5 things you dislike in the DB franchise
Here's mine in no particular order :-
1) Yamamuro Tadayoshi - His character designs are robotic plastic crap which are plain ugly to look at. On top of it, his arrogance and him correcting other animators' drawings who are far more talented than him is what holding DB back in being more creative. He is by far the biggest problem in the franchise. Morishita Kouzou and the higher ups deserves special mention too for favoring him.
2) Yamamoto Kenji - Self-explanatory .
3) Dragon Ball Kai - Half arsed, little to no effort put in by the staff, bad music placement, skipping the first half of the series, music fiasco, crappy editing et cetera. The worst thing to come out of the franchise.
4) Minus and Episode of Bardock - Gaffer Tape said it best in one of the podcasts. "Bardock was special cause their was nothing special about him", but these 2 products tried very hard to make Son Gokuu's not so special father so special that it hurt both his and Gokuu's character.
God knows why Toriyama even attempted to write Minus when he himself enjoyed the Bardock special and even said he could never write something like that.
5) Fukkatsu no F - Worst thing to come out of Toriyama. Just as bad as Minus. A plot that can't even be called a plot combined with Yamamuro's horrendous direction.
What about you guys?
EDIT: I did not include FUNI's atrocious dub cause it's not even worth mentioning and I request you to do the same. Your dislikes should be what you dislike that came from Toriyama and Toei Animation and the people working behind it, not FUNimation.

1) Dragon Ball Minus - The Bardock duology was perfect. This, on the other hand, was full of half-assed retcons.
That is my only complaint.

No joke, I pretty much dislike everything you listed. Even the part about Funimation's in-house dub. The only thing I'd change is Kai. I'd replace that spot with Broly.

1) It's not as complex as it could be
2) Super Saiyans
3) Vegeta

5) Freeza training for only 4 months to bypass Cell and Buu in Power.

In no particular order:
- Roshi (minus his fights). His gag is way overblown now and it was never funny to me to begin with.
- Old Kai. A Roshi clone for some reason. He should have a much more original personality.
- Neglect and underpowering of female characters.
- Too much attention given to Goku.
- Unnecessary exclusion of specific characters or forms in video games.
I have other issues, but I think these are my main ones.

Re: 5 things you dislike in the DB franchise
1. The supporting cast and power gap. The idea that "even if all you weaker characters gang up on me at once and try your hardest, it still won't be enough to help!" Happens in the 23rd Budokai, happens in the Cell Games (sort of), happens in GT a lot. Sort of happens in BoG, but it's somewhat subverted there.
2. The main character flip-flop of the Buu Saga. I get why Gohan doesn't work as a main character, but you'd think Toriyama would have realised that before he kept hyping him up. It makes his character end really unsatisfyingly.
3. Episode of Bardock. A fan-idea taken way too far and way too close to the main franchise.
4. Pan never going Super Saiyan in GT. The epilogue with Goku and Vegeta Jr made the series actually imply "girls can never go Super Saiyan".
5. The use of the Goku/Vegeta dynamic. I never found it the most interesting part of the series, and now people are under the assumption it's the sole narrative of the franchise.

I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

Re: 5 things you dislike in the DB franchise
In no particular Order. I really had to reach for these because there isn't to much that gets my goat about this franchise.
1. Goku taking the Main character role back from Gohan. This is one I can let slide though only because I love Goku and his coming back did bring a lot of cool moments after. So I'm not TOO salty about it. Just a tad.
2. Broly. As much as I kind of liked Broly in the first movie, his presence in his other two movies ruined what was otherwise shaping up to be pretty cool stories. Plus he gets so overhyped it's ridiculous. There hasn't been a new Dragonball anything without someone wanting Broly in it. "Universe 6 fight? It's totally going to have Broly." "Ressurection F should have just brought back Broly". "Black is cool but it would have been better if he was Broly." You get the idea.
3. The American Dub worshipers who say that the English version is the only REAL version and without Bruce Falcuners music that the series sucks. I get having a preference, but the utter hate for something that's even a little bit different than what someone grew up with is just silly.
4. Pushing aside too many characters. It's a shame that some characters are just thrown away because they can't keep up.
5. Power level and Canon Debates. I've never cared all that much for either.

Re: 5 things you dislike in the DB franchise
Super's underwhelming writing and production.
Gt's badly excuted great ideas.
Toriyama and Toei's fear of putting anyone other than Goku in the spotlight.
Dragon Ball seemingly turning into the next Yu-Gi-Oh/star wars.
I think we should've gotten 1-2 arcs that had Gohan as the main character before moving on to Buu.

