I noticed a Dragon Ball pattern
Ball fans say it was better than Z
Z fans say it was better than GT
GT fans say it was better than Super
If we have another series, I'm sure people will say super is better.
Do you agree with this theory.

Re: I noticed a Dragon Ball pattern
Most of it is just personal preference.
Some prefer the adventure aspect and comedy of Dragonball the most so they'll like it best. DBZ is of course the main series that was the most popular.
Opinions on GT and Super to an extent are mixed.

Re: I noticed a Dragon Ball pattern
What you are basically saying is people prefer what they first saw more..
That's to be expected, they grew up with it..
All Dragonball series are significantly different than each other.. so when what you like in the series you started with isn't in the one you watched after is the point where people say the other series is not as good..
I though started with z I prefer Dragonball more..
I saw gt too.. I put it slightly above evolution..
Super is right before z, catching up as it goes..

Isn't this the Zelda pattern ? I say this is somewhat true ,Ball is my favorite, then Z, then GT, then Super.
I have borderline personality disorder, if my posts ever come off as aggressive or word vomit-y to you, please let me know.

Its the Pokemon pattern too. Whenever a new gen of Pokemon comes out, people say the previous gen is the most hated one. Then when the next gen after comes out, then the "hated gen" is now looked back upon fondly and the previous liked gen becomes disliked.Soppa Saia People wrote:Isn't this the Zelda pattern ? Original >>>>> Super >> Z >>>>>>>>>>GT
Issue, if any, people usually have strict absolute positions. And sometime no motivations on their opinions.
I was a Super hater until I understood the product goals, rythm and themes. Now I really enjoy it.
Anyway it was an intellectual strain people did not want or have no need to do at all.
To hate GT I watched it more than once to find exactly why I didn't liked it.

Re: I noticed a Dragon Ball pattern
Heh. The amount of hate Gen 6 got when SuMo was announced instead of Z was laughable. "Confirmed worst Gen ever" yeah cuz it didn't have 5 games! Omg. How dare it. How dare Game Freak realise releasing third version games is dumb. Besides Gen 5 had 4 games too so yeah that really bothered me.precita wrote:Its the Pokemon pattern too. I don't know, keep in mind posters on forums are literally a drop in the ocean lol
Personally I first prefer Z, then DB, then Super, then GT,
the time pattern doesn't seem to apply on me lol

I watched it twice and came to the same conclusion both times lolChronoTwigger wrote: To hate GT I watched it more than once to find exactly why I didn't liked it.

Re: I noticed a Dragon Ball pattern
I take Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z as one enclosed story. So, I like the main series the most.
I take Super as sequel, enjoy the story (Yo! Son Goku Special, BoG, ROF and Champa and Trunks arc) and like it less.
GT was fun as I was a kid, but I remember being pissed a lot about Goku being kid again and never returning back, riding away on Shenron.
I felt cheated that the show ended so open ended, without solving the issue from first episode and not knowing what the hell happened to Goku.
The ending itself was good and sad, but somehow abrupt. I liked SSJ4 for example and Baby arc villains + Evil Shenron arc as a kid.
But if Super was done as I was kid, as a sequel in TV, damn, that would rock.

Well your theory is correct. In general nostalgia is a big factor and nowadays old=good for some reason. But not only in anime. Shitty video games, shitty movies etc.

Re: I noticed a Dragon Ball pattern
I started with DB as a child and once i was in my teens i watched DBZ. I loved the adventure and goofy aspect of DB, while Z, i enjoyed the long power ups and the body builder characters punching each other. Super, i enjoy the fast paced fights and the adventure aspect of it. Plus Z and DB was earth orientated mostly, apart from Namek saga all the action happened on earth. While Super, it happened in different universes, different timelines and different planets. So that was a breath of fresh air. Plus, they changed the wasteland battlegrounds(Z had way way to much wasteland battlegrounds) into something more refreshing. Arena, Destroyed City, Ocean fight, Space fight.

I sure member when games were shipped close to bug-free or when story scripts were still part of the movies budget lolMazingerdestro wrote:Well your theory is correct. Well obviously. Back then I member more good stuff due to the fact that the shitty stayed in the shadows. Member no man sky? If that game was released for ps1 nobody would know about it "a shitty ps1 game? Yeah I have my tekken, metal Gear etc."PsionicWarrior wrote:I sure member when games were shipped close to bug-free or when story scripts were still part of the movies budget lolMazingerdestro wrote:Well your theory is correct. Just ask the average fan to name few bad ff games. They will instantly reply ff13 series of course. When in general there were more bad games in the ff franchise. However, nobody members them

It all boils down to personal preference. On a side note, I think to get a better perspective for how you feel the overall quality of any TV show is, I think you would need to watch the show from start to finish at least more than once. Because there are often sometimes moments you may miss in you initial viewing of the show that may pick up on when you watch it again, which may affect how you determine its true quality.

No mate I don't member no man sky and google shows me something for ps4 I doubt that's what you're referring at, it is pretty normal that we member what we loved rather than what we didn't and threw down the bin, ofc we also had our good share of ****** games back in the 90's if that's your point can't argue against that and won't, as is better to forget all horrible things lolMazingerdestro wrote: Well obviously. Obviously rewatchs will give you a better and more accurate standpoint but I'd safely say the first viewing should give you the general idea about whether you like it or not lolLord Beerus wrote:It all boils down to personal preference.
