walls, and do some Matrix- style moves. Cooool.

Speaking of bullets, you can deflect them with Goku in the game. If you press B+UP , he spins his red pole and hits them back. You can also launch yourself up into the air with it (you have to acquire the skill first).Pedro The Hutt wrote:No, no. You mean that the Matrix does some Dragonball style moves. (Chaozu stopped bullets with his mind 15 years before Neo did so. >.>;; )
If that isn't enough, you can fly 'n' fight on the Nimbus cloud. Cooooooooler.
I'm not sure what happens when you collect all of the dragonballs, though. It's so tricky to catch 'em all.

Aquire skills? As in 'Oh, you've reached this part of the game and we give you this skill' or RPG-style 'You've reached this level of power and got this ability!'Steven Perry wrote: Speaking of bullets, you can deflect them with Goku in the game. Regardless, so far this game sounds awesome and I definetly intend to pick it up when it comes out.

The first one. I think. Anyway, it's a superb game. It takes a bit of gettin' used to, though; you have to learn how to combine hand- to- hand combat with energy blasts 'n' stuff.MisterFlashdude wrote:Acquire skills? It's so fun using your tail to fly in the tournament arena... Tien was like "where the hell did he go?" And I was like, "eat Kamehameha baldy!"

Yeah but... Superman didn't so much stop the bullets as he just stood there and wasn't killed.Brad Redfield wrote:And Superman stopped bullets years before Akira Toriyama was even born.Pedro The Hutt wrote:(Chaozu stopped bullets with his mind 15 years before Neo did so. >.>;; )![]()
The game was pretty good though. The best part IMO was the One on One battle scenes. That stuff was great.
Chaozu and Neo could actually stop the bullets before they were hit by them. Subtle difference in skill.

It'll be kinda odd having ChiChi show up at 23rd Tournament, then, since she was left out of DB:AA.Brad Redfield wrote:Details, details. The outcome is the same. At least Supes is man enough to let the bullets hit 'I'm.![]()
I wonder if they would make a sequel to this that goes through Piccolo Jr. all the way to Buu. That'd be pretty cool.

But it's not the outcome that's important in this case, it's the execution. Chaozu stopped bullets with his MIND, before Neo. Superman never stopped bullets with his MIND.Brad Redfield wrote:Details, details. The outcome is the same. At least Supes is man enough to let the bullets hit 'I'm.![]()

As for a sequel, I personally never liked the idea of beating up a bunch of faceless henchmen in the DBZ universe. It works great for DragonBall, but they never (well, rarely) did that in Z. Unless they made the game as a side-story.

*Tries to get back on topic*
I only beat the game with Goku. Is it worth re-playing the game with different characters?

Can you actually play through the game again with most of the characters? I've only been able to do it with Krillin. I've heard rumour, so is it true?
Vegeta: This doesn't concern you! This is between me and your circus clown of a father!
Goku: Circus clown. That's a new one.

You need to play it on Extra to get Dragonballs and Character Pictures which after you get all the dragonballs, you can play the characters you got, you can even play as Pilaf robot!
