I think Suno would have been a great match for Future Trunks. Lunch... no way. Future Trunks would most likely find her "other half" to much of hassle to deal with, even though the chances of that part of Lunch's personality taking over all come down to a random sneeze.

I don't know about a better match.
But seeing Lunch as a part of the resistance would have been really cool. Suno as well since Android 8 is still around.

I would've preferred that they just give us a new character altogether. Taking an extremely minor comic relief lackey to a former bad guy, and making her a badass soldier and love-interest for Trunks just seems like lazy fan-fiction.

Suno never was relevant.
Launch had that thing with Tien. I really miss Launch, she was good...It's a mess Tien didn't ended with her....But with Trunks? No way.
It's ridiculous that Tien and Yamcha ended just singles.
Mai was a great character even before this arc...And with this new life, she is doing very well...

And for the future I think Goten would be perfect with Marron

Neither, to be honest.

I've always viewed Future Trunks as a loner. Even after the defeat of the Androids, I don't view him as someone who would be motivated to continue his Saiyan heritage.

Why not pair him with an original character? The Mai in Super looks and acts so differently than the DB incarnation, she might as well have been one.

That may be the effect of being turned into a child. A child's brain is smaller than an adult's and not only that but even the decision making area of the brain isn't fully developed until you're 18 (or was it 21?)

Future Mai probably had to face many sh*ts in her life during the android attack and even Black.
Also for the present Mai (also Pilaf and Shu), they probably act like children because they were staying in the youth body for too long (while also regrowing up), at least 10 years that they might start to think themselves as children while still retain their memories.

I am fine with Mai by now. I don't think Snow or anyone is better than Mai. That does not mean that I think Mai is really "the fitting one" though. She is just what she is. She is here now.

Don't know about Suno, Lunch is Tien's girl, and Mai-Trunks was carrying on a joke from Battle of Gods which turned into a nice love story.
