If Piccolo pulled a Majin Vegeta in Super

Post by Xeztin » Fri Sep 23, 2016 9:29 pm

I can understand Gohan, Goten, and Kid Trunks wanting to be more like Earthlings but it's really sad to see Piccolo and Majin Boo being more of a gag joke. I feel like everyone of the side cast except for Piccolo and Boo has a finished role and are there to more or less be there now. I feel like Piccolo could pull a Majin Vegeta in Super and that's more or less him being upset at what he has become and selling his soul out for power. I understand we really don't need a copy and past saga but it'd have a great domino effect if he gained a new transformation like the Nameks on DBO and sided with a villain. It'd cause Gohan to throw on the training gear again at least for a while since he's more a father to him than Goku.

On a side note, I feel like Majin Boo can be a lot more useful than what he's played out to be. I feel like even at his current state, his regeneration abilities and abilities to absorb others can come into great use. Especially if he absorbs someone like a impaled Vegeta to save them! What do you guys think?

The Majin charm is supposed to bring the recipient's power beyond their natural limits. We saw how that panned out with Vegeta. I doubt Piccolo would accomplish the same results; in-manga, he might surpass MSSJ Goku and Gohan from the Cell Games, but that would be it, in my opinion. Within the more lenient mechanics of DBS, however, he could end up anywhere. There's more plausible means for him to catch back up -- Namekian Book of Legends, training with Whis, Kaioken, or perhaps fusing with Zarama (assuming that's possible). It's a matter of willingness and incentive on the part of the writers and Toriyama to grant us this favour in bringing back such a beloved character into the fold.

What's interesting is the fact that people are so quick to dismiss and invalidate the humans' capacity for becoming narratively viable again. Not all of the humans have chosen to retire. From what we know, both Tenshinhan and Chaozu continue to train to this day. I believe Krillin also mentioned how he would come back into martial arts and train after ascertaining Goku's strength. Of course that never went anywhere, just like Gohan's vow. Have any concessions been made to reincorporate them? I would dispute that they have just as much right to become relevant again as Vegeta does since the latter's tale was finished and closed shut by the end of the Buu arc. Oh, but they don't carry the same appeal. Saiyans have been at the epicentre of the marketing campaign for decades -- Zenkais, long dramatised strength battles at the climax of DBZ's popularity, the "coolness" factor of characters like Future Trunks, and glittery new transformations with a lot of flair make them more interesting, I suppose. I mean who wants to see Yamcha control an energy ball with his fingers or Tenshinhan sprout arms from his back? Saiyans are where the money is at, unfortunately.

Buu's abilities are potentially useful, but I doubt he has the creativity, neither do the writers for that matter, to give him an active role that doesn't involve him directly going fisticuffs against the enemy. If he was smart he would attempt to covertly use his magic to transform the enemies into something less dangerous or heal Goku/Vegeta which we know he's capable of doing.

Is the Namekian Book of Legends even canon? I see it thrown around so much even though it's just some DB Online tidbit. It couldn't make Piccolo that much stronger compared to Mr.Boo without being too big a stretch, and even at Mr.Boo level I doubt that Piccolo would be able to handle Whis's training.

It's not from Dragon Ball Online. It's from Episode #9 of Dragon Ball Super, when they summon Shenlong to ask about Super Saiyan God.

I believe it's mentioned in the movie's rendition of "Battle of Gods" and the anime as well. If applied correctly to events and lore as it did with the Super Saiyan God transformation, the book should theoretically offer a means for a Namekian to achieve a state similar to SSJG. I don't want it to be transformation related, though. All of these nonstop Saiyan transformation smorgasbords have desensitised me from their appeal. The Kaioken holds more interest to me right now with its weaknesses and momentary burst mechanics than yet another temporarily unstoppable juggernaut form.

If the book can grant power similar to that of an SSJG then I don't see why Piccolo couldn't handle Whis's training. Follow it up with grasping the finer points of Kaioken, maybe even raise it to x100 which I believe Goku did in a movie (non-canon but it does present a possibility), and you have a Piccolo who can hopefully compete with the Saiyans again. Fusing with the creator of the Super Dragon Balls may not be impossible either.

As mentioned above, it's not from Dragon Ball Online. It isn't mentioned in the film version of the Super Saiyan God info dump either; just Super's.

Did they say it had a powerup or anything? I still don't understand where all of this is coming from.

Some fans are just hopeful that a Namekian book of legends might have something within it to benefit a Namekian. It honestly wouldn't be a terrible plot point, but no, nothing about it is mentioned beyond the fact that the Super Saiyan God legend is recorded in it.

That is more a fandom idea than what is reflective in the actual series. Gohan greatly admires Piccolo, but he never saw him as a second father or a more of a father than Goku. When he talks about Piccolo, Gohan says he admires him almost as much as his dad.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

If Piccolo is not to get a power up from the namekian book then i think something to do with planet namek in universe 6 would be good.

I have a whole arc idea in my head that involves planet sadal new earth and universe 6 namek which includes a unique Piccolo transformation and plenty of stuff for everyone else but would take forever to write here though.

If someone gave the Goku Black idea to Toriyama then they could also mention the namekian book of legends for Piccolo. Piccolo must be in his mind after putting him in the tournament.

Exactly. The fandom paints Goku as some father who doesn't even care about his kids when that's completely untrue

It would be very out of place cause ever since Cell nearly killed him, he never showed any kind of hate towards his weakness like how Vegeta used to do.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

If Piccolo pulled a Majin Gohan would just One-Punch him.

Every time I hear this it immediately makes me think of fan fiction. I think it's the incredibly generic sounding name "Book of Legends"

It'd be better if it was a Book of Namek's Past, Like a Namek's lore or history or something.

I don't think it's supposed to be the "Book of Legends" from Planet Namek, just a Namekian book of legends that we don't know the title of (if it has one). At least, that's how the summary for the episode treats it on Kanzenshuu's main site.

Were the Nameks supposed to be a race that recorded everything? I'm not sure if I remember anything like that in the original manga until Super.

I was actually thinking the exact same thing and even started to post that but I didn't want to derail anything.

That's out of character. It was supposed to be Majin Piccolo at first, but Toriyama didn't think it was right.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.
