Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
After a lot of bitching, I am finally starting to like this arc. The last episode was pretty great, I really loved the introduction of Daishinkan. Super has disappointed us really bad plenty of times, and now they have a good chance to make things great with the new expanded lore. I don't mind Goku and Vegeta show, just show us more of the new gods and their background.
As long as I get fresh content, I can forgive the shitty animation. But yeah, I am definitely liking Super after a long time. How about you guys?

Toyotarō: … I get the feeling I’ve just heard something amazing (laughs). Lord Beerus and Whis turn up in Dragon Ball Super, and have become an unsurpassable wall for Goku and the gang. What do the two of them mean to you?
Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.

Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
I've liked it from the start. The odd animation at times is my only complaint but all of Super is and will probably forever have bad animation.
Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
Toriyama's plot so far has been very interesting so if it stays this way or gets even better then this could potentially be one of his best.
I'm very disappointed with Toei on the other hand cause Goku in certain episodes and scenes is very unlikable, the pilaf gang are forced into everything & the art and animation at times seem worse than what we got during the U6 arc.

Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
really liking it so far, definitely the best Super has offered yet
I'm sure hoping they can stick the landing and give us a good conclusion to the arc. my only fear right now is it will end abruptly and anti-climatically with some cheese like Goku defeating Black immediately in the future. I really want everyone to get totally bodied by Black, and have more transformations and power ups and junk, like in the good old days.

Dragonball Super's Story is by far the most interesting one in all of Dragonball. It's a shame that Toei's is executing it so poorly.

Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
So far, I do. It's actually the first arc where I don't have any complaints much, besides of Trunks' hair color at first.
No comment on the movie retellings, they were pretty subpar, tough I enjoyed those training episodes in-between and Universe 6 Tournament was underdeveloped and poor on visuals.
I do like Goku Black, Zamasu and Gowasu's design pretty much and I like the new locations we are visiting.

Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
Pacing has been wildly off and will likely sit better upon a rewatch, which I personally won't do until FUNi release the dub (whenever that will be), aside from that and a few more quibbles I have enjoyed it so far, full of mystery and intrigue and the soundtrack as improved a lot, it is definitely better then anything that preceded it in Super. Depending on how this next portion of the arc goes it could pull the arc into as good as Z territory.
Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
Pilaf and his gang are annoying to watch, other than that, it's enjoyable.
Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
Yep. Better than anything else in Super to date IMO.

Yes, I just hope this upcoming fight won't cut it short, and if it does I'd preferably want something unexpected to happen to harken back more to OG Dragon Ball.

Really enjoying it so far, and hopefully it doesn't end too quickly. The Black mystery and Zamasu's fall are both kind of rare to Dragon Ball. Also, given that Goku/Vegeta/Trunks are in the future, and we don't know the status of Whis or New Namek, it's possible that (even if it won't happen) that death really does mean death. Tone is also reminiscent of the Androids/Cell arc for obvious reasons.

Oh yes! That's my complaint! I said that I don't have any, and I do. Pilaf and co. who are mysteriously kids and no one recognizes them...Jaetinh wrote:Pilaf and his gang are annoying to watch, other than that, it's enjoyable.
The biggest plothole in DB anime that ever happened.

Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
Ha, I hope you're right. I don't know if Black will survive fighting Goku/Vegeta, but either way I hope he survives. Would be interesting if the time machine is destroyed and they're all trapped in the future (though given that Black destroyed one time machine already in the present, unlikely it happens again; I'm sure it's already back in its capsule anyhow). If they're unable to make it back to the normal timeline, then Zamasu could wreak havoc (though given that Beerus is still around, and that there was speculation that Black killed gods in the future) with only the B Team around to defend.Lujin_16 wrote:Analytical Delusion wrote:Really enjoying it so far, and hopefully it doesn't end too quickly. Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
no and here's why
1. Pilaf's annoying gang and their antics
2. Lack of interaction between both trunks
3. Future Trunks not having ssj3 (getting his potential unleashed by old kaiou)
4. gohan not even being there for trunks
5. vegeta and trunks not going in the rosat before leaving
6. goku defeating black (as expected) and not vegeta
7. Crappy animation and bad fighting scenes
8. To much episode filler

Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
Sure. It's mysterious, which is a nice change of pace, and it looks like some tension is about to appear now that Goku and Vegeta are coming with Trunks to the future. I do feel like the Pilaf gang should've been completely dropped, though. Future Mai is fine, but the present Pilafs have been ruining episodes for a while now. But my main opinion is yes, I'm enjoying it.

This will ruin the entire arc and possibly Super as a whole for me so hopefully it won't happen.jplaya2023 wrote:

Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
You know it's going to happen. I wanted it to be Vegeta at first too, but FT deserves it more than him and Goku's the main character.sintzu wrote:This will ruin the entire arc and possibly Super as a whole for me so hopefully it won't happen.jplaya2023 wrote:

Disclaimer: I might get into a disagreement with you. Sometimes I might even get feisty about it. I'll never harbor negative feelings because of it though. I hope you feel the same way!Jinzoningen MULE wrote: Maybe I should start making it a point not to comment when I'm not sure of something. Too many people know what they're talking about around here.
I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Re: Are you enjoying the Black Arc so far?
Positives
-I like having a mystery to solve.
-The animation seems like it's on the upswing.
-I'm excited to see Gokû and Vegeta exploring the alternate future with Trunks.
-Future Trunks being surprised at Gohan and 18 was fun.
-I like Gokû Black's design.
-I'm glad the training on Beerus' planet isn't over yet, even if it is on hold.
Negatives
-I'm tired of Pilaf Gang; they feel like a waste of time and resources.
-I'm not enjoying Vegeta in this arc at all, I find myself irritated at him and the only good thing he's done this arc was supporting Future Trunks.
-I'm still disappointed they switched back to the BOG outfits.
-I'm still not a fan of Tomioka and his exposition-heavy episodes.
-Zeno episode was a let down, I wanted to see him and Gokû actually play something.
-Sad Goten has been benched this arc; I wanted Future Trunks to meet him too.