My issue isn't with this, it's how fast it happened.Boo Machine wrote:Goku taking the Main character role back from Gohan.

Re: 5 things you dislike in the DB franchise
1. Resurrection F and its Super version
2. Toriyama & Toei being utter shit with utilizing the cast
3. Toriyama being glorified for everything while Toei is to blame for anything/everything bad in the franchise
4. Canon debates
5. A terrible fear of actual risks becoming ever present with the new material

When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Re: 5 things you dislike in the DB franchise
Since we're talking strictly about the franchise, I won't mention anything about the fandom. My list, in no particular order:
1. Dragon Ball Minus. I think that this is the most damaging thing to the franchise. Unlike Resurrection F, which you can classify as stupid fun even if you don't like it, this story actually hurts the overall narrative of DB.
2. Episode of Bardock. Oh look, another Bardock story. Now the story itself is nonsensical and stupid, but that's not why it is in my list. Bardock turning SSJ makes it seem like Goku is some sort of destiny child. It completely destroys what Goku and, to an extent, Bardock actually represent.
3. Dragon Ball Heroes. I've never played this game and probably never will. It does not appeal to me with its infinite number of "what if" transformations. Green Oozaru Broly was the nail in the coffin.
4. Super's rushed production. I feel like I don't even need to explain this one. I like Super and think that the current arc is great, but the series as a whole could have been so much more. People talk about GT having a lot of spoiled potential, but Super has that and then some.
5. Dragon Ball Kai. It's such a mess of a product with its constantly changing music and redrawn scenes. Its only saving grace is the dub.

Re: 5 things you dislike in the DB franchise
1. Time travel shenanigans. When I thought that I could frame the manga events with recursion inside a loop, there comes DB Super with more conflicting material, but I'm the one to blame for wanting things in their place.
2. Majin Boo's transformations. They're cool, but the order that they appear in leaves some confusion. I've been able to organize them, but getting that model widely accepted is met with the details of a very nuanced saga.
3. Power Levels with Freeza. I'm a fool for hating Goku's jump in power, but he had the ability to multiply it by 10 or 20, and then some with SSJ, which made it impossible for Vegeta and Piccolo to catch up in time of Freeza's return.
4. Kami and Piccolo Daimao's difference. The latter was trapped when he was old, and because Kami created the Dragon Balls with less power, young Piccolo Daimao was able to kill Shenron. Kami got stronger with age compared to him.
5. The Red Ribbon Army saga. I don't remember it that well, but I thought that it was aimless and full of unrelatable characters. It might have been the most sophisticated and expansive, but it got so much better at the end and with Tenshinhan.

Re: 5 things you dislike in the DB franchise
1. Broly (and everything that involves him)
2. Lack of consistently powerful female characters that participate in fights and make an impact
3. Mr Popo (not the character but the fact that he's an offensive stereotype)
4. English music scores
5. Awesome special abilities (e.g. Great Namek, Kikoho, Launch) being forgotten

So much EoB hate...
The only part of the franchise I hate with a passion is Minus.
Everything else is fine.
But Minus should never have been written.

1) Super Saiyans.

3) Gods outside of the Kaioshin/Kai/Kami dynamic.
4) Dragon Balls granting more than one wish.
5) Lack of any real development to side characters outside of one or two.

1. The fanbase. Both sub and dub fan. Either side won't shut up about how the other sucks.
2. Resurrection F.
3. God ki and the enormous power gap
4. Minus and Episode of Bardock
5. Super's flanderization of Goku and how the haters blow the whole "bad father" thing out of proportion

1. Power Levels introuction in the franchise.
2. Power Level Debates.
3. Power Level fans.
4. Power Levels fans wanting to turn Dragon Ball into a RPG with their arbitrary calculators.
5. Power Level fans putting fictional numbers "consistency" (that the franchise has been giving a s*** about since the end of Freeza Arc or even before) above having a good story.

Re: 5 things you dislike in the DB franchise
1) Power Levels
2) People got waaaay too strong
3) Background characters becoming useless (Woudl've loved to see Krillin or Tien get one kill on a major villain, like if Krillin actually got to kill Nappa)
4) Alternate forms/Fusions: SSJ was fine but the more they add the more ridiculous it gets, and I never cared for Frieza/Cell etc. transforming. Never liked fusions either.
5) Most cool techniques get dropped, mostly because people are waaaay too strong.
