or they have forget about that

i mean when i see comments like Super is less serious and more comedy it is not like Dragonball Z anymore than my answer is go watch Dragonball and than come
back again.......I know now is less complaining because Super is now serious but if the arc ends and Dragonball Super will be more comedy a little bit than here we go again...

What a load of bollocks, even Z has a good share of truly hilarious moments, the issue is not comedy but how it is handled.

I use to not like dragonball all that much when I was younger but as I got older I began to appreciate it more and I think reading the manga did that more than just watching it. It is very different from Z/GT/Super but that is what makes it great. The fact that it all fit so perfectly well together with everything and the characters all having a purpose and all having something to draw you in, heck even some of the lower grade villains had memorable moments or traits. I think as a fan it is just good to watch it and appreciate it but you don't necessarily have to like it.

Myself I need to re buy Dragonball blue bricks, but I read the manga as a kid and I've always liked it, not as much as Z, but I still love it. (I never watched past 5 episodes of GT)

I would assume at some point they would do a bluray release of DB or even the dragonbox. save you the trouble of having to get the funi blue brick version. Unless the quality isn't as bad as I heard. There is a website you can probably get them on though it was a store in the New England area called bullmoose they would have them at a good price. GT is good when you watch it and think of it as a what if or alternate timeline. The only things worth watch is half of the Baby Saga and the end half of the shadow dragons.

A friend wanted them so I gave them to her. I would so love a Blu ray version of Dragonball or the DragonBall box like in Japan. The quality was ok on the Blue bricks. The thing is it's not that it's not cannon or anything I just didn't go past 5 episodes of GT. I just don't know if I should buy them or not.

I don't think it's that "sad." They obviously don't care enough about the series to watch the original if that's the case, right? No skin off their ass, why should anyone else care about what they have or have not seen?

It's just irritating for some reason. These people play themselves off as massive fans, and you get all excited to talk to them, only to find out they don't know anything and then it makes you feel like a nerd.

Well, I do think it's a shame when good movies or TV shows aren't reckognized and for the life of me, I don't understand why any DB fan wouldn't watch Dragon Ball from the beginning. If you have the infinite patience to sit through DBZ with it's abundance of filler, why don't they have the patience to sit through the first arc which most of the show's detractors seem to point to as what they think of as DB.

If someone's a fan of Gundam Wing, does it make them less of fans if they haven't seen the others? If someone is a fan of Lupin the 3rd (the one that aired on Adult Swim years ago), are they less fans because they didn't see the other three or so series? It doesn't make anyone any less of a fan. How about the fans that have seen everything but have only done so by pirating the series? Are they bigger fans?

Not the same thing. Gundam series are self contained like Super Sentai or True Detective or each season of American Horror Story. This is more like watching only Back to the Future II and III.

Let's be honest, though: How much of Dragon Ball Super is influenced by the original Dragon Ball? I feel like Super is feeding off of the Kai audience anyway. If someone watched Kai back in 2011 or whenever it came out, those fans might not need anything more than that to jump right into Super. It's a different age with different fans. It's no longer a series from the late 80's/early 90's; there is a new generation of fans that could have seen it on TV for free. To fans like that, they never went out of their way to actually by the series or dig deep into its history. So the fans that came along in the last few years are not necessarily like you or me or others on here; they might not actually care about what came before Kai. And truthfully, that's okay.

It is just weird to those among us that are fans of the series through and through and seen it all and you come across those who claim to be hardcore fans but don't know anything or everything. Not that we do but it is those out there who brag about being fans and you come to find they know about a small field and not the whole forest in comparison. What makes it different is that this is all one on going story. Series like gundam have different timelines and different stories that don't run through the same path. It would be like watching Shippuden and not caring for what happened before it just seems weird. It is only wrong if the person brags about being a fan to me at least if what I said makes sense.

Well would you go onto a forum or YouTube or whatever and claim that you'r a "hardcore" fan? Would you claim that you know everything about Dragon Ball? Would you try to get attention to yourself for being so knowledgeable? I don't think you would. You have to think about who it is you're talking about. You're probably talking about a kid or teenager. "Well I know everything about Dragon Ball!!! That must make me cool!" When I was in the 4th grade, I also claimed that I knew everything about Dragon Ball Z, despite only knowing the "Saiyan Conflict" and "Namek Saga" dubs and just making up the rest. That doesn't mean that someone should take 4th grader me and actually take his word for it.
I don't think any real "hardcore" fan would identify himself or herself as such; he or she would just show it.

Stupid? Irritating? Maybe. But sad is laughable to me. What exactly makes it worthy of being depressed for you?

It's just an expression. I'm sure that nobody here is crying because someone else didn't see Dragon Ball. I have zero feelings on that because those are the types of fans that I don't enjoy talking to, so I avoid talking to them. Those are the fans that can find other fans like them and they can talk among themselves. I'll be here with the types of fans that I enjoy more.

I see your point from there but what I mean is more of a knowledge base and less of a "I know it all" type of thing. Nobody has to be a fan of everything or every aspect of whatever it is you are a fan of that is correct. There is also no set rules that make a person a better fan just makes them more of a fan. I just feel it is important to immerse yourself in as much information as you can in order to become a well rounded fan. Of course there will always be those who know more which is great but then there are those fans who believe they know more or act as they do.

I don't think that it's such a problem that many of those fans never saw Dragon Ball, but more of a problem if they're closed off to someone with more knowledge actually teaching them something. If I only saw Dragon Ball Kai and went on a forum, I'd be fascinated to learn about all of the things that came before it. Claiming that you're the end all be all fan and then being close-minded and dismissive to others with more knowledge is the really annoying part.

Last year I made it my mission to watch DragonBall and the 4 movies and I did. Afterwards, I felt like owning the entire DragonBall series.
WHERE'S THE DRAGONBALL DRAGON BOX FUNI!!????
