What if there was no Goku?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

What if there was no Goku?

What if Goku died in the explosion of Planet Vegeta.
How would the events of the Dragon Ball universe unfold?

No Goku = No Dragon Ball

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

I mean sure.

But in-Universe what would happen to all the characters if they had never meet Goku?
Would the Earth be ruled or destroyed by one of the villains, and by which one?

Bulma probably would have missed the dactyl that Son 'Kun had to save her from just due to timing being different. Probably would have kept her pistol closer to hand too without a bodyguard.

Gohan may have accompanied her he may not.

Hard to say if She would have stayed with Oolong, she was already rich so once she realised he was weak she wouldn't be enticed to stay at his mansion.

Yamcha knew of son gohan so wouldn't attack with him there.

But there's just already so many variables by this point, with no oozaru would they burn under Pilaf?

Without taking on Goku would Roshi cave and take Kuririn on too, would Kuririn amount to much without a friend/competitor/partner. Would he beat helis bullies without encouragement?

Ten and Chaozu would never reform, may even grow up to be assassins and kill the turtle peeps.

Piccolo never revived due to no failures to Goku driving his revival.

Maybe Pilaf becomes King but is overthrown/joins the red ribbon army.

If Raditz knows there is no Goku he doesn't come.

No fall of red ribbon probably means no androids as we know them.

Maybe the planet naturally eventually gets annexed by Freezas empire. Probably not.

Babidi gets Buus egg, either massacres most of earth to awaken Buu then destroys it, or just takes the egg away...

Beerus wakes up and kills Freeza, inadvertantly saving the saiyan Trio from slavery, if they haven't annoyed Freeza into killing them in the intermediary years.

Maybe Earth makes it onto Beerus list one day if Buu didn't blow it up maybe not.

Any surving DB characters die of old age except the gods and any immortal aliens.

Maybe Towa never instagstes her plans due to Dabra not dying, or just kills babidi/buu as revenge if Buu killed Dabra and is happy.

Demigra can't take advantage and free himself.

Zamasu never meets or hears of mortals with god-ki because they now never come about. His rage stays just below boiling point

Earth, if its still around, dies in a super nova if its anything like our earth.

The universe dies of heat death and/or big bang/bog crunch cycle begins again if the DB verse follows those laws.

I'm assuming if Pilaf gets his wish from the Dragon Balls then everyone on Earth is automatically put under his control(although I'm just speculating) meaning the Red Ribbon Army wouldn't overthrow him. If that's the case then Pilaf probably rules the world until Babidi and Dabura come to Earth to unseal Buu.

Hmm yeah maybe, we never see the DB's used in this way, could it really subvert Everyone's free will, even guys strong enough to kill shenron like Roshi? I guess it can affect everyone weaker than kami, which is everyone back then... But would Kami intervene if the entire planet got enslaved.

In theory Polo and Korin would be affected which might make kami finally step in.

If it could subvert everyone's free will could it do it *forever*? What about Robots like metallic?

What about the next generation of babies who grow up and realise their parents are mindless droans to this pilaf guy and start a rebellion?

I'd love to see a Goku-less ficverse......
