Favorite episodes of Super so far?
Favorite episodes of Super so far?
Now with 58 episodes, what are your favorite episodes so far?
I think mine have to be #06, #11, #13, #14, #39, #56 and #57.
#06 because it's fantastically directed with great pacing and really good comedy. It presents Beerus as both a threatening villain as well as a light-hearted figure, also gives more depth to his character with the flashback with king Vegeta and the scene with Majin Boo at the end. It also gives more development to Vegeta.
#11 was for me the best episode of the series for quite a while. It's almost perfect. It has a solid structure and a well-written character arc for Beerus and his relationship with Goku. It also builds up SSG's power following from #10 and hits a climax with the scene with Goku at the bottom of the ocean. It also had very memorable action sequences. King Ryu is a great writer and his Goku is phenomenally on-character.
#13 and #14 had solid animation and action sequences and the writing was also solid with Goku and Beerus' relationship and development, Goku's "I'm me" line and Beerus calling him a friend in #13. I think the climax of the arc in #14 was even better than the movie with Goku being the very first person to challenge Beerus' position as a God by telling him to shut up, though both have their strengths.
#39 was fanservice galore. The fight probably made more sense in the manga, but the anime was a visual spectacle with the Kaioken + Super Saiyan Blue nonsense. Oh, and an insert song for the first time (even though it was just the opening), brilliant.
The Black arc has had pretty good, solid episodes but the first fantastic one was without a doubt #56 which overthrew #11 as the best episode in the series for me. Like #11, it had it all, touching moments between Mai and the resistence, memorable action scenes and moments, and an overblowing amount of tension was present in the fight with Black. #57 was really memorable due to being the best fight in DBS so far and the best-animated episode.

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
My favorite episodes are #41 and #49.
#41 - Because it was one of those episodes filled by great content/information and that add something notable to the plot/franchise, the first appearance of Super Shenron and the addition of Zeno were marvelous.
#49 - Because we finally "got to see Majin Buu saga" in Future Trunks timeline and we learned that he has achieved Super Saiyan 2, both also marvelous additions.
Not a favorite but it is worth of mentioning/honorable mention: I liked the majority of episode 47, mainly the end of it, Goku Black's first appearance is easily the best introduction an enemy has ever made, and on top of that, you play an epic soundtrack like that... Booyah!

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
Mine are:
#18
Goku and Vegeta doing house chores so that Whis train them?
My favorite part was when Beerus woke up and shouted to them and ended at his room wall
#28
It was the first episode of the Shampa arc and the one that resembled the manga chapter best.Even though it didn't include the Beerus and Shampa quarrel for their birthday cake
but it had a good start with Shampa's landing ending with an explosion that caused Beerus to throw ki blasts at Goku and Vegeta followed by him searching for them to finally end with Beerus attacking Shampa
We saw how Vados and Shampa relationship was. Also Beerus and Shampa's relationship as brothers.
#41
Beerus wishing to restore U6 earth and their inhabitants so that Shampa could have their delicious food was so kind. Also, we saw he paid Monaka for his fake. Those were good moments.
#42
Beerus trying to cover his lie by disguising himself as Monaka was fun. And Goku's naiveness never felt better. Also, characters like Chaozu and Puar were useful again
#57
Good battle scenes with great animation, "decent art", and Kamitube/Godtube

I'm not going in-depth right yet (in other words, I'll get back to this thread soon), but my favorites are 1, 43, 47, and 56 off the top of my head.
Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
My favourite episodes are:
#1: It was the return of the legend...
#13, #14: great art and good fghts
#27: Frieza's finale, good animation in the fight.
#38, #39
#47, #56
#5 and #57 were close but I decided not to include them.

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
My favourite episode from Super is Episode 56 - Vegeta vs Cabba.
Not only from Super, it's my second favourite episode from the entire franchise right behind DBZ episode 185 - Gohan turns SSJ2 and kills all the Cell Juniors.
Other episodes I love from Super are episode 9 (SSG Ritual), episode 39 (SSB+Kaiokenx10), episode 42 (Goku vs Fake Monaka), episode 47 (Black appears), episode 56 (FT Trunks meets FT Mai again) and episode 57 (Goku/Ft Trunks vs Black/Zamasu).
I have to say episode 42 (Goku vs Fake Monaka) is my favourite "filler" episode from the entire franchise, together with the classic driving episode from DBZ.
Both are perfect.

