Clever Spiderman reference in DBZ...
If you watch "Gohan Goes To High School" Episode 185 where Videl, Gohan and Videl's friend are talking about the golden figher and all of a suden Sharpner says "...who in the world has heard of a little book nerd secretly being a super hero?"
I found this very interesting. Whethere it was intentional is a different question, interesting nonethelss.
Any thoughts on this matter?

The great Saiyaman saga is a parody of the superhero/sentai genre so of course there's comic book jokes in. There's a strong superman thing runing through DBZ, and I'm pretty sure that's why Gohan has thick black framed glasses in GT that being the classic Clark Kent look.

Well, I doubt that was what Toriyama was going for, but if we're talking about the English localization, then probably. Afterall, they were both highschool students when they became "super heroes".firen wrote:Superman is NOT a nerd. Are you kidding me? Writing for a newspaper does not make you a nerd. It's quite obvious the first person almost anyone thinks of as a nerd disguised as a superhero is Spider-man! But ya, don't mean to make this into a big argument, just sharing my findings, that's all.

Speaking of which:DBZ MAN wrote:I thought it was something like 'supaman' or something. Which was a pisstake on the real superman.
Warning on the back of a can of coffee in Slump World: CAUTION: Coffee will not give you super powers!
What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

Ok for one, Spiderman lost that in the 80s. He ditched the glasses and got really ugly hair. Another, watch Christopher Reeve as Clark, you feel like shouting out "dork!"firen wrote:Superman is NOT a nerd. Are you kidding me? Writing for a newspaper does not make you a nerd. Aaaugh! It's "Spider-Man," people! There's a hyphen! A hyphen, I tell you! Stan Lee gave him a hyphen on purpose! Aaaugh!
