gods knows this maybe he will be arrested like Ace in One Piece after the Trunks arc?? Who knows but it is possible
Dragonball Super reminds me a little bit of One Piece
Dragonball Super reminds me a little bit of One Piece
Things like 12 gods and Ominking reminds me a little bit like One Piece with the 7 warlords + Admirals but in a another way..Like Whis said to Future Trunks he breaks the rules and when Zeno or the other
gods knows this maybe he will be arrested like Ace in One Piece after the Trunks arc?? Who knows but it is possible
That's the reason why it reminds me of One Piece

Whether it's captains in bleach or admirals in one piece the "big boss characters" have been a trope in anime for a long time. Besides that and Goku's process of slowly becoming a retard, the two couldn't be farther apart.

^ +1. You find this all over shonen anime.
The only thing similar about the two shows is that almost all shonen anime post-DBZ has ripped off DB/DBZ characters Goku = Gon = Naruto = Luffy = Yugi. Vegeta = Sasuke = Killua/Kurapika = Zoro = Kaiba. Bulma = Nami = Sakura = Tea.
The other thing is the shitty digitally coloured Toei art for the last 10 years

Zoro=Piccolo.
I learned english listening to songs. So I don't know anything about. The day you had to learn play piano by just listening .mp3, you'll understand.
Re: Dragonball Super reminds me a little bit of One Piece
I do agree that the overall feel and tone is a lot like One Piece but that's all shonen show's now a days. They are a lot less brutal then they used to be when DBZ was airing. All Shonen manga's usually have some "big boss" type of gang or guy to establish a target, whether it be to kill that target or to surpass it. If there was no Yonko, Beerus, or big bady then there would be no reason or goal to fight or to surpass. Imagine what Goku would do if there was nothing to do other than fight in weak human tournaments with no challenge to him or Luffy without Gold Roger and the World Government ever existing. There's always a obstacle that the characters have to pass in order to reach a certain goal I suppose. Goku's goal has always been to be the strongest while Luffy's was Pirate King and if there was no obstacle, anyone could obtain these titles which would make it less fun or pointless to be honest. In other words a typical shonen like the posts above me said.

Meh. Not really. It terms of lightheartedness and general whimsical nature, I'd certainly say that Super and One Piece share some similarities. But in terms of fleshing out characters, consistent narrative, world building and just a generally well structured plot, One Piece is by far superior. But that's solely down to the fact that One Piece is being written by a man who truly loves his job as a mangaka and genuinely cares for the quality of the story he tells.

Yeah but that's only three episodes not overall overall one piece beats super by light years.Lujin_16 wrote:The last 3 episodes of Dragonball Super has had great storytelling in my opinionLord Beerus wrote:Meh. I like how were compering a series that has been going on for just almost a year and has 49 episodes out currently to a series that been going on for almost 20 years and has 831 chapters.

We bring that up but didn't Dragon Ball do it first with the R.R. Arc?saiyanvegetable wrote:Whether it's captains in bleach or admirals in one piece the "big boss characters" have been a trope in anime for a long time. Everything from the writing, the storytelling and humor, even the newer character designs seem very un Toriyama ish to me.
Botamo likes like he was lifted straight from one piece and makes me wonder if Toriyama even designed him.

I Agree it isn't Very Toriyama-ish but he wasn't ripped off from One Piece unless it was one of the zombies in thriller bark. Could have been on Zou too, I'm caught up on the manga but don't really pay attention to the public un-important characters in One Piece.TheMikado wrote:Everything from the writing, the storytelling and humor, even the newer character designs seem very un Toriyama ish to me.

How so? Super has barely any plot. One Piece is an adventure anime, Super is not adventure. It's a mix of battle and slice of life
Toyotarō: … I get the feeling I’ve just heard something amazing (laughs). Lord Beerus and Whis turn up in Dragon Ball Super, and have become an unsurpassable wall for Goku and the gang. What do the two of them mean to you?
Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.

Yeah if Super was more like One Piece there would be way more characters

That's because he isn't the same person he was 20+ years ago.TheMikado wrote:Everything from the writing, the storytelling and humor, even the newer character designs seem very un Toriyama ish to me.
Based on RF & the Champa arc, it seems like he's only interested in a paycheck so he's putting in the least amount of work into his stories and characters (unlike before) which is a shame cause the BOG movie did a really good job at bringing the franchise into the modern era.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

If that were case he wouldn't be openly complaining about Super and almost quitting the show altogether with how the Toei were handling Super. He's very much clearly interested in telling more stories or at least more providing baseline ideas for potential stories.sintzu wrote:That's because he isn't the same person he was 20+ years ago.TheMikado wrote:Everything from the writing, the storytelling and humor, even the newer character designs seem very un Toriyama ish to me.