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
11, 16, 18, 38, 47, and 57.
11 is the earliest instance of Super 'doing it right'. It took us through a proper narrative structure in 20 minutes; it had a fun opener, rising action, a proper twist, and an exciting ending. The animation was great, too. After episode 5, Tate really felt like he had something to prove here and really polished this episode. I was so excited for episode 12 afterwards. Shame how that turned out, though. Ick.
Admittedly, 16's animation is one of my favourite things about the episode -- Iseki did a wonderful job of bringing back the old school designs -- but the actual content was wonderful, too. Goku and Kuririn just kicking back and reminiscing, Vegeta showing true development and bowing for the sake of furthering himself. Just great stuff all around.
Episode 18 covered almost everything I wanted to see in Resurrection F. I have always loved the training episodes in the original series, so to have something blend the humorous training from Dragon Ball with the more serious moments from Z was a real joy. Tate doing silly expressive faces in part 1 and cool action in part 2? What's not to love!
The tournament arc wasn't really doing it for me. Episode 37 really switched things up for me and episode 38 delivered the motherload. Hit absolutely obliterated Vegeta and it established his threat immediately. I was very literally on the edge of my seat during that entire episode. Unbelievable stuff. Tate's work was wonderful.
Episode 47 was so powerful. It established the shift in tone immediately. The entire thing was phenomenally directed. From Bulma's death to Black's reveal, it was so well directed, animated, and written. I could not have asked for a better opener to this arc. Tate and Ishikawa were such a good combo. I would love to see those at it again.
Episode 57's first half was so strong. Just solid non-stop action that actually looked nice! They really delivered on the mid-arc climax and Shida's presence sure helped things. Music placement was fantastic, too. I'm no fan of Sumitomo, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it hard to find faults with these new compositions; Black's theme is excellent. Ending with Zamasu turning up on Zuno's doorstep was such a perfect way to round things off after seeing the capabilities of Zamasu in the future. Great storytelling.

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
11, 38, 39, 47, 56, and 57.
#38 was the first episode we get to see Hit in action and he absolutely destroyed my expectations of him by curb-stomping and defeating SSJB Vegeta in like 5 minutes which shows that he's a threat and gets the job as fast as possible.
#39 the follow up to #38 and even after expectations bar #38 raised this episode still did amazing. When Hit revealed that he improved himself, it really showed how much of a threat he is then we got the return of Kaioken mixed with SSJB which was amazing on top of Chouzetsu Dynamic playing in the background.
#47 this is pretty much the episode Frieza/Early Cell saga fans wanted and it brought completely tonal shift to DBS.
#56 most of this episode is like the textbook definition of "the calm before the storm" although sort of mini-storm because I'm guessing we haven't even reached the climax yet despite the amazing reveal of SSJR Black,Vegeta getting wrecked, and Zamasu not being Black.
#57 This episode was the really good eye candy albeit there was some off-models in a few areas it was still great. The fight, Trunks' using Final Flash, and Zamasu revealing his immortality are the highlights of this episode.

Glad to find another fan! #56 is my current favorite, but at least we can agree that #43 is amazing!Cipher wrote:#43 cannot be topped.
Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
My favorites thus far include episodes 11, 16, 38, 43, 47, 56, and 57.
Episode 11 was the first episode where almost everything seemed to hit the mark. It was full of memorable action and twists. Despite not animating for the episode, Shida did deliver some awesome storyboards! King Ryu did his thing and Tate rebounded from episode 5 pretty masterfully. Very little to dislike at all.
Episode 16 is probably my favorite comedy episode. Instant ramen being the most delicious thing in the universe? Of course! Also, Iseki Shucihi pretty much went back to the Cell arc for his animation supervision. The characters were drawn fantastically for the majority of the episode!
38 is still Tate Naoki's magnum opus to me. It's sprinkled with good animation and good action throughout the entire thing and it was fun to finally see Hit in a fight.
43 is wonderful. I believe Cipher said in the episode thread that it could have easily served as the ending of the series, and I fully agree with him. To see Goku actually slow down for a little really refreshing as well, and I wish that we could've had more episodes like it before the Trunks arc.
There's not much else I can add about #47 that hasn't been said already. Fantastic direction, solid animation, and the introduction of Goku Black was handled so well. He only had one line at the end, but man did Nozawa make the most of it. It seems like she's having so much fun with the character.
Episode 56 is another episode that had just about everything. I really enjoyed seeing Goku and Vegeta interact with the survivors from the future, and I even enjoyed Future Trunks and Mai's moments together. The second half was full of actual tension and the ending was an interesting twist.
Phew, where to even begin with episode 57? It was just so damn fun. Shida Naotoshi delivered the most well animated sequence ever seen in the Dragon Ball series (not including the movies) and there was about 8 minutes of almost nonstop action, something that isn't easy to pull off and something we haven't really seen in Super so far. It was also so great to see a tag team fight too, it was actually really exciting and fresh and I hope we get another one. Zamasu and Black make for a fantastic evil duo!

