Would Cell and Freeza really be friends in Hell?
Would Cell and Freeza really be friends in Hell?
Freeza and Cell meeting in Hell during the Buu arc was filler but had Toriyama written it do you think they would get along?
Cell is technically a clone of Freeza more or less, and Cell would have respected where he came from since he knew he had Freeza's cells in him. Likewise would Freeza get along with Cell, similar to how the episodes portrayed them?

Freeza would probably hate Cell for being stronger than him, at least until he decided to do push ups for a few hours and become invincible.

Cell would get sick of Freeza's whining and rudeness after a few minutes and then snap his neck.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

No, I think their relationship would be far deeper than that.

Considering they're both megalomaniacs who want power for themselves, I don't see them getting along.

Considering they would both be clouds, I'd say they would get along pretty well.

They both hate Goku so I don't see why not.

Re: Would Cell and Freeza really be friends in Hell?
Had they kept their bodies like the filler suggested, I think it's plausible for them to get along. Freeza would probably find comfort in the fact that Cell also couldn't defeat Goku and Cell would probably be very casual toward Freeza. They do say that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," so if Goku is both of their enemy, then why not? They could sit around all day playing cards and exchanging stories about how they "almost got 'I'm" (see Batman: The Animated Series).
"My dear friend Cell, did I ever tell you about that time that I had THAT PITIFUL SAIYAN MONKEY PIECE OF LOW-LEVEL TRASH... in a death grip and ripped out his spine and tossed it into the sun only to have his friends come and save him and wish upon the Dragon Balls for him to be fully restored?"
"Ah, my sweet, sweet buddy Freeza, that sounds like the time I ripped off Goku's arms and legs and started beating him over the head with his own limbs until one of his friends sneaked up behind me and distracted me until someone wished for his limbs to grow back."
"Err... My best friend in the whole universe Cell, why, that almost sounds like you got nearly as close as I did once when I ripped his head off and disintegrated his body only to have some Namekian wish for Goku to be restored back to normal."
"Well... my, oh my, my masterful best friend Freeza, that would almost sound like the time that I actually killed Goku and then he somehow sprung back to life..."
"I really hate that Saiyan."
"Ditto."

Why? Cell DID beat Goku. Then deemed Goku so beneath his notice that he had a weak minion beat the shit out of him after Cell himself already defeated him. Then he killed Goku.TheGreatness25 wrote:Had they kept their bodies like the filler suggested, I think it's plausible for them to get along. Re: Would Cell and Freeza really be friends in Hell?
I don't think Freeza is capable of the concept of friendship. A part of me thinks that Freeza would manipulate Cell to not kill him or hurt him out of self-preservation, but then another part of me wonders if a galactic tyrant could keep up the charade of second banana for any reasonable length of time; he's very arrogant. Cell is a different story. He's so much stronger he wouldn't feel intimidated nor do I think he'd see Freeza as a challenge. Cell never really got that second chance that Goku's rivals had; I've always wondered if there was a possibility he could mellow out, and while perhaps not become "good," but maybe not actively trying to destroy the Earth. So in that sense, if Cell is stuck in Hell with nothing to do, he'd be open to making a friend if enough time passed(and if that friend wasn't stronger than himself; Cell is the best Goku clone).
... Now I want to see all images of Goku and Kuririn being best buds redrawn/photoshopped to look like Cell and Freeza; first thing that comes to mind is the brofist page.

They got along quite well in GT, despite bickering briefly. So I'd imagine they'd have a few conversations between themselves about how much they hate Goku, Vegeta and Gohan.
Spoiler:
Re: Would Cell and Freeza really be friends in Hell?
I'd argue that Freeza wouldn't really talk about Gohan since he's the only one of those three that didn't have any fight with him. However, Piccolo on the other hand might get discussed seeing as how he fought Freeza in his second form and Cell in his first. They could brag about besting him with transformations!Lord Beerus wrote:They got along quite well in GT, despite bickering briefly. Re: Would Cell and Freeza really be friends in Hell?
I don't think they would ever get along, the whole idea of them standing around in Hell and being friends for eternity is pretty ridiculous given their personalities but I suppose that's what makes the whole thing so amusing.
Realistically if they were free to roam around in their bodies whilst also retaining their power and abilities (like the anime filler portrays) the whole place would quickly turn into a bloodbath. The slightest disagreement would inevitably lead to fighting as most of them have short fuses and have a tendency to underestimate opponents stronger than themselves.
If they can't kill eachother then I could picture them naturally fighting for supremacy to establish a pecking order. Weaker villains such as Raditz would probably end up being tortured for amusement especially by guys like Freeza who naturally hold a grudge against all Saiyans. If their ability to train and get stronger is also stripped of them then the only way things could change is if a new and stronger villain is sent to Hell to change the pecking order.
I could also imagine alliances being formed out of necessity. Perhaps an egomaniac like Freeza would naturally segregate himself away from stronger guys like Cell in order to maintain his delusion of being the strongest, at least in his territory of Hell.
Anyway, the only way I could see Freeza and Cell coming together and having anything resembling a friendship would be in a situation where they have a common goal. The Pikkon & Goku filler was actually pretty clever since Cell was trying to find a way out and the others would naturally try to aid him in this endeavour. As soon as their plans are foiled they would probably turn on eachother again unless Hell has some sort of punishment system to keep them in line.

Well if Cell has Freeza's Cells that means he could potentially go golden.
