Is there any evidence to support the regular Kaioken being a 1.5x multiplier?
It's generally accepted that the Kaioken multiplies Goku's power two-fold, but I've noticed certain folks claim that it's in fact a 50% boost, is there any evidence to support this?

Not really, no. The idea is born from dialogue in the Vegeta battle being picked apart too much. The main culprit being Goku exclaiming "Kaio-ken" and "Kaio-ken x2" as if they were different. The narrator, who might as well be Toriyama, clarified he previously doubled his power when using "Kaio-ken" without the "x2". To reiterate, both exclamations from Goku are treated as "Kaio-ken x2" despite not specifying it the first time.

That would be likely in training the Kaio-ken for your first time. North Kaio never managed it and we briefly witness Goku practicing it before he can properly do it. That's certainly not the mastered control and technique that we're used to. As far as it ever being used in combat, as these debates claim in that context, the normal Kaio-ken is always "x2" for the rest of the original story.

The Power of the (régular) Kaioken is a x1,5 or +50%.
Kaioken x2 multiplies this power (on the regular Kaioken) by 2. So this is a x2 or +100%.
Kaioken x10 multiplies this power by 10. So this is a x6 or +500%.

There is no evidence. There is simply a misinterpretation of what is going on in the fight against Vegeta, I believe.TheUltimateNinja wrote:It's generally accepted that the Kaioken multiplies Goku's power two-fold, but I've noticed certain folks claim that it's in fact a 50% boost, is there any evidence to support this?
Basically, at first Goku only calls out "Kaioken". Then later, shortly before he uses "Kaioken x3", he mentions "Kaioken x2". Some have taken this to mean that "Kaioken" is less than "Kaioken x2", instead of thinking that the author was simply trying to make the difference between the Kaioken that Goku had been using and the one that he was about to use, clearer.
IMO, there is no doubt that it was simply the author trying to emphasize the difference between the Kaioken that Goku had been using and how much power it gave to Goku (x2), versus the higher grade of Kaioken that he was about to use and how much power it gave Goku (x3).

The games also treat them as different and the dub does as well.