The only problem is that has been partially ruined by showing him since the opening credits of that episode.Grimlock wrote: Not a favorite but it is worth of mentioning/honorable mention: I liked the majority of episode 47, mainly the end of it, Goku Black's first appearance is easily the best introduction an enemy has ever made, and on top of that, you play an epic soundtrack like that... People searching from infos on the net does not count, of course... (it was weeks or months people knew there would have been an evil Goku as an enemy... even I feared it may have been somehow disappointing like Copy-Vegeta, instead he's still cool and a mystery after more than two months!)
I mean, do you imagine the surprise of Black's apparition at the end of that episode if you had known nothing before, and you had not seen the opening credits of the episode?

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
38, 39, 47, 50, 56 and 1st half of 57 rest all the episodes range from average to complete dogshit.
38: Hitto beating the crap out of Vegeta. Tate-Ryuu combo was perfect.
39: It was entertaining as fuck even though the fight made little sense. Nozawa's Kaiokenx10 scream was the highlight for me.
47: Promising start to the new arc and the music improved immensely.
50: Best episode in terms of music. First Sumitomo track that became memorable to me. But the best part was Black(Nozawa) maniacal laugh. That send chills down my spine.
56: Tate-Ryuu combo worked again. Whenever Vegeta gets his ass kicked it becomes automatically amazing. Black's dialogues in the episode were super fun.
57: First half was great. 2v2 fight and the Shida cut. Shin-ichiro Miki was classy as Zamasu. It had problems especially Trunks power made no sense to me but still it didn't interfere with my enjoyment.

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
11, 16, 27, 38, 39, 47, 56 and 57.
11 - The art and animation were consistently good, the fight choreography was a step up from the norm at that time. Not to mention the soundtrack was also really bloody good and well placed.
16 - The funniest 24 minutes Dragon Ball has ever been.
27 - The beatdown of Golden Freeza at the hands of SSJB Vegeta was extremely well done, but I have to really tip my hat to Toei at how Freeza blowing up Earth was handled. It was way more dramatic and downright heartbreaking. Not to mention the Z-Fighters showing genuine despair at Earth being destroyed, which really helped sell the event as more of a tragedy than how it was played out in Resurrection F where the Z-Fighters showed little to no care. The ending of the arc provided so much more closure than Resurrection F.
38 - Hit making Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta his bitch. Nuff said.
39 - The battle between Goku and Hit was just a thing of beauty.
47 - I sure wasn't expecting Future Bulma kick the bucket so early on but, damn, was is pulled of wonderfully. Tate once again also delivered, especially when it came to the fight scenes. Best first episode for any Dragon Ball arc ever.
56 - What a fucking spectacular episode this was. Everything from Future Trunks reuniting with Mai, to Vegeta providing food for the resistance fighters and survivors, to Goku Black's SSJ Rose transformation, to Vegeta getting stabbed, to that wonderful cliffhanger... it was all just fantastic. The second best episode of Super so far.
57 - I really can't heap enough praise on this episode if I tried. It has the best cut of action ever seen in the franchise, plus the revelation of Zamasu previously unknown abilities (regeneration), the flawless use of background music, Future Yajirobe saving the day... just everything in the episode was awesomely epic and well done. It's one of the best episodes from anime franchise and is the gold standard for Super that I doubt will be surpassed.

