Will Beerus die soon?

Post by Xeztin » Mon Aug 22, 2016 2:08 am

Anyone else think with the recent announcement of Kai's and God of Destruction's being linked that he'll die soon? By die I mean gain a halo not as in we'll never see him again. I'm not sure though because when Whis offered Goku the job he said "When Beerus kicks the bucket" which makes it seem like once he's dead hes dead. They could always revive Beerus but I'm not sure it'd be good because he probably would be "fired" from the job after being killed. I'm liking this Beerus having a weakness though, he seemed way too overpowered without enough consequences to me.

I've said before that it would be one of the few genuinely affecting and shocking deaths the series could feature at this point -- not only because of his enormous power, but because he's received so much focus and development as a character.

I'm not sure we'll actually get to see it, though, nor do I necessarily think we need to. While normally the introduction of a plot point like that would raise suspicion, we already have a "practical" reason for it courtesy of the manga, which mentions that neither the Kaioshin nor God of Destruction are likely to exist in Trunks' Future. If that was its purpose -- simply to address questions about Beerus' reaction to Black in that timeline -- it may not be put toward anything further.

We'll see though! I think it's also lost a bit of the weight it might have, as apparently Kaioshin (and Old Kaioshin?) would die at the same time. Kind of distracting to have a triple-death of allies.

If this was another show I'd say he'd at least be in some kind of danger but they've done things like this before and they didn't go anywhere.

Gohan asking Piccolo to train him.

The Namakian book of legends.

Vegeta visiting U6's Saiyan planet.

These all could've made great plots or plot points but they were thrown out the window for some unknown reason.

Toriyama wasn't sure he wanted to continue after the Champa arc so Toei had to come up with the Trunks arc's idea to get him to so he had no intention on moving forward with it.

Nope, as the source in question can't step forward at the risk of losing their jobs, so take it with a grain of salt.

Kei17's sources based on what I read have been accurate in the past so there's probably some truth to it.

Maybe. But a death which has impact is certainly what Super needs but again it's Super so not expecting much.

More than Beers I think Gowasu has a solid chance of getting killed and I hope if it happens the writers try to put some thought into it and make it impactful unlike Mirai Blooma's death which was done very poorly.

My guess is it was brought up this arc because of Gowasu and U10's Hakaishin and maybe to explain stuff in Trunks's timeline.

But we might see it happen in a future arc.

He should be one of those characters that are affected by the worf effect to accentuate how significantly powerful the antagonist is. That would be great to convey a real sense of danger in the story.

The connection between him and the supreme kai is definitely a huge weakness they wanted the audience to be aware of. I assume it will come into play at some point, either killing Beerus or putting him in extreme danger.

I think Black is the SSG Beerus dreamt of.

It already did come into play for Alternate Beerus. Which is probably enough for them because then the fans cannot ask "why don't they call the gods of that timeline?"

You may very well be right, but it would feel like a bit of a missed opportunity to me if Beerus never once sees or faces Goku Black in any way that we get to see.
