Will 20 episode arcs being the norm for Super?

Post by precita » Mon Nov 14, 2016 12:02 am

With the Zamasu arc officially ending in 20 episodes, I just realized how nearly all of Super's arcs were 20 episodes or less. The Beerus movie adaption eps, the Freeza eps, even the Champa tournament. Besides that and the standalone "filler" peacetime episodes inbetween, no saga has gone on longer than 20 episodes.

In DBZ the shortest saga the Saiyan arc was still 39 episodes in the anime, and all the others went on for nearly a hundred episodes. So can we expect short sagas?

BOG was 14, RF was 12, Champa was 14 and the current one will be 21 so I think it depends on the story and how many episodes they need to cover its content.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

It certainly does seem like they're favoring smaller stories instead of the longer ones.

I'm unsure how I feel about this yet, we'll see!

However I would love an large story to take place at some point.

I doubt Super will ever have an arc the length of Namek, Cell or Buu...although who knows.

I don't think that 20 episodes will be the norm for arcs in Super. There won't be any real average for how long arcs will long. Arcs in Super will last as long as they need to.

Personally I think longer arcs would be beneficial to the series, because more episodes allows more room for lore, build up and development, short arcs may be part of the reasons Super is lacking in these areas

I was hoping for a really long involved arc. The arcs in super are just way to short. They need to spend more time world building/lore building. It makes it fun, but when they rush it they do things like Make Trunks Ultra God Mode or Kill a Super Fused character with a special Genki_Sword Move. Things like this would make more sense if they had more time to develop and foreshadow things.

I really don't want a arc longer as Freeza and Cell. Probably 30-40 episodes is pretty good.
English is not my main language. Sorry if I make a mistake.