2 is Vegeta's family vacation. I thought that it was a pretty damn funny episode. We usually never see Vegeta put in a situation like this.
6 is the whole "don't anger Beerus!" episode. It was well directed, funny, and really showcases how much Vegeta was scared of Beerus.
11 was just an all-around good episode. Solid action and characterization all the way through.
14 had some wonderful action and moments. Great ending to the BoG arc.
16-18. Goku and Vegeta get training from Whis. I loved these episodes, but they sadly made my expectations for the RF arc go up
.
27. At least the arc ended well.
32 had beards.
38. Vegeta got wrecked. Great animation from Tate. Built up Hit properly.
39 had the infamous Kaioken + SSGSS scene. It was a thrill to watch.
41 had Super Shenlong and the King of All appear. Sure the animation was stiff for the Super Shenlong summoning, but I thought the episode was a pretty good ending for the arc.
43. Baby Pan and Grandpa Goku. I love this episode.
47. What a fantastic way to start an arc. Goku Black had probably the best entrance of any villain in Dragon Ball.
50 had Goku vs Black and had some great character moments from Vegeta. Very interesting episode when you look back at it.
52 is the Gohan episode. Probably the most controversial episode in this arc, it finally closed out Gohan's character. Good reality check for the fans, and the scene when Trunks was imaging what his life would be without Black really gets to you.
56 is not only the best episode in DBS, but is one of the best episodes in the franchise. Well directed, fantastic animation, great music, transformations, some funny moments in the beginning, and to top it all off, a very tension filled ending. This episode hit me like a truck. I did not expect it to be so good. Near perfect 10/10.
57 could be argued by some as better than 56, and they would not be wrong in the slightest. This episode had some of the best action the franchise had ever seen. Not to mention that everyone had a role in the fight and the whole ending with Zamasu visiting Zuno.
Super is on fire right now. This current arc, whatever you want to call it, could potentially be a top 3 arc in the franchise if it keeps up this level of quality.
I loved these episodes, but they sadly made my expectations for the RF arc go up

Heroes come and go, but legends are forever.

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
Episodes 11, 16, 37, 38, 39, 47 and 57 are my favourites.
Episode 11 is awesome because of its writing. That moment where Goku gets stabbed, starts sinking in the ocean and begins to doubt his power against Beerus was fantastic. Lots of cool action moments like Beerus shooting Goku around like a pin ball machine then crashing him into an island and also when Goku blasts a large Kamehameha against Beerus's barrage of ki attacks.
Episode 16 is just fucking funny. That's really the only reason why I love it so much. It also has wonderful art and animation.
Episode 37 feels like the most complete Dragon Ball episode ever. It has a big fight in it, a transformation, a lesson learned, character development for Vegeta and teases more to come with Cabba inviting Vegeta to visit the Saiyans of Universe 6 one day.
Episode 38 is my favourite purely because of Naoki Tate's work on it. The action is just wild. Goku flying around Hit and trying to find a way to counter his Time Leap is so entertaining to watch. Vegeta's short fight with Hit was also awesome.
Episode 39 is just... Amazing. I love it. Goku using the Kaioken again made me lose my shit. The climax of the episode with the DBS theme playing in the background was perfection.
Episode 47 was a great change in tone for Super. Just seeing Trunks's timeline gone to shit was so refreshing after all the bright, light-heartedness we had gotten with this series so far. Lots of shocking moments like Bulma's death and the "death" of Mai. Black's reveal while surrounded by smoke and fire still gives me chills.
Episode 57 is the best episode of Super so far (for me at least). The action was on point. The 2 v 2 fight was incredible. Shit hit the fan and the heroes had to fucking flee, I love that. We're finally getting tension in Super. I'm really excited to see what's to come.

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
I'd have to go back and re-watch the first three saga's, I know there were episodes that I liked but I can safely say that....
Episodes 47, 56 and 57 have been the best by far.

Re: Favorite episodes of Super so far?
I guess you'll be able to tell what kind if episodes I like
here is my list:
#1,2 Great introduction to the series.
#16 Another good Vegeta episode.
#31- Reallllly funny episode, loved the world building.
#37- Really good fight and great moment(s) from Vegeta.
#39- SSGSS KK that is all, with the OP playing too.
#42- Hilarious seeing Beerus go to such lengths to keep this lie up and seeing everyone reacting to the situation.
#43- First part again was really funny, just generally seeing day to day life amongst these guys.
#47- Great episode, though somewhat jarring with the present stuff, Black appearance did lose shock value but still solid episode.
#52- Really well done episode that establishes Gohan's new direction
#53, 55- More great world building.
#56-57- Amazing just pure amazing. Tension, great animation and great music!
